David Simpson DUP MPs Orange Lodge demands that their right to march through a Catholic area is high on Theresa Mays list

Not a road you want to be going down.

I thought this was a really good article suggesting how some of the youth vote was won, especially for those who think it was all down to a simple bribe. Times are changing, it is no longer just about the number of boots on the ground but online as well.

Not a road you want to be going down.

I'd guess that a reformation of the Parades Commission would be high on the DUP wish list - if it is, I fully expect the talks on restoring the Assembly will fail, and a Direct Rule Minister will have the delight of this year's marching season (now brought to you with added triumphalism).

Start praying for a very wet and cold summer.
  • Now that the youth see the effect they have had it will grow further. The conservative party has got a very narrow type of young person it can appeal to - it isn't a vote they want to see increase.

Or they'll be forced to adapt their policies to appeal to younger voters. As what should happen in a first past the post system. And what's happened before

Yes, of course. But that won't be an easy journey for them I think.
  • NI politics is like Pandora's box. I'd much rather pretend it didn't exist

I definitely don't want it as part of mainstream UK politics - they can get all excited over nonsense like marching and things like that but I really hope it doesn't become something that becomes an issue (either way) for most of us.
  • nearly sold out our
Corbyn Hope T-shirts - he is the gift that keeps on giving - just one L left :)
  • Gerry Adams is on BBC News, TV is on mute but it looks like he's had his teeth whitened. Don't really want to be seeing too much of him...
  • May has delayed the Queen's Speech which was due on 19th June.

    Interesting...
  • How is she expecting to go on for 5 years - It is laughable!
  • Read that there's around 30 Tory seats that now have a majority of ~2000 or less.

May has delayed the Queen's Speech which was due on 19th June.

The BBC say they've been told that this is the reason:

    Queen's Speech delayed by... goat-skin?
    Posted at 13:38

We understand one of the reasons given for the Queen's Speech being delayed is that it has to be written on goat-skin - and that takes a week to process, because it has to be hung up to dry.

The new Queen's Speech will have to be agreed with the DUP - hence the delay. The goatskin complication was explained by Nick Robinson here, writing back in 2013.

There wasn't a home counties actor doing a voice over was there?

How this idiot can contemplate a deal with the DUP which would impinge on the UK Government's responsibilities under the Good Friday Agreement is beyond me.

This is strike 3 for the Conservative & Unionist Party in seeking to look after their own self interests with no regard for the people of the UK.

A referendum promised by Cameron to stave off the his own right wing & the UKIP threat.

A general election called by May for no reason other than to wipe out the opposition when she believed she could do no wrong.

And now a grubby deal she has no right to be trying to cobble together, which puts at risk the hard won peace, which remains fragile, in Northern Ireland.

    Shambolic and bloody dangerous.

    Spot on @TelMc32 .

Anybody want to buy a massive pile of May - strong and stable ones? :(
Fortunately that was a joke and we didn't print any of them :) Phew !!!
  • David Davies just pretty much admitted that they failed so badly because the campaign/manifesto was so rubbish.

So they basically took the piss and guess what? It didn't appeal to the old and it most definitely didn't appeal to the young.

I would suggest that those that actually voted for them would still vote Tory even if the likes of Phillip Hammond or Boris Johnson came round and actually Shat through their letterbox!

If that's true then it's very worrying for Labour, isn't it ?

    Most definitely.

Are we sure that shouldn't have been "hung out to dry"??

Any truth in the rumour that even Billy-goats wouldn't be seen dead wearing this speech??

Is Billy an oblique reference to King Billy and therefore the DUP (protestants) or am I letting my imagination run away from me?

I didn't think I was being that subtle @Cordoban Addick but, yes, it was trying to make light of something that is very serious, especially for my family in Belfast.
