My season ticket showed up today (Seeing they only announced it today) so for those who have also renewed hopefully the club have learnt from the Royal Mail mess last season
I take it you are in the East Stand if that's where they are starting from and you've got yours already
@Airman Brown You said you expect the club to issue a lot of comps early on. How will they do this with schools on holiday ? Will they just 'print' them and dump them ?

Yeah I'm Block F
Seeing they said yesterday that they'd start from Block A I think it shows how few people are between me and that block lol!
"Tickets will be posted out block-by-block beginning with those situated in East Stand Block A, moving anti-clockwise towards the Covered End, and the club anticipate all to be delivered by the end of July"
We've sold so many that they could've easily said 'by the end of this week'.
The ticket office may well be otherwise too busy. If we've sold 5,500 then there are likely to be waiverers and late purchasers that will decide it's now time to buy a ST. Fans should pick which winnable battles they want to fight and the ST boycott was always going to be one that we ahould have collectively avoided because it's self-defeating. Committed Charlton fans will always want to go to watch the team whenever they can, it's what we do, it's what we've always done. At least we now know there is going to be at least 5,500 of us in the ground on a match day to support the team and voice our displeasure with the regime.
Even with a few last minute purchases, the 5,400 + figure is a significant drop. The likely remaining sale of quality in the squad is not going to help either. Nearly 2 weeks to the start of the season and the squad is still thread bare and looking light, as per the Duchatelet & Meire normal practise. Its not going to help sales.
To make a division and claim the title of committed Charlton supporter as one's that have renewed is just not right. So a supporter who has had a season ticket for many years, chosen not to renew because of being sick of the Duchatelet regime can't claim the title any more ? There's some great posts above about Charlton supporters not dividing themselves out between those who have chosen not to renew and those that didn't. Everyone has legitimate reasons that need to be respected. It is important for Charlton Athletic supporters to stay together, so that Duchatelet can sell up and take one of those offers that he keeps getting to sell the club.
Very true.
@letthegoodtimesroll you have repeatedly made this unfair accusation and then withdrawn it only to yet again repeat it on another thread. It is, and had been for a while, very tedious.
Henry, I'm not saying that those that haven't bought a ST or won't be going are not committed fans. Fair play to anybody that can stay away but I'm just being realistic. For many of us, whatever shit has come the club's way over the years, I know we still keep going, no matter what. Staying away hurts us more than RD and KM because we are emotionally connected to the club, they're not.
Yet again you withdraw the remark after making it. As I said, tedious.
I'm consistent in my personal view that the call for a ST boycott was misjudged. At 5,500 and counting (because it probably will start to go up) then it's an easy PR victory for KM and she can make the claim that losing some fans was inevitable because we were relegated and everybody else outside of Charlton will believe her. If we hadn't been relegated then the fall off in ST sales would have made people sit up and take notice. CARD isn't going to win a financial pissing contest with RD, it's all going to be about selective PR.
Because mayby, perhaps we can estimate, in your guesstimate, give or take a bit, that there's a chance possibly that things aren't really that bad

Community trust is one available route - summer events and football courses.

The boycott is playing into Duchaets and the CEO plan. From day one they made it clear they did not like the demographics of the regular Charlton supporter at that time. They saw us as a bunch of old fogies. Roland can take the hit of an increased loss of 1 million pounds from a drop in season ticket sales to achieve his desire to recruit a different demographic of supporter over next few years. He will see this as being easier without the presence of the old fans, he is probably looking for a younger more cosmopolitan more middle-class supporter than of old, a bit like a glorified Dulwich hamlet type.

No, au contraire mon ami, the ground is shit, the pitch is awful, we've now got another English manager and we know the last one wasn't much cop and won nothing, we've just signed some players that scored more goals than our entire squad got last season so that's a step in the wrong direction and to top it all I've had to fork out a fcking whopping £175 for a season ticket. Things are terrible.

I am at a bit of a loss about how he is going to achieve that. I don' t see how he is going to recruit currently un-attached cosmopolitan middle class supporters to go to a two- thirds empty ground to watch third division football with the likes of West Ham just up the road. Just about all clubs would want to attract more affluent supporters but there were already thousands of empty seats for Tarquin to chose from.
I apologise if there are any Charlton supporters called Tarquin out there.

