    How random.
  • Part of red bulls plan to get him back to Charlton after the takeover. They want a good look at him at Leipzig first.

THIS. THIS. THIS. Can you "like" a post more than once.

  • I agree but you do realise that he's going to one of the biggest German clubs that ended in the Champions League last season - If he impresses enough for them to sign him, he'll be making a step up from Everton

    Why?

So he gets the chance to see he could possibly make a move to the top league in a great football country?

Or that he could get chance to play for the team that finished runners up in aforementioned league last year and are currently fifth?

Think this is a great move for Ade.
Or get to sit on their subs bench too.

Going to a top 5 German team who tried to sign him when Everton did, getting an experience of playing abroad on an extortionate salary and playing in Europe? Horrible.

Wasn't he linked with them before, when he played for us? sure they had representatives down here watching him or us

Everton fans not happy about this. Allardyce has been getting slated in Liverpool Echo for not playing him more. Especially after his recent performance against Liverpool.

Allardyce doesn't want youngsters - they're perceived to be inconsistent. He wants consistency and reliability to steer his teams away from relegation year after year.

Everton was the right place for him to go when he went. It's no longer the right place for him and the loan should hopefully help as long as he doesn't struggle to adapt to the language etc.

Excellent news that he's getting some foreign football experience. Not enough home grown players play abroad and get the experience learning diverse football. It's invaluable and he can bring it back home with him when he returns.

    Lookman for England

That's my worry as he was said to be homesick in Liverpool.

This. And it's not just foreign experience, but experience at a high flying club with a very good coach who play very attacking football with good, young international footballers. We can talk about their origins and ownership, but the fact of the matter is they're a top side in Germany at the moment, and I expect them to finish top four.

Sam Allardyce on Ademola Lookman's decision to join RB Leipzig: "It's one of the most unusual situations I've been in. It was his choice. He was adamant he wanted Germany. We tried to persuade him not to. But his stubbornness got him his way."
  • I wonder if Ademola has spoken to Oliver Burke about his year there?

    Allardyce said he had.

He did say that other clubs were in for him ("we've got some deals for him") but he chose Germany. He also stresses the language problems would be an issue and how another player went there and couldn't wait to come back.

It's just fortunate that Sam isn't the sort of manager to take a bung because, if he were, some people might think that the brown envelope wasn't as big going to Leipzig as it was going elsewhere. As I say, lucky that Sam has always been straight down the middle.
  • Listening to Allardyce talking about Lookman was very odd. He's their player so they could have insisted he stay in this country. Very puzzling.

Or recognized that this is a move that could potentially really help his development.

But then Sam probably feels slighted and thinks if his name were "Allarmann" he'd be coach of Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich now.

Odd, I wonder if he's deflecting as I imagine he's not happy with the reaction from the fans - they seem pretty annoyed at this, and perhaps quite rightly too. There's more of the interview here - Liverpool Echo; but I can't help that think calling him stubborn and making it look as though he wanted out is quite a shitty thing to do.

It does seem a bit bizarre all round though - I'd consider the team fifth in the Bundesliga as a step up from Everton to be fair. Seems bizarre to loan out a promising prospect to an arguably better team. On the other hand, I presume the other offers were going to be Championship clubs in the UK? I know what I'd take..

If Allardyce is telling the truth though, then I think young Ademola deserves a lot of credit. He's only 20, been at Everton only a year - but already made appearances and been on the peripheral of the team, and he's obviously got a hunger and a desire to gain a variety of experience. Not to mention that - in my mind - it's impressive for a 20 year old to put his foot down and say adamantly "No, this is what I want.".
