Don't follow cricket but there was a sports report at the start of the news just now and there was an Irish bloke talking and the caption said he was the England captain!
Captain Morgan. Think Ireland and Jackie Charlton.

Bairstow can open. It's not as if he's not opening in Jamaica against Holding, Roberts, Garner and Marshall!
And he's a better fielder than Roy too.
He can open but I was working on the assumption that England want to keep the same approach. Go hard for the first ten, accumulate in the middle and have your finishers like Stokes and Buttler to go big months last 20. In that situation Bairstow is most suited to coming in later.
As for the fielding I agree Bairstow is better but it is only marginal. Bairstow is exceptional but Roy is considered one of England's 'Gun' fielders.
Bairstow for Roy straight swap makes sense. Roy on form can take the game away and so could Bairstow. And also Hales and Root are in form so Bairstow can pick his shots
Obviously I can see why people say Roy should play as there's no pressure (although it's against Australia which changes things a little) but surely thats more reason to play either Mooen or Bairstow with Hales to give it a trial without needing a result
Roy's average in his last 10 ODIs - 12.9 Bairstow's average in his last 10 ODIs - 44.4 Bairstow's average in limited overs matches this season - 67.9
We shouldn't be relying on winning games in spite of the form of players but because of the form of players.
You're not a Roy fan are you AA ??!!
I agree though, there will come a time when it will come unstuck.
With regard to the semis, I believe there should be an advantage given to the team that tops the group - say, like in County Cricket they are given the Toss win automatically.
But I'm sure you must have noticed that I proposed Bairstow and not Billings as his replacement despite my allegiance to Kent. Bairstow is better equipped at this stage in my opinion to open and has more runs in the bank so deserves his chance.
Roy always has had technical issues which is, as I keep saying, why he doesn't open for Surrey in the longer form of the game. When the ball isn't doing anything and when he can just "see ball, hit ball" he's great.
Having said all of this, I actually think that they will stick with Roy for the next game and tell him that there's no pressure because we're through. If he gets a score he will keep his place but, if not, they will then drop him.
When we have someone so good as Bairstow out of the team, I don't understand this loyalty to Roy.
There was no "loyalty" shown to Rashid when they left him out against Bangladesh, or to Willey who had been a regular
I completely agree but IMO, its purely because he is a opener. They want a settled opening partnership and have thought that would be Hales and Roy for years to come.
I still think it will be Roy and Hales for years to come but for the now when someone is that out of form it's best to take that person out of the limelight and give them a chance to find form elsewhere. For our chances in this tournament we need to change it.
Agree completely, in the past you can stick with him but when you have a match winner waiting in the wings it's a no brainer
Amazing that England have managed to complete both matches
We control our own weather.
It does seem that the weather is on our side this time round. Every game that is rain affected seems to help us and ours remain unaffected. Long may it last!
India 321 off 50 overs. Not as many as I thought they would get but still a stiff target, especially as the longest boundary is into the wind. That was how SL managed to restrict India somewhat as both Dhoni & Dhawan were caught going for a biggun on that side as SL were bowling very wide of the off stump.

Lets hope that if they do play us that the UK bookies can get in quick !
