  • Does anybody know a stream for this.

I don't know my sky go details and hoping to watch an hour over lunch!
  • 206-5

    Hales 75* (177)
    Bairstow 84* (123)

A very unlike Hales innings but one that I'm sure will stand him in good stead for the future.
  • In fact Hales scored just 6 in the first hour today whereas Bairstow has hit 30.
  • Hales out 86

    224-6
  • And then he gives his wicket up after doing all the hard work.
  • I feel for him. He deserved a ton.
  • This cricket is so boring, even the commentators have pissed off.
  • 231-7

  • Bairstow and Hales the only two with patience and respect here. Thought it'd be a walk in the park but not so much.
  • Broad played on 2

    233-8

    We do like a collapse.

Does anyone know why we aren't starting at 10:30 today?

I would have though , having lost an entire session yesterday, that that would be the case.

They try to make the time up at the end of the day.

Yes - I know we can play until 7.

But I don't get why we would risk bad light etc, when we could go out at 10:30 when we know it's fine.

    Seems strange - hey ho.
Joe, its because, here in England, the playing conditions are generally set for an 11 o'clock start in order to make the wicket as dry as possible. Extra time is added on at end of day as obviously the wicket will be in a condition that wont make it advantageous for bowling - which they believe might be the case for 10.30 start. You wont remember this, but many moons ago, in the 50 over final - it was always played in September 10.30 start, and essentially it was a case of win the toss, win the game, because you would normally bowl first and whip 3 or 4 out before the wicket dried properly.

Cricket in general is not known for its use of common sense, to say the rules and procedures are rigid is an understatement.

For a reason in this instance though CHG - as explained to A2tR above.

Essex have signed Wahab Riaz and Adam Milne. I'm not having this chat about B list overseas players ;)

Wow, thats some pace duo .
Not exactly huge names, but they are very, very quick. I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow, briefly, through the hood of my raincoat. funnily enough our most effective bowlers of recent years have been David Masters and last season Jesse Ryder. The conditions and small ground suit trundlers.
I would suggest Wahab Riaz is a big name and Adam Milne will be a big name- both VERY quick.
  • 289-9 Bairstow gone 140
  • 298 All out
  • 298 all out
  • SL 12/2

One a piece for Jimmy and Broad - both caught by Bairstow.

  • I thought 298 was a below par score but I forgot Sri Lanka are shite!
  • 12/3

Another for Broad and another catch for Bairstow!
  • Oh dear Sri Lanka. Bet they are praying for some downpour.
  • i missed a trick here - i wonder what Englands odds were when they were 80odd for 5?

England never went outside evens on Betfair, kept an eye on it.

  • Jimmy giving SL a bit of lip - wasnt it SL who got really upset with Jimmy last time?, or was that India?
  • India I think - mainly Jadeja.
  • Bad light stops play.

Playing a test match in Yorkshire in May is a recipe for disaster
