Flat pitch, we desperately need a false shot

    Well done!
  • Gotcha

Boycs summed it up well, Anderson and Broad build up pressure which is what you need to do with flat pitches

Lovely cutter from Broad. Changes in pace and release are effective on a slow pitch, but they need bowlers of skill to perform them. That five-for is on :)

looks to me as though it's all about Smith at the moment. Get him out and we are well on top but otherwise he can get 200 and we will be behind.

This is only the second England XI to contain 11 players born in England since 1989. The last one was in 2003. Another interesting fact from TMS's wonderful Andrew Samson.

    Malan was born in England?!
  • Why the f'ing f is Sarah Aley telling TMS fans how to bowl a slower ball?
I mean I am as non masculine as anyone, but why oh why has the BBC placed female opinions about cricket, motorbiking and other sports as high as the male opinion??
    Equality gone mad

TMS stat. First time since 2003 we have played a test with everyone born in England. Only 3rd time since 1989. In fact in over 900 tests it has only happened in something like 189 tests.
I didn't even realise Stokes was born in New Zealand, coming to UK when he was 12.
There have been many overseas born although most have UK parents and roots. Key names would include Prior, KP, Strauss, Smith, Cowdrey, Dexter, Hussain, Lamb, Jones, Sure I have missed some other key ones

It ticks one of the the many boxes that the BBC is obsessed with.

    Don't doubt Sansom!
  • Good tactics here, you can easily see a false shot being induced

Would be nice to have more of their expertise and insights rather than the 'balance' the BBC have to push out.

In the interests of balance I'll point out that Alison Mitchell is a very, very good commentator

Fancy Broad to have one of his magic spells here and clean up the tail

Well, there's Starc, but not how anyone might have thought

I'll be glad to be proved wrong!

Let's hope England can remove a tail better than Kent usually manage.

    Completely disagree.

I'll admit that's only because we're playing Australia and her last name is Mitchell, though.
