If Nugent gives any indication in being interested in the job, the Belgians will wait to see what happens against Sheffield. We win and I reckon that the scouser will be trying to get an easy pay packet elsewhere.

Seems its all done and dusted, Elfs.
Nugent said on Saturday that he doesn't want the job.
And Richard Cawley hinting it's a done deal with Robinson, who was in the stands tonight.
Really is some utter tosh written on here about Robinson: "Can't stand the bloke"; "bellend"; "Billy big bollox"; "chippy"; "smarmy shite" etc etc etc etc etc etc!!!
I am amazed at how many people on here actually know him personally to enable them to make such well informed judgements! Farcical.
PS: if it's gonna be you welcome Mr Robinson. Oh, and this is Charlton Life!!!
For those of you questioning Robinson's motives it's quite an easy sale to be honest. You'll get to 3 year contract and if it goes to shit he will get that paid up. Nobody would expect him to succeed so he doesn't lose any face either.
Of the names mooted I would say he is probably my pick of the bunch so I am relatively positive about this but then again that won't surprise some.
If he can keep Nugent on as his number two then that's all the better.

In the modern British game there is a theatrical element to being a manager, in addition to signing players and coaching and improving a team (it sometimes feels like those are the order of priorities). I don't necessarily agree with that, but I also can't change it. As such, managers are judged on this public face, and sometimes Robinson's comes across as not particularly pleasant.
It's also worth noting that most of us with this sentiment have said things like "comes across as" or "seems." @moutuakilla's point is the really salient one for me too, does any of that matter if he's managing your team and doing it well?

As with Slade, a three-year contract does not mean they get paid the full term if they are fired. There will be all sorts of performance clauses that allow the club to terminate with minimal financial damage. The difficult part comes if he achieves that and they still fire him. Slade's contract, for example, could have contained something to the effect that if the side is not in the top half at a certain time he can be fired with, say, three months pay-off.
No idea what he's like so cannot pass judgment there, but it is another indication of how far we have fallen that this is the best we can attract. That said, let's see if he can do better than the previous managers under this regime. And anyone going to stake money he will still be in charge come May?

Well he finds himself out of work at the age of 36 and looking for another job.
Yes, it's a poisoned chalice, but realistically what better jobs will he get if he turns us down? Championship clubs won't want him, and the other "big" clubs in L1 aren't likely to have any vacancies soon.
We're 3 points from the playoffs, looking at the teams above us finishing 5th or 6th is a very realistic target, and anyone can then win the playoffs
Keep seeing people say 'can't stand him' but no one can say why. Odd.
He's an irritating scouse wanker with an overinflated ego who likes to blame everyone but himself for results. He also coaches a team doing worse than us in the league. Let Nugent have a shot and see how he gets on as caretaker... So far 7 scored and one conceded

Sorry baz, but if most people on here think Robinson comes across as smarmy then he does.
I doubt many of us know Donald Trump personally, but we all have an opinion.
I think he comes across as smarmy. However, as was also said, we may feel different if he's our manager.
I think Colin Wanker comes across as a total bell, but I'd love him as our manager.
Anyway, welcome Karl if you join us and the best of luck to you.
He seems to be the managerial equivalent of Paul Dickov or Robbie Savage.
You would hate them as a player but love them a YOUR player
Hopefully that's how things go for Robinson anyway
I actually think tonight is a real turning point for our club. A promising manager (hopefully) and a result that says to the rest of League 1 "Charlton aren't messing about anymore"
Regardless of Robinson's attributes, he has been sacked by a side way below us in the table. He might get us into play offs but how can the SMT dress up his appointment as being the man to take us forward rather than a desperation move?
Read by one of our fans twitter comments, apparently Robinson's 1st comment that the protests need to stop - how about you get on with managing the team - we get on with supporting it, I fear he's just going to be another puppet happy to collect his wage, it's a situation we're in, we all want the club to succeed but at the same time I want the cockroaches upstairs gone more, win the league they may of won some over but there's 0 chance of that happening see where we are end of December that will be a good marker.

Duchatelet's track record tells us that someone appointed this week would mean we'll have a third manager come the end of the season.
I don't know Robisnon well enough to comment but Ido know that Nugent is setting up the team how Slade should have done and has won two games on the bounce. I doubt it would be that hard to persuade him to want the job. It usually requires the realisation that you have a chance of getting it. My point is the situation on the pitch means there is no hurry.

It's time people feared us again

I don't know a single MKD fan that likes him. Granted I only know 3, but still

Do you employ Pitch PR for your statements? Some of the stuff you come out with is utterly bizarre and you complain that you're vilified on here. Turning point? I think you actually enjoy saying stuff, knowing it will get a reaction. Hoping that things improve and not particularly supporting the protests I can understand but your ridiculous comments supporting the regime and your seat on the T20k committee are straight out of North Korea, it's propaganda and you know it. Please spare me the line about how much your family has supported the club because pretty much everyone on here can say the same.

Wonder if Karl Robinson will last as long at Charlton as his brother Paul did as manager of Lassiters

I didn't think it could get worse, but it has.
You never know, even these complete morons might get it right at the 8th attempt.
How do you work that one out?
It's clear he doesn't understand what's going on at the club.
Wonder if he's been told to say protests should stop by the club? Weird thing to say when asked 'are you the next manager'
