Root left it on purpose. He knew it was too high & now putting doubt in umpires mind that the ball might not always be hitting the stumps. Next time they may just give it not out & so any reviews will then be on our side under "umpires call". Smart thinking by Root
I think Smith thought that he was making up for the one against Cook that he didn't allow Hazlewood to review. So at least three bad decisions by Smith in this Test, the worst of all being not enforcing the follow on.
Runs dried up. Need to start putting pressure on the bowlers & to start scoring again.
The runs will come. Just need these two to survive this session because tomorrow they will have, without the lights, 14 overs to the new ball and 66 overs to the lights.
They simply have to send Bairstow in next. If Root is still there then we have two right handers to "milk" Lyon but there is also a rare opportunity for two batsmen, who have batted all their lives together at county level, to feed off each other and to put together a meaningful partnership.

Absolute bellend. If he would’ve left it chances are it would’ve ended up at first slip anyway
So my view is this - if England win, it will be because of their captain. But if Australia win, it will be despite theirs.
Starc going for a few.
I'm not saying anything.
