26/11/2017 About 300 members of FC Carl Zeiss Jena followed the reports of the Supervisory Board and the Presidium and relieved the members of the association / GmbH presents figures
The annual general meeting of FC Carl Zeiss Jena eV lasted about four hours. After a one-year break this time it took place at the traditional place in the Zeiss Mensa on the Tatzendpromenade.
307 voters of the currently 3,960 club members accepted the invitation of the club. After the welcome by club president Klaus Berka, Andreas Wiese, as in previous years, took over the management of the meeting. According to the reports of Klaus Berka and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Willi Obitz, both the Presidium and the Supervisory Board were relieved of their honorary work of last year by a clear majority of the votes of the members present.
Club President Klaus Berka, from whose hands FCC coach Mark Zimmermann received the award with the Golden Badge of Honor from the FCC, was able to announce a positive result for the association. Instead of the EUR 80,000 loss of the previous year, the last financial year shows an increase of EUR 60,000. In particular, the work done by the FCC football school with its diverse offerings was honored.
Chris Förster, Managing Director of FC Carl Zeiss Jena Fußball Spielbetriebs GmbH, used the general meeting to introduce the club members to the numbers of the GmbH. After a loss of EUR 933,000 in the previous year, FC Carl Zeiss Jena Fußball Spielbetriebs GmbH closed the past financial year of the 2016/17 season with a plus of EUR 538,000.
Sales of EUR 3.3 million were EUR 200,000 lower than planned, but also EUR 200,000 above the previous year's result.
The personnel expenses of the GmbH - these include both employee and employee salaries - were EUR 350,000 higher than planned at EUR 2.3 million. This is an increase of EUR 300,000 compared to the previous year. One of the main reasons for this growth was the sporting success of the previous season and the associated premium development.
Other operating expenses were also above budget at EUR 2.2 million. The reasons for the additional expenditure of about 600,000 EUR are above all in the additional costs incurred for the game operation (expenses for floodlights or additional stands in the DFB Cup and promotion game).
The fact that at the end a profit for the year still remains, is due to the loan waiver of the shareholder Roland Duchatelet (Staprix) in the amount of EUR 2 million. The loan waiver is equipped with a debtor warrant, which means that the limited liability company is only obliged to repay it if sustainable profits are generated and a balance sheet profit of EUR 2.0 million is reported. Only then would one third of other possible annual surpluses be used for repayment. Around EUR 800,000 in loan commitments are available for the GmbH.
Since the loan balance at the shareholder Roland Duchatelet after its loan waiver at 1.2 million EUR, and the liquidity of the GmbH is currently 600,000 EUR, the GmbH is currently over-indebted with 600,000 EUR. As of June 30, 2017, the equity of the GmbH amounted to EUR 68,000.
In addition to the relief given by the Presidium (with only one dissenting vote) and the Supervisory Board (with only two votes against), the selection of the Election Committee was certainly the most exciting agenda item for most of the members. After a short presentation of the seven candidates for the five-member committee of the electoral committee, a vote was taken on the individual candidates in a secret ballot. Accordingly, the electoral committee, which among other things is responsible for the candidacy of the Supervisory Board, is made up of Olaf Albrecht, Jörg Dern, Mike Ukena, Frank Jauch and Thomas Petzold. The longtime election committee member Christa Jatho resigned from the committee. She had not run again. Also no longer represented in the election committee is Rainer Zipfel.
Peter Voß was re-elected unanimously as chairman of the disciplinary committee.
The members present were also in favor of the Bureau's request for a moderate increase in membership fees, which in the end resulted in a clear majority of the plenary. Accordingly, the monthly fee for passive club members is increased from EUR 6.50 to EUR 8, for pupils, retirees and students from EUR 3 to EUR 4, and for children up to 14 years from EUR 1.50 to EUR 2.
Although FCC stood their ground against the league's current form team, as they recently did against table-toppers Paderborn, they could not get the vital goal. The gate at 4478 looks quite impressive, but getting on for a thousand were away fans.
Sensational match vs a powerful and in-form opponent
35' Wehen take the lead - they have had the better of the first half so far 43' Timmy Thiele equalises 45+1' FCC lose Dennis Slamar to a second yellow 51' Thiele puts the ten men ahead and in 55' completes his hat-trick !! 3-1 !!
65' Thiele's fourth - Toooooooooooooooooorr!!!
74' Auswechslung: Timmy Thiele verlässt unter stehenden Ovationen das Spielfeld !! No-one in the whole stadium still sitting - for the whole second half the crowd has been the missing 11th man ....
82' Wehen pull a goal back - 4-2!!
86' Wehen have mounted a total siege of FCC's goal, but Jena stand firm!!
90' Score-line holds - 3480 lucky spectators!!
90' Wehen score - 4-3!!
90+3' After unbelievable pressure the ref finally blows for full time. Phew!! (Not as good as 7-6 though!!)
A wet, miserable day saw FCC create the lion's share of the chances but remain scoreless, allowing Köln to snaffle the points with a 61' decider. FCC had no fewer than three defenders absent through suspension.
FCC put in a good performance but not for the first time recently came away empty-handed. They sink to 15th, 8 points clear of Chemnitz in 18th. Chemnitz scored on 80', just after Cros had drawn his 2nd yellow card thereby leaving 10 men trying to save a game they had dominated. Alas, it was not to be.
FCC's next match is at home to Sportfreunde Lotte on 10 Feb.
Att: 3732 (including a hand-counted 21 die-hards from Lotte)
For FCC Julian Günther-Schmidt 7' Timmy Thiele 45' pen
Frustration for FCC. An early goal then a lapse to 1-2, with a welcome equaliser just before half time. A brave and inspirational performance by the Lotte goalie.
