The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Off subject but I think we need to lighten the mood for a minute... I went to the Fulham v Oldham game yesterday, a close mate is a Fulham fan and he will come to Charlton when there’s a spare ticket.... anyway... the Oldham fans sung the following chant and it really made me laugh...
“Give me a T, give me an I, give me a T, give me an S, what do you do with em... Oldham, Oldham, Oldham!”41 -

If that happens then i think i'll be done with this clubSolidgone said:My immediate concern is whether RD is about to sell Taylor to the spanners to help towards the mounting running costs.

Assuming a meeting is taking place at all, you’d have to imagine it’s happening now or just about to.0

Would certainly be a new low. I think Bowyer might well walk if that happened.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Not easily, while respecting confidences, but timing is part of it. The broker / De Turck line is last week’s news. As people have noted, JW has backtracked a bit on Friday’s public position. It’s not a coincidence.church-lane said:
So Airman - Given what you said in your last post, can you tell us how your source is so knowledgable, when the information that it's imminent comes from the fella handling the sale for Roland and the fella brokering the deal itself?Airman Brown said:
My contact is very sceptical about the parties’ ability to conclude a deal and believes the next thing that will happen is that the American funding will stall.cafcfan1990 said:
Airman I don’t mean to be rude but that’s conflicting unless I’m being stupid? You have said the contact said the Americans are going to back off and then say the source says it’s about to be done?Airman Brown said:
This is what I posted earlier, if that helps. A few calls were made yesterday by other people and this is what came back. It’s a prediction and it comes from someone who has been involved, but it is not a definitive statement of fact or a claim that it has already happened.Airman Brown said:
American money, based on holding the assets. Australian control, based on owning the football club. However, the same source says the Americans will now back off.carly burn said:Australian consortium according to JW.
Doesn't that contradict what Airman said the other day?
This isn’t via JW, by the way.
I don’t know anything about Jim White’s meeting but there are two primary sources of the report it’s about to be done. One is the broker, who is talking to JW, and the other is Lieven De Turck.
Both the broker and De Turck, separately, have given the impression that it is imminent.
I'm assuming your source is close to whichever consortium is/isn't buying the club, can you elaborate?0 -

So is it fair to say that this supposed meeting today is/was basically make or break for any potential takeover deal featuring the Aussies?Airman Brown said:

Hmmmmm... American money+ Aussies =
Rupert Murdoch will be our new owner.
He will rename the stadium “Daily Mail Valley.” It all makes sense now.0 -
Hopefully after today that’s the last we’ll hear of Australians without any money.
God only knows what they had planned for our club but if they cannot finance the start of their plans perhaps it’s good to end any interest now.5 -
When I was just a little boy
I asked my father who would it
Will it Aussies, will it be Yanks
Here's what he said to me.
Qué Sera Sera
Whatever will be
The future's not ours to see

After ordering a donor kebabs (salad, then lemon juice followed by adding the chillie sauce and don’t forget the long thing chillies all wrapped up to go) I thought to myself is this a wrap or has the deal been sorted? Funny question you might ask... but is it?
I handed over my £4.50 (in cash) but still continued to question this transaction. Surely someone like me with my limited intellect is able to get it sorted and purchase a kebabs without difficulty then why are peeps saying they want to buy a football club can’t do the same. I do wonder sometimes on whether the amount of money it costs to send yous to university is a complete waste of money!0
