Still can't believe how many of you have fronted up your money for them
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you and I and others also continue to hand over cash to the regime that took our club to Selhurst and Upton Park when a lot of charlton fans boycotted the move ? What's different ? There wouldn't be a charlton athletic today if we hadn't continued to support the team
Whatever else we think his faults are, even Roland hasn't done something as bad as abandoning the Valley and making us play at a rivals ground
yet
though I guess if there are just a few fans still supporting the team then we shouldn't dismiss that being part of the ultimate game plan
You going to Leeds tomorrow then or do you only have a little pop at those fans who don't do the local games (Brentford and QPR seem to ring a bell)? .
No I won't be going to Leeds tomorrow. In a show of solidarity with the charlton players I too will be metaphorically on the beach alongside them and if my cynical view of whether a team of most likely soon to be ex charlton players will turn up for tomorrow's game is proved to be completely wrong then I will applaud them and feel pleased for those diehards that did go to the game
Double standards there surely, still I guessed as much.
I'm a football fan, double standards is a pre-requisite

I agree that people shouldn't be criticised for renewing as it's the choice of the individual.
The frustrating thing is, however, that a vast majority of our supporters are anti regime. If no one renewed (impossible to control I know) I don't see RD would have any option other than to sell.
Whoever said that Charlton would become unsustainable by Christmas 2016 looks about right. When a third of all season tickets are only paying £7 a game there has to be massive injections of Duchatelet's cash to keep the club running.
As has been said elsewhere, the financial year end is June 30th. The drop in cashflow will be enormous when compared to last year's accounts, especially as the summer is when no regular income comes in
I don't know how the club treat income but for accounting purposes I'd have thought most businesses would defer receipt until the accounting year to which it related. Do football clubs do that? If so, the accounts for the year ended June 2016 would include the season ticket receipts from last year, not this.
I assume the income from the 2016/17 season tickets will be deferred to that FY, but the cash balance at 30/6/16 will be markedly lower than a year before
Still can't believe how many of you have fronted up your money for them

Back on thread and Airman and others will confirm this or otherwise but we couldn't get a safety certificate at the Valley and Hulyer had taken us to the brink of being wound up and folding completely so Selhurst was a sink or swim alternative. And yes I continued to follow them there and to Upton Park. Others decided not to partly because of the horrendous journey across South London in those days round the South Circular. We had no alternative!
This is a completely different kettle of fish IMO and as there are other interested owners out there I say get riid of RD and everything he stands for ASAP. If that means boycotting to hurt him in the pocket and anything else that makes the club unmanageable for him, then let's do it as one.
The club could have continued to play at The Valley. It may have resulted in the loss of part of the area behind the west stand under an agreement the board had itself entered into with Michael Glisten, but ultimately the club sold part of that land for housing anyway. The fact Glisten never developed the land once the club left suggests that he wasn't implacable on that point. The safety authority (the GLC at the time) was willing to allow the club to use three sides of the ground. Leaving was a choice made by John Fryer, disguised as a necessity in order to manage public opinion.
I agree that people shouldn't be criticised for renewing as it's the choice of the individual.

No. I think those buying season tickets should be critisised at every opportunity. We need to make Duchatelet's running of the club as difficult as is possible. Handing over cash up front not only undermines that but gives him a PR victory.
Just my opinion but I think anyone who knows the score and understands what CARD represents and still buys a season ticket needs shooting.
I'd be interested to hear an argument as to why disclosing the number of season tickets sold is "commercially sensitive". What conceivable use is this information to any rival business, especially as they don't have the contact details of the non-renewals?
Given that anyone can get a fair idea from looking at the club's online booking system, what exactly is the commercial advantage in keeping a precise number secret?

Perhaps releasing the true figures would just be too embarrassing?

No need to make up another lie then. Just say "we don't release season-ticket figures" (except of course they do, when it suits them, and the Football League discloses them eventually anyway).
I'm surprised its that many. They must either watch a different game to the one we see or they all have their heads in the sand. How can anybody commit to suffering more of the same, on & off the pitch, next season.
Unless, of course, the chief WUMmer Colin has bought them all!
Suffering and pain goes with supporting our club! Its a free added extra.
im not buying one but if people do they get what there paying for so dont come crying on here when the team are beyond shit and were sailing on down to league 2.

