Does anyone know why we aren't starting at 10:30 today?
I would have though , having lost an entire session yesterday, that that would be the case.
They try to make the time up at the end of the day.
Yes - I know we can play until 7.
But I don't get why we would risk bad light etc, when we could go out at 10:30 when we know it's fine.
Seems strange - hey ho.
Joe, its because, here in England, the playing conditions are generally set for an 11 o'clock start in order to make the wicket as dry as possible. Extra time is added on at end of day as obviously the wicket will be in a condition that wont make it advantageous for bowling - which they believe might be the case for 10.30 start. You wont remember this, but many moons ago, in the 50 over final - it was always played in September 10.30 start, and essentially it was a case of win the toss, win the game, because you would normally bowl first and whip 3 or 4 out before the wicket dried properly.
Essex have signed Wahab Riaz and Adam Milne. I'm not having this chat about B list overseas players
Wow, thats some pace duo .
Not exactly huge names, but they are very, very quick. I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow, briefly, through the hood of my raincoat. funnily enough our most effective bowlers of recent years have been David Masters and last season Jesse Ryder. The conditions and small ground suit trundlers.
I would suggest Wahab Riaz is a big name and Adam Milne will be a big name- both VERY quick.

I don't know my sky go details and hoping to watch an hour over lunch!
Hales 75* (177)
Bairstow 84* (123)
A very unlike Hales innings but one that I'm sure will stand him in good stead for the future.

We do like a collapse.
So sad that his dad couldn't be around to see him score it at the ground that is and was their home.
One a piece for Jimmy and Broad - both caught by Bairstow.
Another for Broad and another catch for Bairstow!
Playing a test match in Yorkshire in May is a recipe for disaster
