Seems wasted absorbed in the Transfers Thread, if the price being floated around is true then that's a hugely disappointing deal.

I am still not convinced the price floating about is correct.

All I'll say is that from that list only Joe Gomez was a Championship player... All the other fees received are as a League One team

A bad deal for Roland Duchatalet, which is a good thing.

Really? Won't it just increase his sale price as we have more 'friendly' debt?

Classic announce a new deal just before a shitty transfer.

I think that definitely plays a huge part in it. It not all down to the competence of the negotiator, although representatives from the seller and the buyer obviously play a part in that.

The biggest issue for us though, for lots of reasons, Belgian mismanagement among them but not alone, we keep finding ourselves in a weak bargaining position.

I've seen the comparisons between the fee for JBG and what Brighton have supposedly rejected for Stephens, but Brighton are a club who are performing well, on and off the pitch and have done so for several consecutive years. That means financially they are less stress to sell, but also they are providing a rewarding environment for their players meaning they are less likely to push hard for a move.

We're caught in a bit of a viscous cycle and have been for some time and that leaves us vulnerable and I;m sure buying clubs know that and will seek to use it their advantage.

If that price is anywhere near correct then it's an absolute disgrace!

I'm sure the club will unofficially tell us that the price is not correct. With no more details

    Fine.

We have lost Jonjo Shelvey, Jordan Cousins, Harry Arter, Darren Randolph and Diego Poyet for the price of Dwight Gayle from Peterborough in League One and lost Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Gomez (in the Championship), Harry Arter, Darren Randolph and Diego Poyet for the price of Fabian Delph from Leeds in League One.

Joe Gomez was the one that was the real give-away.

Absolutely appalling fee if true. £1.5m. We should be asking for double! Young, English, CM, POTS twice and loyal with youth international caps up to U21 level (he's only 22).

Same goes for JBG. Should be looking to get more for him from Burnley who are struggling to sign players in a league where money is getting thrown around ridiculously (I.e £10m from Palace for James Tomkins hahahahahaha).

    This club is laughable.

I don't think £1.5m (if true) is completely unreasonable all things considered. Cousins has just been relegated, we are a third division team. He is a standard regular, up and down midfielder with a good engine, erratic passing skills and not enough goals in him.

My main concern is that he isn't replaced properly and that our paper thin squad is stretched even further while the cash just goes into the massive black hole that Duchatalet has created in Charlton's finances.

Is this the right time to remind everyone thst Richard Murray said the days of Charlton selling our best players on the cheap were over with the arrival of Duchatalet. One relegation and one useless CEO later, seems like that was just another fairy tale for the idiot fans to be happy with.

Big fat liar just like the rest of them.

Viscous, definition: having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid.
Yep, we're definitely in that EA

I must be the only one missing something here, or is the reaction to the fee due to the previous low amount received for Gomez. I think Cousins at 1.5 is pretty much what he's worth

It's a bottom line numbers game for our beleaguered CEO to meet budget targets set by the Douchbag, nothing more nothing less.

To all saying that he is worth 1.5mil, you may well be right. He has many limitations and 1.5 does represent a decent fee for a player of his ability

Where the anger comes from is how this transfer stacks up comparative to other movers in this joke of a transfer window. I cannot see any argument which makes the Cousins fee some reasonable in light of the other fees that people are paying for two bob players, some of which DO come from League 1.

It's pants down time for us, yet again.

Agree with Prague. One of the supposed bonuses of dishing out 4 year deals is to protect your asset so that you get maximum value in a sale. Bit pointless if you then either put in ridiculously low release values or can't negotiate properly with the buying Club. Seem to be we will sell to the first to bid, if they hung on I'm sure they could get more out of both JC and JBG. Amazed in that we have turned down 900k for Pope, although I suspect the initial fee is a lot, lot less. And to anyone who thinks we will reinvest these funds, forget it. That boat sailed with Holmes and Ajose. Butter us up then kick us in the nuts later.

1.5 million seems about right to me. Cousins has been a committed, reliable. loyal player amongst some appalling and lack lustre ones. If the club hung on for more money and this failed they would be equally criticised.

No disrespect to those who think 1.5m is fair value, but for a 22yr old English player with 125 Championship games experience already and twice club PoTY who is secured on a long night contract, I don't think they appreciate how the money has moved on in the game of late.

Should be double for doing nights.

My hope and expectation following Slades appointment and the signings of Ajose, Novak and Holmes is now hanging on like grim death.

I just get the feeling that we are going to do the exact same as every other season. Get in a couple of decent players then go cheap and not too cheerful.

I still reserve judgement until the squad is complete but my hopes are fading fast.

Good luck Jordan. I wish we had you when we were a well run, respected club and not the cluster mess we are these days.

Derisory fee in my view but no surprise under this regime.

Cousins is a player I liked a lot but this was so predictable I feel absolutely nothing.
