I’ve not really thought this through, but would it be worthwhile or for that matter possible for members of CAST to arrange a private meeting with opposition board members/CEOs prior to games especially away from home, to voice our concern of how this shower of shit are running down the club. I know it would be time consuming for them as unlike Katy it is the busiest day of the week for them. It just seems that RD and Meire want to be perceived as doing something and showing their peers that they are not would irritate them.
We all know that with Roland's policy of investing as little money as possible in the playing squad, we will never play in the Premier League under his ownership. It therefore follows that we will never have 20,000 attendances while he owns the club. So I hope that the Target 20k group told him that the only way they will achieve their goal is for him to sell up. If they didn't tell him that, what is the point in them?

Sadly that was the final item, number 27 on their agenda but Roland could only commit enough time for the first 3-items on the target20k list and although I maybe overstepping the mark here by exclusively revealing this before the OS story and associated press release, he has agreed into looking into replacing the hand driers in the Gentlemens toilets in the East Stand*
See now try to say he's not investing in the future of our club and that target20k are useless, go on I dare you
*T's & C's apply, if Tony's team can prove that by simply purchasing a marker pen and scrawling "press here for hot air" on the front of each hand drier then the expenditure potentially allocated to replacing these fixtures can be re-allocated in the 2017/18 budget and shown as a saving on Latriens next PowerPoint presentation
For me the most depressing read is the figure quoted re time and money spent on CAFC compared to what he has. If these figures are true we are merely a play thing or a hobby for him and we better be prepared for the long haul as I cannot see him selling up anytime soon.
Wish someone could explain, why he owns us, there is no logic to it, he doesn't even spend enough time for it to be a hobby.
Have always said he bought club for Meire. She goes; he goes.
Hey, Kentred2, we're on the same wavelength. I think that's the case too,
Sadly this reinforces my view that we are an unimportant, insignificant minor project in his empire. We are a minor interest to him. Money relatively unimportant given the mans wealth and we are an experiment to satisfy his statistical view of the world and how that can be successfully applied to football. We are a side hobby.
He doesn't need or want to sell. Our protests are frankly pissing in the wind. Do we really think that wearing some jazzy shirts and a black and white scarf is going to impact on him ? I think the club is fucked.
What our support base will look like in two years I dread to think.

Never been the way I saw it till now, but you do now have to wonder if part of the idea was to give his 'niece' some business experience.

Agreed, Henners.
I always thought that the idea of him buying a football club for Katrien to play with was, well, nothing short of idiotic to be quite frank. Reading this thread though, I genuinely feel as though I may be coming over to that point of view.
Let's think about this logically:
- He has now confirmed that he has no real interest in the club; 1.5%? - He's losing money on - supposedly - a very regular basis; yet still states he has very little interest. - The only one who has gained anything out of this is the previously unknown Belgian who wanted a career change, and has subsequently grabbed every PR opportunity she's been given.

However, its better than sitting back and doing nothing which would give him and the SMT far too much freedom to do as they want.
Charlton's owner met with the fan group, as well as the club's Senior Management Team during a visit on Wednesday Charlton owner Roland Duchâtelet visited The Valley and Sparrows Lane this week and as part of his trip met with Charlton Athletic fan group Target 20k.
While in the UK, Duchâtelet received updates from the club’s Senior Management Team, met with Jason Morgan of the Charlton Athletic Community Trust as well as Academy Manager Steve Avory and spent time on Wednesday evening with the fan group.
Duchâtelet thanked Target 20k for their hard work before answering questions members of Target 20k had about the club. The below provides a topline summary of what was discussed in the question and answer section: Duchatelet said he runs many businesses and while he watches Charlton games from abroad, he leaves the day-to-day running of Charlton Athletic in the hands of Katrien Meire, Russell Slade and the club’s Senior Management Team It was confirmed that Thomas Driesen is part of the club’s extensive scouting network but that Manager Russell Slade very much has the final say on transfers and match day selections It was explained that Driesen has never had a say in the selection of a Charlton Athletic team nor has he had final say on player transfers in or out of the club Duchatelet said that the club’s communication had been poor during his time at the club and required improvement It was confirmed that Phase 1 of the Sparrows Lane training ground development is nearly complete, with just the finishing of a water basin required. It was added that Phase 2 is set to start shortly It was confirmed that the Jimmy Seed Stand sign refurbishment is going ahead
Other points of discussion included:
- The change in recruitment strategy which has seen the signing of a British manager and a focus on British players
- How the club can make more of the matchday experience, making it more of a day out at the stadium and a celebration of the sport like, for example, some rugby clubs do
- The club’s intention to continue to build their relationship with the Charlton Athletic women’s team
Duchâtelet said: “It was a pleasure to meet members of the Target 20k group. It was good to get to listen to them and find out how they first fell in love with the club and what they are doing now to help the club grow. It was a positive meeting and I look forward to seeing their creative ideas in action.”
As part of the club’s ongoing commitment to meet informally with official supporters groups on matchdays members of the club’s Senior Management Team will meet the Maidstone and The Weald Supporters Club on Saturday October 1st ahead of Charlton’s home game against Rochdale.

