Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet sneaks out of club to avoid protesting fans

Lets set up AFC Charlton , playing on the peninsular, with home games at 7.45 on Fridays !!kentred2 said:So he ain't going anywhere. So options are physically force him (but unlikely as wrong type of fans) or set up a new Charlton to support. Nothing else left?
That way, we get sponsorship from the Big Banks in CW, and all the city types can come along after work on Fridays and we can get a new younger fanbase.
If we start now, then we might be in the Conference South by the time RD fecks off- ready for lift-off.7 -
Since I bought those two Melexis NV shares whenever that was....June? They have gone up in value 40%.
As people have said that's not a cash amount to the senile old twerp ('sot'). Unfortunately though it means the sot has no requirement to sell and as he doesn't give a monkeys about football really and not even a monkeys flea about Charlton, the best we can hope for is more poor decisions but no further relegation until some of the pricey players who don't play for us come off the books, say 4 years, when if the club hasn't died, there may be enough to push for promotion to the championship.
Hope I'm wrong and Slade pulls it out the bag. I still like him even though I am not very impressed so far with his in game subs.0 -
I am just wondering if you were a PR company and you wanted to dispirit protestors and/or make their efforts appear a minor trifle in your master's grand designs, then you would be making noises that suggested the owner is not bothered and is too busy/important to have noticed your tedious complaining.sirjohnhumphrey said:This is the lowest point for me since their arrival.
I'm now beginning to think they will be here for a long time yet when recently I believed they may be here for one more season.
It is a project to them. Like a train set or Barbie doll, we are the toy that RD has bought for KM to play with, break and then discard and leave in tatters.
I hate them and I have no connection to my club.
Now we know that the protests did get to them last season because they are imposing the RD version of martial law at the Valley ( no protest flags etc) and they appear to have hired a PR company that can spin faster than a Hotpoint 2200.
So let's not get despondent, I know it seems depressing, but let's gird our loins to the fight ahead, it's may be going to be a long one, but let's get protesting again.
Roland Out.

So it was confirmed that Thomas Driesen was part of the scouting set-up. Given that he was photographed at the training ground with Riga and snapped on other occasions alongside Roland, Katrien and Katrien's poor old victimised dad, it suggests that he was he was mixing freely with the owner, the CEO and the manager and therefore had some some considerable input. Did no one from T20 group have the gumption to ask exactly what his role was and what were his qualifications and related experience for having that role?
It may well be that Driesen didn't have the final say in transfers inasmuch as he would approach Roland and say " I think you must buy Polish Pete, he is a genius and the next Lionel Messi." Roland has the final say and says " Ok I'll buy him".2 -

Tom Acornley
Adrian Simpson
Simon Evans
Rick was put on the list but not asked formally if he wanted to join and as he said above he didn't.
I think a few other people have left since
@MartinCAFC who has self-identified as a Tk20 member on here could clarify whose left or join since.0 -
Maybe it's time to target Target 20k into removing their support for the regime. Remove another pillar to destroy the building that is the Duchâtelet regime.7
-
Target 20k are in it for the same reason as Sue Perks, pure ego. They like feeling important in the glamorous world of professional football even to the detriment of the club they claim to love. We even have protestors more interested in their own notoriety than ridding these absolute idiots from our club. There should be one aim and unless we can all focus on that then they win. This is much bigger than Russell Slade and a few players and finishing 6th in League One. It is not about results, we are being taken the piss out of by them and some of our own fans. Not one single person in the SMT give a shit about the long-term future of our club. Wake up.34

CARD need to step things up, rage all out war. The old fucker doesn't look like he's going anywhere so either protests need to be stepped up or this is how things will be for 3/4/5 years, maybe more.1
-
Staggered that CARD weren't let know of this meeting so that something could have been organised quietly without the club being aware that we knew.
Fucking egos.12 - Sponsored links:

Every club in England wants to get into the "promised land" of the Premier League, yet we are stuck with a prat who doesnt care really and is happy just producing players for it and not a club for it!2

The club are putting a lot more effort into disrupting and ultimately destroying CARD.Addickted2TheReds said:Staggered that CARD weren't let know of this meeting so that something could have been organised quietly without the club being aware that we knew.

What to do next is going to be more difficult and I would suggest that ideas, plans are not put on here.11 -
I have a feeling that the meeting with T20k was already planned but they didnt know about Row Land turning up until he was there.0

I'd like to know the figure they're paying Pitch - they're absolutely huge and won't be commanding a small fee. We are small fry for them.Baldybonce said:

"Roland keeps pumping money in" - yeah, well some of that is going to pitch to improve Katrien Meire's reputation and further her career.

