Slade has won stuff, manager of the month x 3 and two manager of the year in League One, how much had Curbs won before he was appointed, or any of our previous managers for that matter. The last 6 years as a manager he has been pretty successful and not is coming on off a couple of sackings. He has more experience than Wilder. Not a bad appointment IF it happens.8

Can't believe we would want him, lazy so and so1

Kenwyne Jones, one in four striker but now getting past it. No no no no no! We need to know who is recruiting players. Hopefully not RD keyboard scouts.1

If Kenwyn Jones is the answer then getting rid of Slade is the solution.10

Jones would rip league 1 apart. No way could we get him.8

I remember hearing 15k/week for JBG, but that may have been before the new contract. Even at 25k a week, that's a decent deal if you look around what that gets you in the Prem. I suspect that's middle ground for a very good Championship player.
Regarding Kenwyne Jones, saw him in the flesh a couple times for Sunderland. He could be an absolute handful, very good player on his day. I think it was John Terry who said at one point that he was the toughest player to play against in the division.
That said, those days were a long, long time ago. The amount he would probably cost in wages would almost certainly be prohibitive. If it came down to him or a lower league journeyman, I'd probably take a punt on him. He's only 31 and even if he's a one-in-four striker, if he fancies it, he can be an excellent modern center forward. I fear that it will end up being a lower league journeyman, as it seems that most of the handful of player we have been linked with have been the rest of the lower leagues.1 -
If it is Slade, the one element of credit he has is that he didn't get the job by going behind the previous manager's back, unlike every other appointment under the RD regime. Personally I would have preferred another network appointment, if only to reinforce the perception of farce that is CAFC, and to accelerate RD / KM's demise. This has the danger of being "acceptable".8

We were wrong to appoint him AND wrong to sack him.Godstone said:
