Then you don't appreciate cricket. He may be an arse sometimes, even a lot of the time, but no one living knows more about cricket than him.
Knowing 'more about cricket' doesnt make him a good broadcaster, and tbh, how Harvey Thistlethwaite used to bat/bowl in 1930's has little bearing on todays game and zero interest with most of the cricket watching public.
Who's going to Scunthorpe today?! My plan is to watch(listen) to as much as i can then set Alarm for 1pm, go out and get some 'supplies' and then IFollow the Scunny game, then Liv v Chelsea after on Navixsport.
Got to be happy with that first session, restricted the scoring and took a few wicket's, getting Smith would have been good but get the rest out cheaply and keep him tied up at the other end and it doesn't really matter what he does. Hope Jimmy's injury isn't too serious.
Great effort by England in the first session, but worried about Jimmy. Night all
?????
Out tonight and haven't caught a ball. What's happened?
Jimmy seems to have some sort of niggle/strain. Not major, but worrying
Is it obvious where on the body?
Worried about this too.
But worried even more by @Addickted2TheReds rating cricket above Charlton...
Haha, sorry H! That said, probably don't have the same emotional attachment to England than I have to Charlton but I do think test cricket is a better sport than football...
If he's injured, he should have gone off for treatment. The fact that he stayed in the field (despite being taken off) tells me they intend for him to bowl immediately after lunch. (If he'd gone off, he would have to be back on the field for as long as he was off, before he could bowl again).
I hope I'm right. But it would be cataclysmic if it's the sort if strain that sidelines him for a few weeks.
TMS stat. First time since 2003 we have played a test with everyone born in England. Only 3rd time since 1989. In fact in over 900 tests it has only happened in something like 189 tests. I didn't even realise Stokes was born in New Zealand, coming to UK when he was 12. There have been many overseas born although most have UK parents and roots. Key names would include Prior, KP, Strauss, Smith, Cowdrey, Dexter, Hussain, Lamb, Jones, Sure I have missed some other key ones
1: Test Cricket 2: Football 3: All other cricket 4: Who cares
Admitting that on a football forum? Brave.
0. for me would be Charlton (thanks to indoctrination) but otherwise agreed
May have agreed with you a couple of years ago, but should probs leave the Roland debate off the Ashes thread haha!
That said, it's quite clear the true sporting pinnacle is Old Colfeians v Beckenham... :-)
Haha that won't happen for a while! And it's not really a pinnacle when it's so one sided, sigh
Come join the dark side mate, you'll get a bat and bowl every week (only because you'll bat after the top order is ripped out and bowl when the other six of us bowl like drains...)

Well something must make him a good broadcaster, that is why as soon as he finished playing he was snapped up by the BBC, Sky, C4, C9 and now BT Sport, not to mention the TV companies of India and S Africa amongst others.

Off to bed, so hopefully will wake up to good news!
