Sacking Robinson will cost money. It won’t happen while club is for sale.
Don’t sack him then, just put him on gardening leave. Ask Euell or Jacko to step in with a bonus if promoted. If we are then promoted the increase in value of the club will outweigh the bonus paid.
It’s a plan I would support but who would put it into practice ? I doubt anyone at the club has the authority and I also doubt Roland even knows tonight’s score.
"The owner was very, very good in what he said to me,” he says. “Katrien has been phenomenal in everything I’ve asked. All the things I’d heard about [before I came], haven’t been the case. I think if you asked them both they’d say maybe they underestimated how things worked in England and that’s where things fell down a little bit.”

How did that work out then Karl?
If Robinson did not open his trap with this cobblers perhaps fans may have been more supportive.
He spouts this s*** after he called us a basket case of a club. Something he does not deny and admitted to me and many others at a recent fans meeting.
Everyone knows the real problem is Roland. Also changing manager's every six months is not the answer. But But But Robinson is beyond doubt absolutely clueless and appears incapable of finding a winning formation. Sack him now and let Euell Bowyer and Jackson take over until new owners arrive and bring in someone new
The only chance we have of promotion is a new manager who might shake things up. Could be JJ, could be Euell, it is a slim chance whatever, but we have absolutely no chance with Robinson - he is far too rigid tactically. We have trouble scoring goals yet he doesn't really try to address it - if he tried and failed I wouldn't criticise but he just keeps palying the same way.
I actually think Magennis is a terrific player at this level who could play in the Championship, but he has been given a role that doesn't suit his game and it has destroyed his confidence. He is too easy to isolate and even if he wins a header, there is nobody playing off him to capitalise. This has been evident for a long time, yet we do absolutely nothing to address the issue!
He should resign while he can still blame his complete failure as Charlton manager on this ‘basket case of a football club’. Take the Oxford job, or someone who appareciates mid table mediocrity and leave us alone.
Let Euell take over, a coach that can work with what he’s given, like for the U23’s and has more tactical nouse than the average 4 year old.
Can’t remember a manager I’ve disliked more since Pardew.

He is almost matching Pardew for me now - didn't think that was possible.

Is there any precedent to this in UK football. Would surely be constructive dismissal and he could sue for it if he chose to so hardly solves the problem if it was one of cost.

Perhaps we could start a petition requesting he stays at home....