Unfortunately the recent remarks RD has made (whether taken out of context or not) about Charlton being 1.5% of his income just seems to make you feel as if there's no chance of forcing a sale of our club.
Another man's trash is another man's treasure. It now makes perfect sense why he has been so content on running the club down and being careful with his pennies. This is club is our love, but for him it's practically no big deal at all. We can carry on protesting but I feel like it will once again fall on deaf Belgian ears.0 -
I do some work with a well known London PR/Comms/PR/Marketing firm (not on the PR side I hasten to add) and their MINIMUM fee is £3k a monthAddickted2TheReds said:

Keep up the protests, keep the pressure on the witch and make her life as uncomfortable as possible within the law. She'll give in eventually, life's too short. She goes, he goes.NorthStandUltra said:I hope these revelations & the RD visit will mean that the protests return next home game, it's the only way - even then, I don't think RD is overly bothered.

How any respectable Charlton fan who continues to court these w*nkers running our club can sleep at night is beyond my comprehension. Wake up ffs Target 20 (and that's about your mark) and smell the fecking coffee, you're hastening the demise of this once proud, who others used to look up to, club. We are now regarded as a complete laughing stock in football circles, why on earth would any so called 'fan representative group' wish to be associated with this? God help you
.

Given this part of the original recommendations about the "rules" now in place in the EFL about fan involvement, does anyone know what the rules adopted by the clubs actually say, and whether they offer us any leverage for demanding that the club talk to a more representative group of supporters?
I've looked for details of what the rules they voted for in the EFL actually say, but couldn't find anything.
---
3.33 The Leagues will recommend to their member clubs that the 2012 undertaking and the subsequent application of the relevant League rules will be met by meeting a representative group of supporters at least twice a year to discuss major issues.
3.34 The Leagues will recommend that this representative group of supporters includes the club's Supporters Trust. The Leagues will advise clubs that no individuals should be excluded from the meetings without good reason, and, if attendances at these meetings is restricted to a small group of supporters – which is the preference of SD/FSF– a significant proportion of this representative group of supporters should be elected, selected or invited to these meetings in line with basic democratic principles.
3.35 Senior representatives from the clubs – either club owners / directors and/or senior executive management should represent the club at these meetings. The Group recognises the importance of Supporter Liaison Officers and their roles in providing a key interface between clubs and fans on a wide range of issues - and this should continue - but this formal, structured dialogue should be led by owners / directors / senior executive management.
3.36 The Group recognises that there is not a 'one size fits all' approach to either clubs or Leagues and that the fans’ appetite for specific information, and to discuss specific issues will vary from club to club. Whilst SD and FSF believe these meetings would be most productive with a tighter, independently democratically elected representative group of supporters with an interest in strategic and governance issues, the PL and FL support clubs having the flexibility to invite a broad and open group of supporters.
3.37 Each of the Leagues will therefore provide a template to clubs outlining the minimum level of information which should be shared at these meetings. Although the focus of these meetings will be on strategic and major issues, all parties will be able to table additional topics where relevant and timely, to ensure that the issues which matter to supporters and clubs are discussed.

Yeah I bought 2 Melexis shares on the thought it may get me access to the AGM but they have really complicated bye laws and I still haven't managed to guarantee that I can turn up, it looks unlikely.1

Which, as you know, but others will not know, is what three of from CAST discovered when we tried it back in March. But at least you made money. We nearly lost a grand each to the dodgy broker who first claimed we would get full voting rights.Alwaysneil said:Yeah I bought 2 Melexis shares on the thought it may get me access to the AGM but they have really complicated bye laws and I still haven't managed to guarantee that I can turn up, it looks unlikely.
So the lesson is, don't try this one at home, kids.

I don't buy for a second that he doesn't care about the finances at Charlton. Why else is the club desperately phoning and emailing it's entire database trying to flog tickets? Keep the pressure on, it's working, he will sell, no matter what drivel they push out.
As for Target 20k, any fan that is remotely associated with that should be ashamed of themselves.21 -

The season ticket boycott is self defeating. Those who protested are no longer here to protest, as time goes on and they get out of the habit of watching Charlton the less likely they are to turn up for a protest outside the ground just to go home at the end of it. Now in the absence of their presence the club is slowly being filled by newcomers who do not worry about who owns the club.0