On a snow-covered pitch FCC's away jinx continued. Again they dominated the game, played throughout in a sleet storm, but scorned many chances, none better than Thiele's missed penalty on 65'. Ten corners also went begging against opponents reduced to 10 men on 46' after a reckless challenge was red carded.
Out of a crowd of around 2500, about 250 hardy Jenaers had travelled the 400km from Paradise.
Next match 25 Feb - the Thuringia derby and easily the biggest game of the season, at home to RW Erfurt.
Bitter rivals. The match was already half sold-out before the tickets went on general sale, and then the remaining tickets went in a day. I will keep an eye on the OS - Andreas is bound to put up some good stuff this week. Our visit was three years ago ....

Of course there is the added intrigue from what we learnt from our visit - that RD had originally wanted to buy into R-WE but was not able to. Not to mention that at the time R-WE were the big club in Thuringia, in Bundesliga 2 if I recall.
The lesson of course for RD is that if he sticks to his knitting and leaves football professionals to run the football, success is actually possible.
For FCC, having clawed their way out of the fourth tier it will be a shame if the long-awaited renewal of league battles with their (mutually) detested rivals will last only for this season. FCC currently lie 15th with 29 points, but Rot-Weiß Erfurt are rock bottom 20th with 18 points, 8 adrift of 17th and safety. (They do still have to play today.)
RD has certainly left his mark on the Beautiful Game, with plenty of raised expectations to go along with all the disappointments. How will FCC fare if Roland disposes of all his football interests? Akin to STVV, if he retains only a commercial interest in the rebuilt Jena stadium he is sure to exact a heavy price.
RD could have achieved so much in football but sadly for all concerned his ways are not the game's ways. Oh what might have been ....
I'm curious as to whether there are any Charlton fans other than GHF & PA, who have the sightest interest in CZJ, now that Roland has nearly gone. No offence intended guys.
No, CE, it's a fair question. The thread gets around 30-40 views per week. Regardless of RD (who he??) I plan to carry on to the end of the season, if only out of "journalistic" integrity, you know, to tell the whole story. I find it interesting anyway to follow the weekly shenanigans and it helps to become familiar with the players and the league, not to mention the crazy fans. Nutters!!
And also I do it to repay the enormous compliment we receive from German Addicks and their amazing support for CAFC. They're not FCC fans, of course, or even close, but what's not to like about German football and its very special culture.
Lastly, FCC were fine hosts for Prague and me three years ago, and I really hope they thrive in the post-RD era. It will be good to follow their progress and the development of the new stadium. I'm pretty sure that they have good links with other British clubs, and Charlton have never really registered on their radar - that, btw, is just one of the very many opportunities the Network missed. Out of interest, is it known if any Addick has actually visited all the other five Network clubs?
When FCC is history I was thinking that eventually I might start a hard-core tram 'n' other local transport thread ....
It's easy to explain why I remain interested in FCC - and Standard. Going there and making personal contacts with people from that club/fanbase hooked me. I learnt about the proud history of the two clubs, their stadia, and the respective communities of which they are such an important part.
I guess that's the same for @CharltonMadrid and Alcorcon. I never really got into them because the whole thing seemed like a mystery, why RD bought it and what he wanted to do with it.
Despite also visiting STVV, that didn't take root with me, because it seemed that most of the fans there were buying into, more or less, the ghastly RD vision.
I kind of follow Ujpest, but not to the same extent as FCC or Standard. Haven't been down there. Hungarian football stinks anyway, with several clubs playing in swanky stadia -but no fans - built by politicians with money that should have been used for hospitals. Because Ujpest are privately owned by a foreigner, there is a narrative that they are "clean" by comparison. Yet the Ujpest fans themselves - what's left of them - continue to be militantly against RD.
These are the little emotional hooks that get people involved with a club. We have heard similar stories from Addicks who adopted us in adult life, such as Paul Breen. And that can happen to foreigners too, isn't that right, Mr Bjorn Borg? :-)
Many thanks to all - any interest in the thread is much appreciated.
I should mention that I have only a limited knowledge of the German language but hopefully there are not too many mis-translations, thanks of course to the delightful Google Translate.
With the excitement mounting ahead of Sunday's derby the club have announced that the match is sold out but also that tickets are still available! Capacity has been limited to 9650 instead of the usual 13000 (for special matches 19000 with temporary stands). Perhaps stadium (re)building work has already begun, or maybe the restriction is at police/authorities' insistence. Fans still interested in going are encouraged to enquire - there are restricted view tickets, returns, not-collecteds, etc.
Btw, for an imposing view of the stadium while it still retained its magnificent 'lights, see the photo on (English) Wikipedia for Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld, taken from the hillside overlooking the ground. Valleys!
The big derby!! A game of little incident so far, watched by a sell-out crowd of 9650 (820 of which from Erfurt). It took FCC until 32' to register their first real chance and they are clearly missing their leading scorer and flu victim Timmy Thiele.
After two bold substitutions on 53' - two attacking midfielders replacing defensive - and the final sub on 64' FCC gradually gained the upper hand, becoming stronger as the half wore on. Finally, the sweetest outcome to a hard-fought derby - a 90+1' winner, scored by Florian Dietz!!
Next match - away to SV Meppen Sat 3 March
Possibly some crowd action. The match's live text said that at around 65' fans from both clubs started climbing over the fences, bringing a swift police response. To be confirmed.

2 - the next match is now on 6 March, at home to Würzburg Kickers. This is a very important game since it involves the opening of the new floodlights, five years since the previous lights were removed on safety grounds. For the club to be allowed promotion to 3.Liga a proper floodlight system was mandatory. A special commemorative shirt will be worn by the team for a number of matches. The shirts are available for fans to buy at €65,00+
