He was playing OK, then he got tackled. He carried on playing for another 10 minutes or so and then was substituted. he didn’t appear to be badly injured.
However he never appeared again for the rest of the season.
His injury record is appalling. Get shot of him.
He played his last game against Scunthorpe a few days later, lasted five mins before being injured and went straight off, from watching on iFollow it was clear that it wasnt something small
Was the fault of neither him or Bowyer but he was managed poorly last season... He was a risk ahead of the Scunthorpe game but we had no one else; Bowyer kept saying that he couldnt wait for the International Break as it would give Page a chance to rest and try to recover but of course the injury came along just before we could get to that stage
You'd hope that with Purrington here too now that Lewis can be properly managed back into the team without rushing him again - After all hamstrings can happen to any player so least its not an old injury thats returned (least I dont recall his old problems being down to them)3 -

Personally think Purrington is a better LB anyway, 27 games in 2 and a half years for us is horrific1

@ForeverAddickted hit the nail on the head.
Thankfully this is not a recurring injury for Page, the only issue is that it’s another muscular injury which has been a recurring theme.
The main positive here is that it’s pre-season and we don’t need to rush anyone. Page will get the right treatment he needs and only be brought back fully when ready and passed all tests. Another positive is that given the time, he should be back by the middle of August so doesn’t really miss anything much.
Hamstrings are a real pain and even with constant research and studies, they keep coming up in football. The only thing I can genuinely think is that players don’t have the correct ratio of strength between their hamstrings and their quadriceps. Hamstrings need to be stronger, but because they run so much, the game has got quicker, and we generate power on the ball through the quadriceps, it wouldn’t surprise me hugely if the average footballer doesn’t have the ratio between the two muscle groups that they need. Consequently, hamstrings are injured more often.
Everyone going on about his injuries and yes it’s not been great at all, but trust me, it’s frustrating him more than anyone else.
Talented player who I hope gets fit quickly and stays injury free. He will be an asset to us this season if so.7 -

I admire your faith in LP. I can't share it. A couple of injuries could be considered unfortunate. He was perhaps played too often when insufficiently recovered, while resources were badly stretched.
But for similar injuries to crop up so quickly in such innocuous circumstances begs questions as to the individual's conduct. It strongly suggests inadequate attention to one or more aspect: basic fitness training, warming up/down before/after sessions/matches, recovery and rest between sessions. He's a young man, been in football and youth football for 10 years, can not be unfamiliar with the discipline and demands of professional sport. Honest reflection would reveal the root of his issue, should he grasp that nettle...
I'll concede that my view may be coloured by his woeful early displays for Charlton. I then equated his performances to the worst I'd seen from any left-back getting paid to play, right down to conference south level. His blink and you'd missed it cameo last season, while pleasing, was so brief as to carry little weight.
I sincerely hope that we see extended periods of valuable contribution from him. Experience thus far casts serious doubt that could be possible.
For my money Toby Stephenson will be Charlton's 2nd string LB this season.0 -
The great Morts suffered from a succession of muscle injuries. I wonder if there could be a problem with hydration, which seems to be a player choice.0

Blimey, some harsh comments on here. He was forced to play whilst injured last season making the injury worse, it's hardly his fault. Good player I rate him and he's one of ours!8

Sadly wont be able to ever rely on Page, far too injury prone, in over 2 and a half seasons with us, his played 27 games0

Bowyer losing confidence in Page...10

Good player but rate Purrington more and unfortunately we can’t rely on him to play even 10 games in a season.
Not sure when his contract expires but best to get him off the wage bill ASAP in my opinion, even if it does sound harsh. Would be delighted if he proved me wrong and came back able to compete with Purrington for the left back slot though.4 -
I feel really sorry for him tbh.11

As Bow has said, something is not right here. Makes me wonder whether there is something far greater that is the problem. Some kind of underlining issue.
As put on the other thread, I heard he was due back this week, but later this week. Obviously he has trained and now has another issue.
He won’t be here next season, even if he gets fit and plays. Bowyer won’t take the risk again.
Really feel sorry for him, I do. But something can’t be right. He needs to go and see a proper specialist and possibly a psychologist because you don’t know how much these injuries are impacting him psychologically. I’m not saying the injuries are in his head, not at all. But the impact it has, it could be holding him back.
I hope he gets sorted soon because it’s now almost a whole year since he last played competitively for us and that’s just not acceptable for the initial injury he had.7 -
Reminiscent of Kelly Youga.
Had a bad injury apparently recovered fully physically yet, for whatever reason, never played again.1 -

Amazingly he played 26 games for Coventry in the first half of 2016/17. Since then in 2 1/2 seasons he's played 27 games.0

Read some of the comments here and it's understandable why professional footballers will "chase the money" and move clubs to set themselves up financially.

cant imagine he is on a huge wage, he is under contract and we also ( the club ) have to honour there side of things, the fans say him fuck him get rid are also the type of fans that expect taylor to play his socks off every time he dons the famous red and white, until he is sold/end of season0

We have a small squad and a smaller budget.
When Page was given another years contract I'm sure that Bowyer will have been told by the medical team that he was over his injuries.
Bowyer's comments last night sound like he is more annoyed with the physio than Page.
Just tell me when he can train and not that there's another problem.
Very frustrating all round.3 -