I think you need to have a good walk around the Valley preferably on a non match day, this group of "new" supporters you speak off do not exist within 5 miles of SE7

Disagree.
Charlton, Woolwich and Plumstead all seeing gentrification.
Greenwich and Blackheath already have big middle class populations some of whom are young and possibly cosmopolitan.
Bought my first season ticket in 1975 (a few days after that unforgettable victory over Preston which saw us promoted when still on a wave of euphoria). Had a season ticket or been a member every season since.
Bought a half-year season ticket in January 1998 for myself and my son when I thought things looked promising! (Good move if I say so myself). We've had those same seats ever since.
But neither of us have renewed and won't do so again until Roland effs off.
But despite this length of "loyal support" not heard a word from the club. Certainly no telephone call from them. Find it amazing that they can't be bothered to at least contact me to try and get me to re-new.
And having had a crafty look at the area of the East Stand where we used to sit, I can see a good number of other seats previously occupied by long-standing fans that are still for sale. So we're clearly not the only ones adopting this approach.
Roalnd, if you are having a crafty peek at this thread please take my heartfelt advice and just eff off so my son and I can go back to doing what we enjoy doing on a Saturday afternoon.
2 weeks to the start of the season and still no phone call.
S**t for brains just doesn't do true justice to those now in charge of the club.

Why do you want then to call you ? Do you want to tell them you are not renewing ? I think they might just work that out for themselves without the hassle of ringing you; or do you want then to persuade you to buy a season ticket ?

Did you leave last year's ST at Sam Batram's feet? Someone said the other week that Keohane had us all on a naughty list in the ticket office, which is why I'm assuming they've not rung me yet.

I guess this was so Tony could tell Roland that is wasn't his incompetence but all down to relegation. It's not as the comparison in the drop now and the last time we went down shows.
But of course Cahones and Nightmeire don't want to believe that. They live in a bubble where they are right and eveyone else is wrong, Wilder Slade and a few signings will wipe the slate clean.
Bet they are still going on about matchday experience and planning to replace BDL with goal music and either Smashy or Nicey.
I haven't had call, I'm not bothered personally but as others have said it isn't that they want a call as such but rather they would expect any well run, customer focused business to call, write, email etc even if the response was "no thanks".

Exactly. Just dwell on West Ham for a moment. If you are "cosmopolitan middle class", and living in our catchment area, you can now take your kids to a state of the art stadium via a variety of new transport links (to be joined by Crossrail next year). Indeed your kids may well push you in that direction with the special offers West Ham will have made available, combining cheap tickets and rail travel. Or, being "cosmopolitan middle class" you can perhaps treat yourself to the unrivalled selection of premium seat offers the OS can make, and thereby keep yourself and your kids insulated from the hoi polloi.
This is being made more acute by the taxpayer subsidy to West Ham, but it was always going to be a commercial threat anyway.
Why then would any sane "cosmopolitan middle class" Dad select a 3rd division club which obviously has no direction, and no collective sense of belonging among its fans, when he can just as easily watch FAPL football in the Olympic Stadium?. In business terms to build a strategy around such a proposition is idiotic.

Those areas are up and coming and see new young people moving in. £350k for a flat in Woolwich now so you have to be fairly well off to even look at that. Lots of old houses in Charlton being bought up and done up by young couples as relatively cheap.
We won't attract those people while we make no real effort to attract them and actually deter them with 3rd division football and nonsensical ticketing arrangements

They tried a "Club SE7" thing in 2014/15, offering free tickets to everyone in Charlton for a match. The OS reported it was a great success and would be repeated, which of course, it wasn't.
There are plenty of affluent newcomers in Charlton itself - but they have an interesting habit of looking rather like me and you. The revamped White Swan wouldn't have been able to get going without their custom.

Nearly every ground in the country has a shithole within 5 miles of it, football was (is) a working class game.

I didn't get a call despite being the epitome of what they are looking for - rich, good looking, fertile, don't live too far way - any possibility that they decided to ring a proportion to gain a general concensus they may be able to act upon (I know - they won't act upon what most will have requested) rather than everybody?