They do as they want already.
For reasons already done to death on here there won't ever be a full boycott. For me that's the only way we can successfully protest. It wouldn't be the financial hit that would impact although it would to some extent. The man is losing £700k a month and he has 1.5% interest in us.
With just a thousand or two attending the games it would seriously jolt the football world in England at least. Players would be reluctant to come and we would really be a laughing stock and not just the subject of some small pity amongst the small number of other fans who could give a toss.
If Meire really is in it to gain experience and laughably kudos in the business world then she couldn't "spin" her way out of that. It would look embarrassingly ridiculous on her already suspect CV.
I really think the best thing for CAFC is for its fans to walk away. Anything less and we could easily be done for.

Henners!!! I don't wear a cardigan
Complete brainfart, not sure why I thought I was replying to Henry!

No mention of the "only 1.5%" of his businesses then.
It was confirmed that Thomas Driesen is part of the club’s extensive scouting network but that Manager Russell Slade very much has the final say on transfers and match day selections
In what way is he qualified to be a scout?
It was explained that Driesen has never had a say in the selection of a Charlton Athletic team nor has he had final say on player transfers in or out of the club

It was confirmed that Phase 1 of the Sparrows Lane training ground development is nearly complete, with just the finishing of a water basin required. It was added that Phase 2 is set to start shortly
So the excuses about planning issues (Swisdom), Access (Slade), Tendering (Cahones) all weren't true then. Or this is another lie? How long is "shortly?" How long does it take to finish a water basin especially when there are no builders on site for months and months?
It was confirmed that the Jimmy Seed Stand sign refurbishment is going ahead
Good news. Timescales? No, thought not.

Note nothing actually posted about what was said, just that is was discussed

- The club’s intention to continue to build their relationship with the Charlton Athletic women’s team
That's a new one. CAWFC isn't run by CAFC but by CACT. Does build better relationship included putting money into the women's team or is this another "we'll claim credit for what the Trust do without doing anything ourselves"

I'm starting to think this may the case also. It could be worth stepping things up against Meire herself and see if she'll crack.

"It was explained that Driesen has never had a say in the selection of a Charlton Athletic team nor has he had final say on player transfers in or out of the club"
Just playing with words. Of course Duchatelet has the final say on transfers in and out, which is what you'd expect. The issue is what influence Driesen had relative to Powell, Peeters, Luzon, Fraeye and Riga.
Fact remains the incriminating emails are only copied to Driesen and Meire - not to Phil Chapple, who was head scout until a year ago. These emails haven't gone away, Katrien. You know who has them.
The idea Driesen hasn't been at the heart of the nonsense is false, as you and Roland both well know. But at least his name is now confirmed by the club, after two and a half years.
So he ain't going anywhere. So options are physically force him (but unlikely as wrong type of fans) or set up a new Charlton to support. Nothing else left?
I hope these revelations & the RD visit will mean that the protests return next home game, it's the only way - even then, I don't think RD is overly bothered.
