    Bernard Cribbins

    29 December 1928

I shall annoy @Riviera by posting it now whilst watching Quartet which I thought might have a few more contenders in the cast but they are all too young!

You’ll be brilliant on this thread in 40 years’ time, @LenGlover
  • Alexander Singer

Numerous credits as Director including: The Fugitive, The Monkees, Alias Smith And Jones, Cagney and Lacey, Star Trek and many more.

    Can't believe we've missed him.
  • We missed him because he doesn't qualify.
This thread is for CELEBRITIES over 90 and not PEOPLE over 90.

Happy Birthday dear Bernard. A stalwart of British film, theatre and television. My favourite role of his is undoubtedly Mr. Hutchinson the spoons salesman.

Regards Mr Cribbens ; I sold him a pair of Clark’s NatureVelt in 1985 at the Peter Lord shop. I’m happy to confirm he wore shoes in the eighties

Matthew Corbett (an absolute legend from my childhood) is still alive and kicking and will turn 71 on his birthday this year. Real first name Peter.

Featuring 1 minute 20 seconds in this video about Geoffrey Hayes's passing. Of course another legend.

Sorry Matthew is a few years off qualifying for my thread. You need to >90.
  • Popeye was born in 1898 so that makes him 121 by my reckoning.

    But he's dead.

  • My mate just sent me a text - Mott the Hoople are playing in Boston. Ian Hunter will be 80 this year

Doesn't make this one I'm afraid. Just a Yankee nobody.

Jet Black is already 80 and neither of them are over 90.
  • Happy 90th birthday today to Dame Patricia Routledge distinguished actress.

Television audiences will remember her as Hyacinth Bucket and Hetty Wainthrop.
  • Would never have thought she was that old.
  • Just like London buses nothing for ages then two in quick succession.

Today we say Happy 90th Birthday to Len Deighton, author, who specialised in spy thrillers.

Funeral In Berlin and The Ipcress File were two of his novels that were made into films and Michael Caine (only 85) gave memorable performances in both as the 'hero' Harry Palmer.

Not forgetting The Billion Dollar Brain, the third novel in the series with the film adaption directed by Ken Russell.

There does seem to be some confusion online with some sources stating he was born in 1929. and others saying 1933. I suppose he will know which is correct! Need Chirpy to adjudicate!

Dickie Davies born 30/4/33. Wiki, IMDB and Screenonline all agree.
So he's 86 as is his contemporary Frank Bough 15/01/33

    Mohamed Al-Fayed born 27 January 1929.
  • Thelma Barlow, who played Mavis in Coronation Street and Dolly in dinnerladies is 90 today.
  • Alan Davidson
