    ????
    Me, Paulie!
    Realized you meant that.

Sorry at 1st I thought it was a put down as in i clearly have nothing better to do than look at news and post it on here
  • Big risk from him
  • Much bigger transfer budget no doubt at Stoke, and he fits the mould of Stoke managers over the last few years.
  • If only we knew some with an inside track on Stoke appointments so we could lump on with a firm that isn't Bet365

My professional integrity prevents me from telling you who the next Stoke manager will be.

  • Thanks for the inbox Bob. I've stuck an armadillo on him at 7/1
  • Might risk an Echidna myself.

  • Gary Rowett has just been confirmed as Stoke boss

Looks like Graham Potter (Ostersunds) is going to become Swansea Manager

Thank gawd for that - I've never been the best at keeping secrets!!

Rowett's tour of the Midlands continues!

Definitely his best chance of promotion, I imagine Stoke will be one of the favourites for promotion, so more pressure on him than his previous roles

Potter is more of a gamble, though good to see someone like him being given a chance at a decent level
  • Jack Ross current St Mirren manager is being heavily linked with the Sunderland job.

Their new owners said recently that they'll have the biggest League One budget by a mile, the biggest budget ever seen in this division... I wish our own takeover had been done a season earlier!

The new owners should've been a little more discreet with that announcement.
Obviously nice to give the fans a boost, & talk up plans after 2 bad seasons, but I think they've set themselves up for some overpaying situations there.

You suggest that if, and when we get taken over our new owners will be "splashing the cash" what happens if they are not keen to spend money and want to rely on youth and loans?

Thus setting themselves up for a massive egg on face situation if the don’t go up.

I don't see any other big clubs in the division next season.

Besides we have a big budget, and look where we finished in comparison to Shrewsbury! Or where Sunderland finished in related to Millwall last season...

Actually nope, that's not what I suggest at all. They have just changed ownership and will want to get back to the Championship within one year. We will soon have new owners too. I was personally hoping we could get promoted as soon as possible since the takeover will no doubt give us a huge boost. But now that Sunderland are in League One and seem to be very competitive with a huge bugdet, I wish we weren't in the same division with them.

Good point. Ultimately money is not the only factor whether a club will do well or not. Let's hope we'll have a successful season.

Yeah but 90% of it is going on Jack Rodwell's wages.

Scottish second tier to English third tier ... a massive step up for him and a bit of a risk for Sunderland?

the 41-year-old has agreed terms on a contract worth £350k per year, five times his current salary.
    Five times his current salary!
  • Good that Sunderland are trying a young up and coming manager, but a massive risk, going from a small club with little pressure to a large club, expected to get promoted immediately, and with a dysfunctional squad

...but thats exactly the scenario he found at St Midden. He saved them from relegation last year, then assembled a workmanlike squad to achieve promotion this year.

He was interim manager at Dumbarton for a few games and got our first win in the league and then acted as assistant and many attribute our great escape that year to his influence. Personally, I'm not too sure that he's all that, because we improved again after he left. It seems that many English clubs are looking for the new Fergie (remember that Katrien?) and he fits a similar profile with the crucial exception of winning a European trophy against Real Madrid.

He was a PFA rep so presumably has decent contacts. A lot will depend on SAFC's patience. He'll be a (relatively) cheap sacrifice if they have a bad start next year, but certainly has the potential to revive them.
  • Frank Lampard in the frame for the Derby job?
  • Frank Lampard in the frame for the Derby job?

    Would be interesting.
Just been announced as part of the BBC team for Russia,
Surely if he gets Derby job he would have to stop that
