2 - the next match is now on 6 March, at home to Würzburg Kickers. This is a very important game since it involves the opening of the new floodlights, five years since the previous lights were removed on safety grounds. For the club to be allowed promotion to 3.Liga a proper floodlight system was mandatory. A special commemorative shirt will be worn by the team for a number of matches. The shirts are available for fans to buy at €65,00+
Yes, I thought it rather expensive. The price is for just a special-edition replica shirt, not a match-worn or something really special. The new lights have proved very costly. As and when RD pulls out FCC will find things very tough, especially with the new stadium to build and pay for.

When RD pulls out? Oh that's still a long way off, he hasn't totally screwed them over yet, - there's still work to be done.
The great day has arrived - this evening the new €1million floodlights are switched on, the first game under lights at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld for almost five years. The new lights are very impressive, despite being barely half the height of the old ones (38m as against 70m, which were the tallest in Europe).
FCC through Starke 14' and Wolfram 25' took an early 2-0 lead, only to let it go, the hosts equalising on 75'. No cards in the first half - seven yellows in the second, four incurred by FCC.
FCC are now 13th, 11 points clear of the dreaded 18th, the highest of the relegation positions.
Att 5907 (250 Jenaers)
For their next match FCC host high-flying 1. FC Magdeburg on 17 Mar.
FCC's special 3. Liga match against Würzburg Kickers on 6 Mar fell victim to an untimely snowstorm. The occasion should have seen the opening of the new floodlights. The game has now been re-arranged for 27 Mar.
The postponement cost FCC very dearly, so much so that they asked for 100 sponsors each to come up with €100 to help defray the evening's exceptional expenses.
Well, they have already had an impressive response - see attached link. With near-neighbours and bitter rivals Rot-Weiß Erfurt in desperate financial trouble clearly life in the third tier is a real fight for survival.
RD will probably have to make up for a million in losses this season - he probably thinks that's enough. On the other hand, a personal gesture might encourage others to chip in. The CEO has in fact done so from his private account. Dear old Roland will never understand fans ....
As I walked away from The Valley tonight after a lovely evening of nostalgia, that same thought crossed my mind, @GlassHalfFull. Roland never has and never will get it.
Tomorrow's important game against Magdeburg has been postponed because of snow and other severe weather conditions, including the possibility of ambient temperatures down to minus 20 deg.
15,000 there, more than at the Valley yesterday. Hansa Rostock is an iconic club. You can see graffiti supporting them literally 100kms along the Baltic coast from.
When we finally get shot of the old git, we should drop our Jena friends a line to wish them all the best. That was a great visit there with you, @GlassHalfFull
Absolutely, PA. It was a very special occasion for me, thanks in no small measure to your great companionship. It remains to be seen what happens if/when RD sells up. The stadium rebuild is a huge venture. With or without him Roland will cast a long shadow over FCC.
Hansa are the mob who came to FCC earlier in the season and flung some fish across into the FCC crowd. There is so much of interest in German football ....
@MadGerman beat me to it .... still no live text (perhaps no surprise in the circs) but Soccerway reports 0-2 at half time. FCC are usually strong at home so tonight is deffo not following the script. Edit : FCC's last home defeat was 241 days ago!!
63' still 0-2
82' now 1-2. Kevin Pannewitz for FCC
FT 1-2. Att : 6047 FCC remain in 15th position
Next match : at home to FSV Zwickau on Sat 31 March
Goalie note - this was the (Belgian) reserve keeper's second of two matches covering the nr.1's suspension (picked up retrospectively for winding up Erfurt fans after the recent 90+1' 1-0 derby winner). After giving away the first goal very early on, it seems he won't be hanging on to the gloves ....
Chris Förster, FCC Managing Director: "We are already very far in our planning beyond the season. Most players have ongoing contracts. With the few that expire after the end of the season contracts, we are in good talks. "
It's what most normal clubs aspire to. Why won't RD just sell us?
Tough test today for FCC in Meppen. The Meppen supporters will give Eismann a very special welcome. A win for Jena will secure a place in the 3. Liga for another year. I don't think Chemnitz is going to win all remaining games and FCC losing them all.

FC Hansa Rostock 0-0 FCC
Around 2000 Jenaers made the 900km round-trip to the Baltic coast.
An important away point from a tough fixture which leaves FCC in 15th spot, 8 points ahead of the top relegation place and with two games in hand.
