Very rarely back Charlton last night backed them and both teams to score at 5/1!!, ah well will happily take the win, hopefully we can get 4 points out of the remaining 2 August fixtures and won't be that bad a start to the season.
I'm really, really sad that I see Charlton Athletic, my team, the team that I love and have so much emotional investment in, win 3-0 and I barely feel anything.

I agree it feels like a win for the regime now which it shouldn't be.
It is hard to support the team but not the regime, because if they win every match then the regime can't really be criticised.
Good solid performance. Shrewbury were not up to much, but you can only play against what you're up against. We took our foot off the gas in the 2nd half, which was a shame as there was another gear to go up to and really put them to the sword.
Holmes was unplayable at times, it's great to have an exciting player in team, one that wants to take players on and isn't frightened to shoot from anywhere. He's a real diamond and will be a firm fans favourite.
Magennis put another good shift in. Ajose just needs a goal, once he gets of the mark, he will score a hatful. Crofts did a good job, and Foley had his best game for us (I know he's only played 3). Nobody really had a poor game. We do need a creative midfielder, hopefully Slade will get that sorted - no way can we go with carry on with Crofts, Foley and JJ against better opposition.
Defence wasn't really tested.
Certainly not time to get carried away, but positive signs nonetheless.
Dispite not being his biggest fan, I'm pleased for Slade, and good that he had a bit of rapport going with the fans.
Also enjoyed the continued abuse directed at Rojo.
Hopefully we can kick on and get the 3 points at Walsall.
How did Ajose play? Great win obviously, but he needs a goal to get himself off and running, seems like the sort of player who once he gets 1, he'll go from strength to strength.
Went last night, but my visits will be sporadic. What did last night tell me? Well Holmes is the real deal - a fantastic signing. Very direct, great control and a turn of pace. Just gets the ball and makes positive runs as a matter of course. Midfield is too slow, It is a steady Eddie midfield. Jackson still has enough quality to cut it at this level. Crofts and Foley do a similar job, but Crofts is a bit better (which you would expect as one is a midfielder and the other isn't). We certainly need an injection of energy and pace in there. Fox was solid enough but his distribution and offensive play disapointed me. Solly was involved - his distribution was slightly off but it was clear he was above the level. Rudd looks a decent keeper - made one great save, although the Shrews player should have done better IMO. Ajose is lacking in confidence a bit but will be fine. Lookman is ready to tear opponents one big time. Magennis a big strong lump. Not particularly effective in the air, but he really bullies defenders and will be an asset to us at this level. Konsa learning the game still but will be one hell of a player and this run will be doing him good. Shrewsbury looked poor defensively from the start though. I think we could have won by more, but didn't really try too hard in the second half.
The midfield does need sorting as a priority. It is clear the league is poor, but Shrewsbury were particularly poor. An astute signing or two in that position should see us right up there. I know we have to be patient, but the season has started and this owner has previous for not addressing the obvious.
For Walsall, offensively we need to go Magennis, with Holmes and Lookman playing off them. Believe me - that combo away from home at this level will terrify!
Having given up my season ticket; i missed my 1st home for nearly 5 years on Saturday. Used my Dad's ticket last night and enjoyed the Ricky Holmes show.
Over the season, That midfield will frustrate, they all grafted last night, but if we let a team have that much of the ball we will come a cropper when the opposition forwards have their shooting boots on.
As a one off, it made a change and good to see the rapport between RS and the fans.
If we could get 1 more season out of Lookman and Bauer, and find a creative midfielder, we could finish in the top six ?
Like other good judges, if we can supply Ajose in the box he will deliver, not his night but i believe with support of the crowd he will come good.

He really came alive in the box. Showed very quick feet a couple of times to get space for a shot and was onto keeper rebounds like a flash. Missed two or three chances in this game but definitely has the attributes such as anticipation and positioning. I expect a strong season from him.

The only negative was a very strange last 10 mins, when they started singing anti Roger Johnson songs, which seemed bizarre to me considering everything was so happy.

I enjoyed it although as previously mentioned 2nd half was pretty slow.
First 15 mins fairly even maybe shrews edge a bit but grew into and quick goals killed it.
Best Foley moment was when he gave it away really badly, in a sort of 'people will give him 4 in Player Ratings' way, then immediately charged back and won it, putting him back to a 6
Was that the one in the second half as I thought the best moment when he won it back was when he passed it to a Charlton player second time around and then trotting back into position put his hand up acknowledging that it was his fault and that he was apologising for it.
Thought it was good to see a Charlton player taking responsibility for their actions and caring about a mistake... Something we've not seen for a while
Didn't think I'd be on here moaning about a 3-0 win but what the hell did RS say to them at half time?! We came out a totally different team, not pressing or taken the game to them. Shrewsbury are not a good team and if we could of taken the first half into the second we would of seen a 4/5 - 0. MOTM holmes

We are in League 1, we are a laughing stock in football. we don't know how to treat injured players. we have lost 50% of our crowd. we don't know how to treat staff, chief scout, goal keeping coach moved to better jobs. the CEO is a nightmeire. The head of comms lasts a month after being lied to about her remit, ETC ETC

With Micky Mellon’s side also still searching for their first goal, it was hosts Charlton Town who enjoyed their first victory of the season with three strikes inside 30 minutes.
I said on Saturday that there were some positive signs but we were still not yet playing like a team.
I still don't think we have gelled fully but this was a large step forward. Virtually all the players seem to be comfortable with the ball, some incredibly so - like Holmes attacking with the ball seemingly stuck to his feet and outpacing the opposition.
There is a will to win here and the best is yet to come.

Dont want to be Johnny Rain Cloud but we beat a team that was crud in a ten minute spell. The second half wasn't that good but probably because we had put the game to bed so early. We won't get too many these games in this league.
