Some incredible hitting in the county t20 today - Derek Hales scored 101 off 47 and joe Clarke hit an amazing 124 no off 54 for Worcs - future England player there.

Clarkes strike rate was 233 which i find quite astonishing - ok over a quick 50 yes, but for 124 no - uh !
As a Worcs fan I can't take too much pleasure in it because
a) our T20 bowling attack is such a pile of shit that we're already out of the running despite our batting being pretty good
b) he'll go to another county because county loyalty is over, baby
Another astonishing element of that game was that Durham scored 202-2 , so therefore an average of 10 an over, whereas Damien D'Oliveira went for 16 off his 4 - so the other bowlers went for an average of circa 12 in comparison.

Great figures.
Especially good when you consider he died 3 years ago.
Yorkshire and Notts casually smashing nearly 500 runs between them, because bowling is an inconvenient sideshow and they're Big Counties so they have to score Big Runs *pukes*

England haven't been involved in many close Tests in ages. I guess the combination of high-octane batting style and right-arm seam either comes off grandly or completely falls flat
i think that teams have forgotten how to grind out a draw ..Sky did some analysis that teams who fall behind the 8 ball in games recently normally collapse - and that has been proved in this series.
Both hick and ramprakash were two brilliant batsmen utterly ruined by the bizarre selection policy in the 90's. I think they both were constantly moved up and down the order and never left to settle to nail down a position. Thus the number of tests they played and their averages don't tell even half the story.
England were handed a gift by Philander (the best S.A. bowler to suit the conditions) has barely bowled and Morris has been as bad in this match as he was good in the last. That allowed us to get a score in the first innings which in my view was wayy above par. From then on we were in the driving seat.
TRJ and Anderson both getting the beat from the pitch and conditions was a bonus.
What I will say is why on earth have Surrey boy been given pitches like this at the oval this season. This pitch has been great, plenty thwre for the bowlers but batsmen are rewarded for hard work and sticking at it. There was something there for the spinners as well today.
Yet all season Surrey have been forced to platoon absolute roads. We have (or had before Footit and Ansari left) a brilliant bowling attack yet they have had zero assistance from the pitch and we have struggled to take 20 wickets.
Clearly the groundsmans is capable of producing decent wickets as he's done it for England. So is this a plan by Surrey? Are we hoping to win the toss and let scoreboard pressure win us the game? What is going on. Absolute shambles. At least give us a chance of taking 20 wickets. If we get beaten because a team plays better then so be it. But if we had have had pitches like this all season we would have more than just the single win.

Having said that Chris Tremlett has an ODI hat trick so clearly being a good bowler has nothing to do with it.

DamienBrett. He also used to watch WBA as a young man but mostly just supports Spurs these days, which I'm ok with
We've been great in 2 Tests but hopeless at Trent Bridge.
Any particular reason for that?
Do our players rely on the confidence of maybe getting on the front foot rather than having to bat under pressure
Same for South Africa...