Yup, he’s neck and neck with Pardew now. Although Roly will just keep Robinson in charge out of spite and not wanting to pay him off. At most other clubs he would be clearing his desk now.
Was the die not cast for this latest result before a ball was kicked?
We were advised the team for last tonight was apparently set before Saturday's uplifting performance, matched by a post match offer of "6 weeks off" if a player did not believe they could make the play offs. Does the offer still stand?
His words suggest this is not his first team. Mr Robinson it is your squad. In the way it is structured I am not sure we have the personnel for anyone to transform its fortunes this season. Just how would you empower anybody new at this stage?
A new permanent appointment is not feasible at this time. A temporary appointment will be in even greater limbo than Robinson with regard to authority in the clubhouse and in regard to players futures & contracts etc., The executive void already a gaping chasm would reach unprecedented proportions.
I offer no endorsement but have a measure of sympathy with the situation Robinson is in but then I did not pay money to travel to, and watch the games, at Peterborough and Blackpool.
Have we not seen just too many of our managers trying to work with other people's squads? We really want to give somebody else just a 6 week slot? At some point you have to stop spinning the revolving door. A large part of today's challenges are the melting pot of coaching changes made over the past 4 years. We spent this past close season clearing away most of the accrued debris.
My sympathy extends to the hostage of fortune status in which Robinson has chosen to enshrine himself. He has in large part been his own worst enemy. As evidenced above he rarely thinks before he speaks. He has consistently contradicted himself throughout his tenure. Sadly for someone who seemingly loves to talk he really is no wordsmith.
This is a League he should know well. I retain my respect of someone with such a level of industry experience and the qualifications allowing him to operate at this level.
What I have found disquieting through this season is why with such experience he would assert the preparation & construction of the squad this season, with his selected pattern of play, could sustain a promotion challenge in League 1.
His acclamation last week of the "streamlined" efficiency of the squad misses the point it appears single handedly responsible for the accrual of just 21pts from the last 20 matches. (35% target for any side seeking promotion).
I understand the financial "compromises" he, like all managers/ coaches, has had to make. The difficulty I have is, when mindful of the challenges, why you pursue a playing style which directly exacerbates those challenges.
I am not sure if Saturday & last night were "full on" standard Robinson templates but with no senior cover at either full back position, no definitive defensive midfielder or senior cover to protect the back four and with just one player to fill your central striker role why establish a default 4-2-3-1 platform in the first place?
Saturdays' comments on winning the midfield speaks to the problem. There is no end product. Whether the comments were aimed at Belgium, a Sheffield relocatee, the players or the fans I have the impression most everybody has now tuned out. I suspect no one is now listening. Perhaps the decision makers in the club never did.
He inherited Solly, Bauer, Pearce, the returning Sarr & Kashi, Magennis, the now departed Holmes while releasing Novak and Crofts and casting Ajose adrift.
In support he had Phillips, Konsa, Lennon, Aribo, Djiksteel, Ahearne-Grant etc., Of these only Konsa has progressed in our shirt. Aribo, seen as a young Viera and likened to Dele Ali, has only featured when injuries demanded while Djiksteel an emerging defensive midfielder has been designated an emergency right back.
He has added the permanent front line signings of Forster Caskey, Marshall, Clarke, Reeves. Over 3 transfer windows it is not a significant investment. In support he recruited Page and Fosu. The latter to date has been a promising addition. Overall, injury and fitness concerns have decimated their contribution
As a consequence the "engine room" seems to have been more focused on just keeping the engine running rather than the ultimate direction of the vessel. Such an outcome is worthy of an inquiry all of its own.
He added the "seasonal" signings of Amos, Dasilva. They have served us well.
The contributions of the temporary additions of Dodoo, Mavididi, Kaikai, Zyro, and Best have been peripheral. Why would you expect more? You do not secure promotions on the back of short term loans, such additions are meant to augment the core not paper over its cracks.
4-2-3-1 needs a strong central core but promotes an attacking momentum built around a mobile iterative process of players having the understanding, team relationships and freedom to work off each other in creating space in the attacking third and using the space to hurt the opposition - i.e. score goals
As structured, any loss of form or injury in any one of 4 or 5 outfield positions can derail your ability to deliver an end product. The system demands in depth resources. This squad has never had a "fail safe" contingency and as a consequence we end up working to the lowest common denominator with all the penetrative threat of a wet paper bag.
The supply line is so erratic it more resembles guerilla warfare than a concerted attack. Such an approach can still work but with our sniper in chief (Holmes) departed you have to have the defensive and game management qualities to fend off the opposition. We do not.
I have no wish to undermine the hardwork put into contributing to and collating the players marks evaluations on another thread but I suggest people might want to enjoy "a 6 week holiday" and come back in preseason. Currently it seems almost cruel to continue.
View the marks recorded over recent weeks. I recognise they are largely the views of committed amateurs, often beset by emotion, disappointment and frustration but can they all be so wrong?
Do they genuinely reflect a true assessment of the ability of the players the club has recruited? Do these "scores on the doors" really reflect the best each player can deliver? If not we have a simple issue to address.
It is the responsibility of the manager and coaching staff to enable the players to deliver individually and collectively their best performances in a strong and balanced pattern of play working to their strengths and minimising their weaknesses. I respect his ownership of the problems.
I have little doubt there has been much hard work and no little endeavour in progressing improvements from where the squad once was but struggle to see just how and when those "scores on the doors" will reflect such endeavours.
For me it required a major rethink during January. It needed a rethink before this weekend but a glance at the Saturday team sheet revealed 5 central defenders, 1 struggling full back, no true central defensive midfield player, an attacking midfield threat entrusted to 3 players yet to have a full first team season, all spearheaded by an ever willing battering ram. Just where did we expect the win to come from? The glue has become well and truly unstuck.
As of now there are still games to play and points to be won but without a major rethink, the die is indeed cast and the damage irreparable, which "motivational" ramblings about the next six weeks will do little to address.
Mr Robinson, I commend your words of assertive ownership of the challenge but words all too often are cheap. The need for change in approach, in structure, in balance, has stared most of us in the face for a very long time.
Sometimes you really do have to look beyond your reflection in the mirror.
He won't walk and he won't be sacked whilst the current owner is still here. No point carrying on about that sadly but whilst he talks a good game, he knows deep down that is not rated by now the majority of Charlton fans.
The Prostate Cancer quiz night 2 days after the Shrewsbury home defeat summed it up for me. Scott Minto thanked everyone for coming and then went on about what a fantastic job Robinson has done at the football club with what is going off the pitch and how it makes his role more difficult.
A round of applause? A few cheers of well done?
Nothing. Total silence for a few seconds until one fella shouted out "Love you Karl"
200 plus people in that room and no one applauded him. His heart must have sunk to realise that you are not rated by your own fans.

