  • In the pub, my niece said that this time round, the youth vote is real. " it's become cool to vote" she said. At 21.55....

I'm hoping this puts an end to the suggestion of a take over by the hard left, maybe they have finally given a mandate that the whole Labour party can accept and build upon together. If the have energised the youth vote, they have defied the establishment again. Early days yet saying that.
Those young people didn't ever have to travel on a nationalised railway run by British Rail or suffer when the country was in the grip of the Trade Unions with constant strikes. Labour Governments have always overspent and left the economy in a worse state than they found it.
Fuck me you sound like the Daily Mail. Stuck in the 1970s.

Privatising the railways has really been a great success....
I remember the mess the country was in under Labour in the 70s. Young people voting today have no idea what that was like.
Change the record - the world has changed since the 1970s. You'll be going on about Winston Churchill next.

Should I start reminding you of all the disasters the Tories have presided over?

Tbh we're probably f***ed whoever is in charge. Our economy is knackered!
Jeremy Corbyn's policy of tax and spend would take us back to the 70s.
    You love the 1970s.
  • If Scotland end up giving the Tories the seats they need, the total idiots... cutting off nose to spite face.

Labour apparently 200 ahead in Canterbury on first count. Re-count likely.

    That's....that's unassailable
Depends on wot woz writ. A 'clear' vote?...or something other than this?
    Group concensus decides...
However, I tend to agree....200 'ahead' suggests that the 'ahead' party will win. However...
  • Scotland saving the Tories.

    Ruth Davidson for next leader?

She was one of the best and most passionate campaigners for Remain.

I remember how bad the 70s were under the type of Labour policy proposed by Corbyn.
  • As a Tory remainer I don't know what I want now!

May has fucked up so I want her out
Corbyn means Farage is back so it scares me
I always say a party that close to a majority should be able to get the chance to govern

Get a Tory remainer in for a soft Brexit?
  • 322 enough to save Theresa's ass if DUP save the day.

Let's limit the vote to only people who lived through the 70s then...

This is the young people's country too now. We shall live and die by our decisions.

Party politics aside, I wont lose too much sleep over that particular one.

Tories would get in with Northern Irish support which would outweigh the others.

May was supposed to be the Tory remainer that could unite the party. I think it'll be Boris next.

They are not policies from the 1970's.

    May was a remainer.

  • Looks like the leader of the Charitable Order of Antelope has gone home
  • Thanks to the drifting away of SNP vote in constituencies where the Conservatives were in second place, the Tories are picking up seats.

We might end up with a Tory Government, thanks to the Scots!

May is toast. Nothing will save her - save the Tories maybe.

Honestly Corbyn would be wise to stay out of this. Tories would be in a mess internally and he has a head of steam. Wait 12 months and he could get a majority.

Go now and he risks ruining it for himself as he couldn't get any of the policies through that people voted for.
  • So I've been crunching the numbers over here. Something I mentioned earlier about turnout, and right now the BBC has it at bang on 67%. Now, I don't know how accurate that is, but it would be just under a point up from 2015, and thus the highest since Blair swept into office in 1997.

Couple things I'll be curious to see in the coming days: 1) what turnout was like in Scotland, and 2) is this a case where Tories stayed home as much as Labour turned up.

Labour have and will pick up some of these Scottish seats.

Knew I picked a bottle of The Famous Grouse for a reason... (besides being the cheapest in the local Tesco Express)

Sadly, I'd expect Labour to do better out of the SNP disintegrating to be fair; if the Conservatives do manage quite well north of the border, then I fully expect Ruth to lead the entire party now. She'll have done a cracking job.
