I have given my office the afternoon off to watch the game, just can't understand why you wouldnt, it's just a couple of hours. I have found cover for one of my Welsh battlefield guides to watch the game in France. It's the non football watching peeps that are the most excited about it.

To be fair we don't get many Scots that come on tour with us Steve
Kick off is awful time for me as I will still be at work and because of Ramadan, I cant even slip for off for a beer and watch it.
Perfect timing in Dubai. 5.00 kick off and everyone knocks off about 2.00 for Ramadan. And Friday is the weekend here. And we've found a place with the much sought after early booze licence. Happy days.
Had to take a half days holiday to watch it (booked it as soon as the fixtures were confirmed). Will finish about 1 and get back home to Bedfordshire ASAP, in time to get to the local for 2.
Did the same for the Costa Rica game at the Brazil World Cup in 2014, but as we were out by then and I was royally fed up, I ended up cancelling the holiday and working through it!

Hang on I'm confused... Are you a Muslim? If so surely beers off the menu anyway?
I'll be missing it because we're not allowed to watch it at work and I didn't have the foresight to book it off.
This confused me too, but I presumed he didn't want to come back smelling of alcohol during Ramadan.
I remember tucking in to a greasy bacon sarnie, hungover and feeling horrendous during Ramadan last year - just for my Muslim co-worker to arrive at the office earlier than usual.. I felt awful for the poor chap. Same goes for rocking up from the boozer after a long lunch, and slumping over my desk belching up the faint waft of beer.
I cannot understand any offices in England or Wales today that are not allowing staff the requisite 2 hours to watch the biggest home nations game for 20 years.
A small gesture that would go along way in boosting morale surely.

LR Are you in Dubai? Be good to find another addick here. I am based in DIFC but live in JBR.

Gutted for those who can't watch it.
Agreed... Bet the Managers are loving it, all that power they have over their staff, bet they're the pathetic low lifes that jerk off in their offices over this sort of thing
Have rejected a conspicuous number of meeting invites for the afternoon, not sure I'm going to get away with it. My best chance is a few people leaving to go to the pub between 1-2pm and it sparking a chain reaction.

To be fair, I've worked in offices where PornHub has been blocked too..

Because some companies would lose a hell of a lot of money by not trading for two hours as they speak to clients all over the world who don't give a shit about the game.

Hi @All_Thaid_Up Yeah, I'm in Dubai, living in Sports City. (Moving to Springs next week though) I assumed, from your moniker that you were in Thailand! How come you're working until 6? Aren't all firms supposed to reduce hours this month?
Anyway, we're off to the Fanzone at Kickers in Sports City. Licence from 4pm. PM me if you fancy putting a face to a name . I've heard Barasti is open and serving too, which might be handier for you?
Office has been good and said people can watch but they have to make up the time later. Fair but I can't see many actually bothering to make the time up!
I decided to take the afternoon off in the end. But I am setting up the telly in the conference room for the game and told my boss I'm ordering pizza for him and office to be delivered for 2pm. I'm good like that. He is American but been here so long him/they are big England supporters.

Grandson is representing the school at an area sports day, who organised that!

The people on here with family and work engagements need to prioritise their lives better

Most of the bars near me don't serve alcohol in the daytime only in the evening.
Sorry for the confusion.
