And KM said 'his appointment is the start of an exciting new era at the Club', a bold statement to make although in truth it will be just another lie.
She loves that phrase, the dozy cow. It was "the start of a new era" on last year's season ticket promotional stuff as well. What it actually means is "please can we forget about the catalogue of cock-ups that preceded the arrival of this week's new manager/head coach".
Should be an interesting press conference with some obvious questions to ask - let's hope the press are allowed to ask them... I won't begin to believe anything has changed or has the potential to change until I hear Slade say he has total and full control. Also reading that statement from the club, I find anything Meire says makes me feel physically sick - even something that should be positive.
Can anyone confirm whether he is manager or head coach?
The article clearly states "manager", but of what it doesn't say. Usually you'd expect someone to be announced as the new First Team Manager. With that in mind, I reckon Nobby Vinegar's still on his way as first team head coach, and Russell has replaced Fat Mandy as the Ticket Office Manager.
How does it feel runnin' around round round how does it feel watchin' from upside down 'cos many years from now there will be new sensations and new temptations How does it feel
How does it feel right at the start and how does it feel when you are thrown apart 'cos many years from now there will be new elations and new frustrations
At least I can finally start listening to a manager postmatch who doesn't talk in riddles. Welcome Russell and best of luck.
What manager in the English game says anything of any substance or insight in a postmatch press conference? I'm not including discussion of the referees performance as substantive. Riga was at times bland, at times confusing, and occasionally insightful, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking we're going to start getting Italian style post-match pressers where detailed tactical analyses are discussed.
Once we've managed to get back into the Championship, and have subsequently completed a full season there with the "manager" retaining control of player selection and transfer activity, THEN and only then will I believe that this signifies a change of strategy by the regime.
Even if Nobby Slade has control this season and gets us up I still think it's just desperation on KM/RD's part and as soon as we're back in the Championship they'll revert to type. I don't believe that an old egotistical psycho like Roland will suddenly change his ways - everything we know about the man suggests otherwise.
This changes nothing for me. Unfortunately I can't get to the Valley tomorrow but I would love it if there were anti-Roland protests to greet the journalists coming to the press conference.

Does any Manager have total and full control? Some have more control than others but there aren't many Brian Clough models around these days.

Curbs was supposed to when he was at West Ham. That's how he was able to sue them for constructive dismissal when they flogged a couple of players without his consent.
The board have changed their way of thinking so its time to get back behind the team ... If you don't want to go to games that your choice but lets now give Russell Skade time and support and let's see how we do at least till Xmas ....
Dear me Colin. How long has that one been drafted with your finger hovering over the send button?
It is way too soon and with extremely limited evidence to suggest that "the board have changed their way of thinking". Let's see:
- what the player recruitment strategy is, i.e. young untested v old stagers v cheap out of contracts v hopeful loans - what kind of signings he is actually able to make and what his role is in their recruitment - what that tells us about the real playing budget - what his backroom staff will be - what players he is able to retain - whether the board start to show any real concern for the feelings of the fans - whether they start to fill important roles and run the club like a proper club should be run - whether they start to communicate openly, honestly and in a timely manner
Until I start to see positive signs on all of those, at the very least, I'm not going to think for one second that the board have changes in any sense at all.
Good luck Russell, the proof of the pudding will be in the transfer dealings in the next 2 months (both in and out) which will show who's actually in charge
Cannot assume this appointment signals a change from the regime. After all, Meire's accompanying comments still have the same smell of bullshit we are used to. No reason to change CARD tactics, no reason not to continue the boycott.
Acceptable appointment but it's not going to make me go and buy a season ticket. Mind you, Curbs, Powell, Ranieri or Mourinho wouldn't have that effect either!

I hope you get the backing you need and look forward to some good news on the player front over the next few days.
I hope we get promoted and Roland leaves.
