Our bowlers, other than Stevens, looked innocuous and Durham, with Collingwood at the helm, advanced without too many problems and we only picked up 2 of the 3 available bowling bonus points within the 110 overs. Harsh to say it, given that I know he has been in Australia on compassionate leave, but Claydon looked particularly ineffective.
Once we got them out sod's law prevailed and there was cloud cover to accompany the new ball. The Durham bowlers, Mc Carthy especially, looked far more threatening than Kent's and made full use of the more favourable conditions. In the circumstances Northeast played very well with little support until Shah came in. They managed to steer us to a batting bonus point and we closed needing 87 to avoid the follow on with 2 wickets remaining.
I'll take the draw now because I don't think we'll get it.
is it 96 overs to be bowled today? 58 gone so far so another 38 overs to survive. Just as I type Gidman out so 193-6. think Rouse has got bat quite a while with Northeast to save this. The only consolation is that Worc have already lost

Potentially 106 overs I think but they may agree to shake hands earlier.
EDIT: Forget all that! Yes it is 96 overs! I temporarily forgot the 10 we faced last night in coming up with 106!
Kent 224-6 off 76.3 as I type so 29.3 to go worst scenario

We will do well to get anything out of this from here.
At the close Kent were 35 without loss.