That's kinda the point. They won't come on here. Frankly, most of them won't go anywhere crying, and very few of them will ever come on here.
You see it's not always about where the money goes and who the owner is. Clearly that matters to a lot of people, but for some it is just purchasing something that they want - a ticket to watch their team.
Maybe League One football is not for you. Maybe you are only interested in watching Charlton in the top two divisions. That's fine, I don't like third division football either, but for many they can't imagine not going so why wouldn't they buy their season ticket? I'm not advocating that they should have done, just that they don't think like you so you can't assume that they would come on here and moan (like you do).
In reality most fans that have been coming for over twenty years will have had plenty to moan about so coming again next year isn't likely to make them start now.

Well those people need to get their head out their arses. This ownership is like no other and is a threat to OUR football club. It's not about Div 1 football - nothing whatsoever. I've enjoyed the up and down ride of supporting Charlton over 40+ years and it's never been about which division we are in. The fact is we simply must drive these people out of OUR club. How much more proof do some people need, to be persuaded that we are fighting for the future of OUR club?

more than happy to watch the team in any league but wont be giving a penny to roland if i can help it will still follow the team away as i have for a good few years, i stopped my season ticket a few years back as i was prioritising going to an away game over a home game, so i tend to just pay on the day for home games.
the tradition thing i always understand, started going to charlton games with my grandad, went once with him this season and it was on a day with the card anti refreshment protests, he wanted a pint at the game so we got one, for me it was a one off and he passed last month so was glad we got one last game together, a lot of people have traditions, and would be a void to fill on a saturday afternoon.
also wasnt assuming anything if said if they do moan would fall on deaf ears.

Sorry, I think you've misunderstood my post. The point I was making is that most of those that have renewed don't come on here so my question is, just who were you hoping would read your warnings change their behaviour?

If you stopped buying a season ticket a few years ago are you actually withdrawing your money from Roland or are you just continuing your existing behaviour?

I understand your point, but surely these people have an opinion, don't they? I mean, do they never question anything? There must be intelligent people amongst them. So they either pay no attention whatsoever to how the club is run (weird) or they do pay attention but they choose to ignore it. (more weird)

The area I sit in is full even in the bad times. For that reason nearly everybody has renewed as they know that they would have lost their seats had they not.
I too have renewed reluctantly for that reason and partially salved my conscience by donating the 'early bird' saving (2 x£25) to the Protest Fund.
All the people around me are pissed off with the regime and support the protests but for various reasons they have renewed and will continue to go.
Many of us are old codgers and as one bloke put it when we discussed renewing 'this might be the last season I'm well enough to be able to go.' As I suffer today with another arthritic attack which would prevent my attendance if there was a game as the walk from the car to the ground and back would be too much I can empathise with that chap's view. None of us know how our health is going to hold up after sixty.
I have not spent a penny in the ground or purchased programmes or jackpot tickets since all this started. I fully intend continuing that stance too as long as this mob are at the helm unless there is an unlikely Damascusian conversion of some description!

gradually taken it down used to average 10-12 home games a season, and when we go we usually get in early have a couple of drinks etc, this season ive been to 2 games, 1 of which i drove so literally was just a ticket and no refreshments.
The point I was making is that most of those that have renewed don't come on here so my question is, just who were you hoping would read your warnings change their behaviour?
I really don't know how you could possibly know that, other than it being a huge assumption.

And next season while you are driving these people out of our club by your absence, there will be those that will be in the ground making their displeasure known to all the world
I wonder which will have a greater impact on a multi-millionaire who is probably will still be able to book a nice annual return on his investment even if it is generating negative cashflow because you and others won't be there next season ?
Something else to consider, with Leicester winning the Premiership (hopefully) I suspect the market for selling league clubs with a decent fanbase is about to get a lot better.
