I watched this in the old Olympic football stadium in Munich alongside 20 or so thousand Germans. What a stadium that is and the Germans know how to celebrate.
I watched this as a genuine neutral and really didn't mind who won. Maybe because of this, I noticed just how dejected the pundits sounded at the result. I would understand this if the game involved England or one of the other home nations. Even Republic of Ireland is understandable. But why the assumption that we all want Germany to lose? I know there's history, but aren't we past that now? And surely the broadcasters have a duty to be neutral?
I guess it doesn't matter that much, but it did irritate me.
I was quite happy to see Germany go through only because of all the gamesmanship crap the Italians get up to. Play the game you might win it.
The Italians looked like they were playing for penalties from the start. Glad Germany won.
Portugal would surely prefer a France win. Yes they'd have home advantage but at least their defence can be got at, i can't really see any weak links in the German side
Germany pass the ball with purpose all the time. So much better to watch than someone like Spain.
Germany play like England should. They're not direct, as on long ball, but they are direct as in, they just want to get on the front foot and into the attacking third as quickly as possible.

Incredible really.
They expect to reach semi finals at a minimum, we put out the bunting and have street parties if we reach a quarter final.
What a stadium that is and the Germans know how to celebrate.
there were 7 missed pens
They're world champions for a reason.