If he read the threads on here he'd know how popular he was - he can't be that deluded. The only thing he can do now is keep quiet.
Can someone please tell me, realistically, what manager would have done a better job in these circumstances with the budget he had along with dealing with RD and co
Yes, he's made mistakes but Jesus Christ we are 7th in the league 2 points of the play offs with 2 games in hand considering all the crap going on around him!
If it was CP, you'd all be signing his praises
Changed my mind.
Sack him
The owner wants to sell. He got no interest in the team. Why would he sack the manager ? Just another complication In the selling process, so as long as Duchatelet is still the owner, Robbo is the Manager. We are stuck in Limbo land.
There is some suggestion that Roland is stalling on a sale in the hope we may be promoted. If so he will surely realise now that won’t happen under KR. Any slim hope we have would be under a new manager, even a temporary one like Euell. Put KR on gardening leave and Euell a go. What does he have to lose?
That assumes he takes even a passing interest in our performances.
OXFORD United's new manager will not be in place before this weekend's home game with Peterborough United.
A preferred candidate has been selected, according to a statement released on the club's website by owner Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth - but the appointment is not imminent.
He said: "I spent time last week talking to an extremely strong shortlist and then met with our preferred final candidate over the weekend.
“He has indicated that he wants to come here and I think that provided we can sort out the finer points of the contract then he would have a real 'wow' factor for the fans and send very strong signals out that we mean business and are serious about moving this club into a higher division."

Think it was obvious it wouldnt be Karl when the statement said that they met with the Candidate over the Weekend.

Or it could be "wow, what a f****** s*** appointment"!
As a "boycotter", who has not seen a home game this season and only two away games, I have no view on the competence or otherwise of KR.
I do not understand the complete divergence of views on KR. On here, the universal views are that he is not competent with some views bordering on rabid comments. Yet on Saturday away at Peterborough, the normal managerial chant ("Robinsons Red and White Army") was extremely vocal.
Why does such divergance occur? Is this site getting toxic? Note; a genuine question (before a moderator on here tells me once again to f**k off) for daring to give an opinion.

I have no idea why anyone would chant his name in the same way I fail to understand how anyone can listen to Donald Trump. We human's are strange...
I can’t see it happening but I’m rather hoping now that KR either resigns or goes to Oxford. It would be priceless to see the reaction and incredulity of the football world as Charlton soldier on without a CEO, Chief Finance Officer and team manager. Laughing stock might niggle with RD.

He'll only go if another club came in for him.
That or pitch PR have got him on hold while they think of a way to make him look less of a twat
