And straight in at top of the ITK charts must be 'DOUCHER' - might even celebrate this highly esteemed position by changing my name back to Bexley Dan - never been comfortable with this new name. I'll be revealing whether we will be staying in or out of Europe next week so stay tuned!!
Bexley Dan?
Where have you been? Last season we could have done with you in midfield.
Think Watt will stay now ..... How other player will feel about that who knows
I don't see Watt staying. He's burned to many bridges with too many people. The most influential player at the club is JJ and I doubt they could now get along.

I'm still massively uneasy with the whole fact that they didn't give Wilder written assurances over football and the fact that Slade has taken the job. Can't see them changing their mind in the 2 weeks in between, and worry that Slade has accepted knowing he won't have full control. If this is the case then an irrelevant appointment.
Only time will tell. I welcome the fact he's British, I welcome the fact he's had a long career at the lower levels. I just can't trust any act under this regime anymore
Also, for me, massive amount to be done on the playing front. Assuming player departures, this is the team for me next season

I honestly believe it's that bleak in that squad, and that's a lot of positions to fill
Colin, please stop banging on about how the other players don't like Watt.
Several of us on here spoke to several different senior players at the POTY awards and they all said the same, they have no issue with Watt, there are fallings out and immediate makings up. They like him. So can it.

I suspect that the ones you spoke to might not have a problem with him. There are others who can't be in the same room.

I love Jacko, and I think we're making too many assumptions about who Watt fell out with, but he's still young and could give his career to Charlton, Jackson is at the end of his...

Maybe the ones who can't stand him will be going e.g. JBG
Reasonable appointment. Good seasons at this level with Yeovil in 2007 and Leyton Orient in 2014. No illusions about the task ahead but I'd take a season on rebuilding if required.
Curious thing is.........Cardiff City owner (Vincent Tan) also owns a club in Belgium, KV Kortrijk, who featured in the end of season play-offs for the Europa League with Sint Truiden. Tan also has a club in Bosnia-Hercegovina.
I wonder if Duchatelet finally got around to speaking to someone else (Tan) about the strength of the UK Championship and that helped nudge him in the direction of Slade?
Watt lives in Woolwich. Source: my own eyes seeing him in CAFC training shorts, a vest and a hat swigging a can on the balcony of a flat in Royal Arsenal a few months back.
Righto, so when the question is 'We heard Tony had a few high profile fallings out with players, do you think that will affect his ability to play for the club again?'
And the answer is 'No, Tony is tony, we've all had a falling out with him but there are never any ill feelings in the morning', it must be still the case that there are players who can't stand him.
I remember JBG and TW on the pitch looking like they were frustrated with each other but I think we might be reading too much into this.
I thought Fanny had spoken to JJ who said he had no issue with TW but I can't be sure I've remembered that right.

He definitely lives in Royal Arsenal. I used to live there round the corner from him.

Didn't you say two year contract, English and ex-player. So 1 out of 3. : - )
No I didn't, as I pointed out previously, Scoham or somebody said that - you can check that if you want to trawl back over the thread Henry - there's no shame in you not being ITK Henry and I'm really not in the business of pretending to be - that would be a bit sad wouldn't it?
but when asked for more detail you quoted Scoham's post saying two years, ex-player and English
No shame in not being in the know, bit sad pretending to be though I agree ; - )
Incorrect Henry - I knew the length of contract (but didn't state it), I knew the level of experience and where he was from within reason. To try and argue that I said he had a 2 year contract would only make you look silly because I never did and never implied that in any way. Why is it so important to you? Now that seems a bit sad.
Why so touchy? Didn't you the smiley
as you said you didn't state the length of contract or level of experience or where he was from so surprised to then see you claiming that you were the new Colin. Can't have it both ways another similey in case you haven't realised you were getting your leg, gently, pulled : -
not touchy henry but when the board know it all tries to be clever and gets it so wrong, its irresistible. i told the board that ithe deal was done last tuesday and that it would be in place by the end of the week. I knew all details other than the name. That gives me - the tongue in cheek - title of ITK champ - a title which the board know it all tried to undermine - bizzarre really and i'm a bit dissapointed to log on and found you've backtracked - i was hoping for a long pedantic and tedious debate - smiley thing.

still waiting for the call - i would have been better suited to the championship mind you
The announcement tonight that "Russell Slade will give his first interview as Addicks Manager on cafc.co.uk tomorrow" hardly fills me with hope given the club seems ignorant of the difference between an interview and a press release. Can't imagine questions about Roland and independence popping up.
If he wants to win fans over - and good luck with that - he will actually face journalists, if not fans, and answer tough questions to clear the air. Anything on cafc.co.uk is a waste of time.
I'm not a huge fan of Slade but he seems a decent man. And there in lies a problem. Has he got the balls to stand up to our owners? I'm not so sure. But I would imagine he'll be good with the players and will at least have some tactical sense and knowledge of the lower leagues. I'll support him 100%. The next questions are; is he allowed to chose his own backroom team and will he sign the players HE wants? I'm sceptical. I can't see RD and KM suddenly giving away control.
No promotions but look at the clubs he was managing. In League One he took Yeovil to a play-off final, an overachievement. Narrowly missed out on the play-offs twice with Orient, again not a club expected to be fighting for promotion. Brighton brought him in to keep them up and he did. They were still at the Withdean and a smaller club at the time.
It's not as he's failed to take one of the favourites up from League One. We're by far the biggest club he's managed at this level.
That said I'm not expecting much because I don't think he'll be allowed to build a strong enough squad. League One won't change RD and KMs plans for several academy players to break through and the way to force that to happen is by keeping the squad size small.

Now I ain't saying that everything's changed and all is rosy, but it's a start.
Welcome to The Valley, Russell. Hopefully you won't regret it once the holiday drugs wear off.

We know he's not the problem and might just be with a lot of luck part of the solution.
The unfair critisism of Slade at this point on here is altogether just too tiresome.
