  • De Sciglio in off the crossbar... oof.
  • I'm loving this penalty shootout. Haven't laughed so much in ages.
  • Boateng scores for 5-5.
  • Darmian saved by Neuer...
  • Hector scores. The Germans win.
  • Arrgh had a tenner on Italy at 16's, fucking Zaza and Pelle
  • Unbelievable. Miss three pens and still win.
  • Fucking Germs.
  • There were some absolute stinkers in that collection of penalties. Buffon should have saved that last one. No idea how they managed to lose that after Muller, Ozil and Schweinsteiger all missed.

Germans very lucky to get through that.
  • Feel for Buffon, really like the guy.

  • Last two penalties were identical. One the keeper got to, the other just squeezed under Buffon. Such bad luck.
  • What makes it worse is that that plank was subbed on in the last minute of extra time specifically to take a penalty.
  • Like watching England taking penalties.

Very surprised that so few got onto target.

Still , Germany edged the game and so no issues with them going through to the semi against Iceland
  • Pelle tries to kid Neuer and then scuffs it wide.
  • I watched this as a genuine neutral and really didn't mind who won.
Maybe because of this, I noticed just how dejected the pundits sounded at the result. I would understand this if the game involved England or one of the other home nations. Even Republic of Ireland is understandable. But why the assumption that we all want Germany to lose? I know there's history, but aren't we past that now? And surely the broadcasters have a duty to be neutral?

I guess it doesn't matter that much, but it did irritate me.

How funny was Pelles penalty! Gives it the big spuds telling Neuer he is going to put it straight down the middle and then shanks it wide. Wahahahahanker!!!!

I was quite happy to see Germany go through only because of all the gamesmanship crap the Italians get up to. Play the game you might win it.
  • France's tournament to lose now imo. Think Gomez is a big miss for Germany and their flair midfielders suffer without that focal point to the attack.

I don't rate Portugal at all, and surely beating France in the final, I'm France is beyond Wales.

France really should have too much for Iceland.

  • Time for Iceland tomorrow then... come on you beautiful bearded Viking bar stewards, stick it to the French.
  • Germany win on penalties. Who'd have thunk it.

Mind you, at least they actually missed their first penalty shoot out penalty, since 1982.

I think that's really harsh on this particular Italian side. Their performance against Spain was absolutely brilliant, and it could have been 4/5-0 after 75 minutes, and duly could have finished 5-5 had the teams taken all their chances. It's a very limited team, Thiago Motta wears the #10 shirt ffs, and losing Candreva and De Rossi were huge losses. Massive credit to Conte for getting so much out of that side.
  • Picked Poland, Belgium, Italy and France to go through....

I think we should all lump on Iceland tomorrow
  • 0409 and getting in to bed in Berlin.

I got a cheap German touristy shirt, and by the time I got to the bar tonight I was complete with bracelets, Hawaiin style coloured flower necklaces and inflatables. The locals seemed to find it hilarious to hear an Englishman decked out in German gear, so added to it. I think my mate acquired a German flag along the way.

Honestly? The match was a bit dry and bland at times, and the penalty shoot out was.. Well, pretty poor. That said, I think the Germans deserved the victory.

The amosphere here was great, met some nice guys and incredible girls and I'm pretty chuffed for Germany.
