I'm not sure why but I don't really want Slade. There, I said it.
Same here. I can't explain why but I'm not keen.
Is it because it's a "safe" appointment and one that doesn't exactly inspire. I can get that but under the current circumstances I will happily take it.
There is a saying that "Beggars can't be Choosers"
It would appear that Wilder and probably other possible managers have already turned us down, and therefore it it appears that no decent managers are prepared to work for Roland and Squirrel face.
Where does that leave Charlton, well it leaves us in the shit!
If Russell Slade is prepared to come here I say yes please, because make no mistake who else is there likely to be?
Unless Roland has something up his sleeve Russell Slade is probably the Best of a Bad Bunch. At least he is English and knows League 1.
Considering the job only been offered to one person who lets not forget accepted it ...... until his hometown club come calling , how can any one else turn it down ??
Word on the street is we have been turned down by several managers. You can only guess the reasons.
The club under this regime are damaged goods. A laughing stock within the wider footballing community.
No-one will get the assurances they will want regarding control and as such we will be limited to an internal appointment, a friend of the network or someone with low stock.
The situation is of the owners making. He can't do anything to put it right.
2-3 weeks time we get Nobby (as an interim) and we sign a load of leftover dross.
The Addicks are set to unveil their new manger in the early part of next week, and the recruitment process will then crank up a notch. It will be a hectic summer at The Valley, there will be a lot of activity, both in and out. The club will be anxious to move a number of players on in order to free up funds for new arrivals. Same for me, but then I can't imagine any appointment that I would be happy with under these people.
Scenario 1: we appoint yet another Network Numpty. Not happy with that for obvious reasons. Scenario 2: we appoint someone from outside the network. However, taking into account what we know about Wilder turning us down, and what we know about Roland and Katrien, you have to presume that anyone from outside the network who agrees to join is either too stupid to see through their lies, or has agreed to sign up without the appropriate assurances concerning control over transfers and team selection, or is just so desperate for any job that they don't care about the baggage that comes with it.
I don't understand why anyone with any integrity or self-respect would be willing to work for these idiots, so I'm deeply suspicious of anyone that they appoint.
It doesn't matter what manager we appoint, unless RD and KM get out of our club. If they remain, they will fiddle and interfere, and whatever a new man tries to do will be undermined. I don't want Charlton to fail, but if getting Nobby Vinegar and another six months of poor results means that RD will bog off and we get a new owner in, then that will be fine by me. What we as fans cannot do is support this regime, even if Ryan Giggs comes in and we win our first ten games.
But I really think that success in getting back to the Championship will actually improve the chances of our excuse of a director to sell-up.
Do you really believe that we have a chance of going up @Shrew? I mean, we know that Igor and JBG are leaving, and also that pretty much any decent offer for any other player will be accepted (Lookman, Cousins, Pope, Fox, Teixeira, Bauer, Kashi, etc). Even if RD can't sell all of them, their wages will be such a strain (especially with the CARD embargo on season tickets and in stadium sales) that they will all be dumped out on loan just to get them off the wage bill, and to ensure we remain within the FFP salary cap (how ironic it would be if RD, such a fan of FFP, falls foul of it due to his incompetence at getting us relegated...). Would RD be more likely to sell us as a Championship outfit, or a League 2 shambles? And if so, which is more likely?

Oh I do love a manger! Will Katrien have it nicely on show in the foyer, so she can walk past it on the way into work every other afternoon?
How long before "the early part of next week" becomes "hopefully by the end of the week" and then into the week after?
Ketts has been predicting the unveiling of a manager at some point in the near future for the last three weeks so I won't get my hopes up until it's announced.

Every week it has been predicted to be the beginning of the next week. What if this manager pulls out like Wilder, back to another 4 weeks of searching?

That Doucher fella who was posting on here the other day said the new man would be in place by the end of the week. The problem with all these "in the know" connected types is that they never specify which week they're talking about.

To be fair. They shot their mouth off with Wilder and got totally embarrassed when it went tits up. I can certainly see why they are keeping a tight a lid as possible on this until the new man is pictured in front of the East Stand.

They're probably delaying it until they find scarfy.....

'new man will b in place by end of week - don't know name but know level of experience, contract length and to an extent, where he's from' - this was my post.
I'd guess the deal was done early this week, the contracts will be completed by the end of this week (hence he will be 'in place' with press conference early next week. I've also advised he's not a network puppet and the details i know means it marks a change of strategy (along with the new head scout). I still don't know the name but was told what I was told early this week and, as I say, the source is cast iron. No colinitus here.
If it really does show a change of strategy from the club it will have to be someone like Warnock who won't take any interference from upper management and their Belgian laptop scouts.
As much as I like Slade, he would not represent a change of direction, just them finally hiring someone british and who is not a complete no mark like the last few.
I think Russell Slade is an OK Manager. Did well at Leyton Orient, did OK at Cardiff. If it is him i should not be too disappointed. But the bigger picture, to me, is still to rid ourselves of the Belgians.

hang your heads in shame. Losers.
What is amazing is that this still doesn't seem to be the case.

It will still be business as usual.
