Maybe time to reconsider restricted sales in home areas.

Stand to be corrected but really don't see many West Brom invading home areas and little trouble if they did.

Its such a quick and easy thing to do but it kick-starts a connection between the people running the club and the fans that support it. He's definitely got a likeable way about him.

Personally, I think this is quite an important moment, and whether the new owners replace Keohane or retain him sends a big signal.
Regardless of his competency or lack of it, he’s a symbol of the distrust we had for the Duchatelet regime and he’s representative of the attitude that held the fans in such contempt.
If ESI truly want to build bridges with the fan base, offloading this revolting stormtrooper would be a decent step in the right direction.
Whilst I agree it'd be a great way to appease some fans, has he actually done anything to deserve being fired? You can't just terminate someone's employment because some people don't like em.
There were rumours on here that he was also a workplace bully, which - if true - would certainly have been cause for his employers to caution him about his future behaviour, and to keep a close eye on the situation.

Of course, none of us outside of those who were actually directly involved knows the full circumstances, but there certainly has been a lot of smoke indicating the same source of fire.

Oh please don't get me wrong, I would love to see the back of him, the fact he tried what he did with TCE/GH/NLA & Co makes the bloke vermin in my eyes, I just understand why it might take a little time to get rid.

Agreed. I’d be very surprised given what I’ve heard and how he acts generally whether there weren’t grounds for a dismissal.

Unfortunately they probably won’t ha e been appropriately documented to date and there will need to be new issues to write down before a very expensive pay off can be avoided:

Given how he has operated over his illustrious tenure with us though, would imagine a couple of issues a month could be brought to a sympathetic ear.

would be good to get him gone.

I would imagine the new owners will want to see how he works rather than make a decision which could give them a lot of legal grief because us fans don't like him. I suspect they will want to see what Bowyer can do too before offering him a long term contract, despite the fans liking him! It would be par for the course for a new ownership to review everything they have inherited.

A little surprised we haven't had a press conference or interview with Matt released Or even a statement outlining intentions.
It was suggested to me on Sunday that there might be a press conference once Bowyer has signed a deal as otherwise that might dominate the questions.

High praise from one of the best owners in the entire footballing pyramid.
Wouldn't expect much else if they are friends though.

Yeah of course, but from the way Darragh MacAnthony conducts himself in the industry, him and Southall being friends speaks volumes for me.

if he lives in Peterborough and matt Southall in London, given how busy Southall in particular must be this week, that does seem to hint at a bit of transfer action???
  • Wonder if the phone call was initially about Ivan Toney though - Seems the meet up has come from a conversation rather than two friends catchint up

ESI has filed more papers dealing with share allotments available to view in a few days time.  Could be ESI has acquired all the assets of the club rather than buying the company.  Would eliminate any potential residual legal liabilities for skeletons found in the cupboard re past transactions and mean a new clean start.

The Posh owner says the meeting isn't transfer related though.

That isn't to say that we're not doing business with Posh, just that that isn't the reason for this meeting.  And we could be after Madison or Eisa, not Toney or loaning a youth player?

My guess is that Southall is new to running a football club and is meeting up with a mate who has been doing just that for years to pick his brains.
No I meant the initial phone call e.g.

    Matt: Can we sign Toney
Posh: Sorry no, but we aint met for a while, want to go on a piss up

The way Posh makes it sound is that the meeting they'll be having will be just as a catch up rather than talking transfers

I agree with the earlier comments about hungry players and the Curbs model.  I know football has changed dramatically since Curbs built the team to get us out of the Championship in the late 90s, and the sorts of money footballers get these days are crazy, but there must be a way to build a competitive team without going into silly territory when it comes to the balance sheet.  I mentioned the Sheff Utd and Burnley models on here before, and I think Wilder and Dyche may share some of the same values that Bowyer does as a manager.  Both Dyche and Wilder seem to get players and teams that are working toward the goal of unified success as a team, as opposed to a group of talented individuals each doing their thing inconsistently.

Fosu was a great example.  Bowyer pretty much froze him out last season, despite the run in we had and the fact he opted for the likes of Josh Parker ahead of him.  I genuinely believe that there are loads of decent gems out there that may take the step up from the lower leagues, like Lockyer & Taylor have, and you only need to combine that with a few bigger players to get success.

We probably don't want  to do what Fulham did a few years ago or what Villa did last year and spend millions, because a) I don't think it fits with what our club is all about, and b) it's so risky.

I think a lot owners in football now are past the invest loads of money in the hope it gets them to the Championship, because the last few years are littered with failures, Chansiri at Sheff Wed, Notts Forest etc.

I truly believe there is a more conservative way to get success

Surely time now to get rid of the "Roland Out!" button?
How about, ‘Roland’s left the building?’

Powell built a promotion team based on personalities as well as ability, he built a team forming a real togetherness.  Bowyer's ethic seems the same.

That’s direct from companies house. You can set up alerts so that when anything changes, you get an email. I’ve got alerts on this, Baton and CAFC
