It is if other clubs are aware of the agreed fee and make a higher offer

Birmingham are going to offer the same amount as us as they know it'll be accepted... They cant turn round to Swindon and say: We'll offer you £900k yet you've now got to tell Charlton that their bid isnt good enough.
That would be a big tick in the box for me. I dare say he had others willing to pay that amount but if he has chosen us over them then it's hopefully a sign of Slade's pulling power

By accepting our bid, it's in our/Ajose's hands as if we agree a contract then he will sign for us regardless of any other bids being made/accepted
So, in short, nothing like an auction
