  • And I would get Bairstow batting at 5 for the very same "right handed" reason.
  • 45-0 off 15 at drinks. Great start but a vulnerable time immediately after drinks as evidenced by the number of times batsmen get out in the first over after them.
  • Opening partnership of 100+ needed to put some pressure on their bowlers. I don’t see it happening but as Geoff Boycott said it’s a funny old game (or am I getting mixed up?)

    Half way to that target.
  • Is that the first 50 opening partnership of the series?
  • Lovely stuff from the openers.
  • Got away with one. Top edge from Stoneman inches short of being caught. As fellow off-spinner @Leuth rightly noted, Lyon is scary.
  • Stoneman dropped. The sweep is a "risk/reward" shot hitting with the spin let alone against it on a turning and bouncing track.

    Yes it is.

Turns it almost as much as me. Bowls a couple of mph quicker and maybe hits better areas. Oh look here's a review

Cook gone lbw to Lyon after a review. 53-1
  • 53-0 will become 70-3

Get a grip! It's just one wicket, and it's our rabbit. Vince will sort Lyon out*

    * maybe
  • Need a century from one of our lot.

@Riviera will love that one. Cook got well forward, ball looks like it could have been sliding down leg - 99% benefit of the doubt to the batsman in club cricket.

    Haha suppose you're right
  • Alistair Cook's averages versus spin/pace:

    Since 2015:
    v pace: 53.0
    v spin: 35.3

    2010-2014:
    v pace: 40.6
    v spin: 76.3
  • Vince destroys Lyon for a single to long leg. Momentum: shifted
  • Cook's average against Murali and Warne - 74

    Cook's average against Lyon - 19.5

Can’t resist a nibble at that one. I think you do yourself an injustice as you have more variation than Lyon - in particular the surprise beamer over the batsman’s head. In fact it’s only your stubborn refusal to bat left-handed that is keeping Moeen in the England side ahead of you.
  • It is so important that Vince and Root bat for a long time against Lyon. If they get in of course.

Time to step up you two.
  • Arse, silly Stoneman
  • Stoneman out to Starc for 36.

    54-2
  • Piers Morgan opened his gob on twitter at 50-0.

    We're 4-2 since.

Did he? Is he not on live TV at the minute

Sadly it's not just spin that Cook is now vulnerable against - one 50 in his last dozen innings for England and that was against the CA X1
  • Target less than 300.

    He's basically live tweeting it.

This is what he put up when Cook and Stoneman were going well

  • Its such a shame that Vince always looks so good.
