Has anyone (on here) actually managed to make a profit on Crypto i.e. cashed out and banked the money? It feels so volatile that timing the market to actually claim a real (and not paper) profit feels very speculative. I further wonder if those that perhaps did cash out then went back in and are still 'up' overall.
Yes. I posted previously on this thread about having bought in at the dip at the start of this year. I put a decent chunk in and have since withdrawn that amount out in cash, as well as a 50% profit on the initial stake. I still have more left in than my initial stake and will see this run out until the halving next year and then assess my portfolio.

For reference, BTC is currently @ about US$44k/£34.5k and likely (although not guaranteed, obviously) to hit US$80k as the halving hits. It will then take a dive so hitting that sweet spot will be the aim, though taking out @ US$70k isn't to be sniffed at.

Other coins have also performed well for me. Solana, which I bought at a similar time, increased 500% over the following 10 months, and I managed to exchange that balance for BTC a few weeks back.

The above is my personal experience and appreciate that others will have had their fingers burned when jumping in on the crest of the wave when it last peaked.
  • Bitcoin ETFs approved by the SEC.
  • BTC approaching 50k in the last few weeks.
  • So, did our sponsorship friends who were represented by that bloke in a balaclava make any money in the end?

Are they having the last laugh on us?

Last I saw they had a tie in with a top 5 network that meant their NFT holders were receiving a bucket load of free meme coins each day. That coin went on a run that increased 10,000% over a few months!!! That was giving the holders appx 8p per day per NFT.

    So, no 😂
  • Silly season back in full force. Haven't bought anything in a few years, but fancied a punt on something stupid and I'm nearly 400% up on Solama in 2 days. Literally does absolutely nothing and is a cartoon llama on the Solana chain
  • $82k per BTC now. Just the $38k increase in 11 months.

Could be a fun few months.
  • Big jump after US election
  • 100K plus before the end of the year!

Aye, true...Was coming either way but potentially not so soon. I think I said elsewhere, but as soon as Georgia was called for him it has only gone one way!
  • What we all wasting our money on now? This cycle seems different as its all pump fun meme coins

I've got splinters on my arse for daring to see both sides of the arguments... that's just as unpopular lol. 100k before December?

I have one of my pensions invested in some company that does that sort of thing. My investment had its best 2 days since covid, 2.5% rise in 2 days, which quite a sum of money in all seriousness for people like me. I can't really complain about it but I'm not entirely happy with the reason why. Also I noticed my crypto account has seen a 30% rise since the Don was re-elected. I have my money spread across 4 different currencies, I now have £48 in my account. If the Americans can elect more convicted people to lead their country me and the wife will need to give up work.
  • I’m sure this is all going to adjust a bit. Just a typical knee jerk one way or the other when a big political change takes place. Cash in while you can or keep them long term.
  • All I need to do now is remember/find my MetaMask password :)

    This. Correction incoming.
  • I have followed the rise a rise of Bitcoin, and sat on the sidelines. I totally appreciate that you are dealing with unregulated Crypto Exchange platforms to buy and hold your coin, and also that the market is very volatile  having no sound basis, for rises and falls.

However, to at least try and reduce some of the risk on my Bet/Gamble. Who do those with some knowledge, believe the best platform is to trade through.

Coinbase is very user friendly but they can sting you for fees if you are using the "simple" section of the app. Other choices are crypto.com and kraken.

  • The portfolio is looking alot healthier. The key is when to take profits before the correction... any idea when that'll be?

Likely be multiple corrections, but if you mean like when it went from 60k down to 20k, history tells us around next summer. I suspect 100k will be a big hurdle to break though.

Personally selling 6k in March to fill up mine and the missus allowance then the rest around late June / early July just to get ahead of it.
  • Wish I'd got into $PNUT

    Hit $1.3bn for those uneducated:

PNUT is a meme coin launched on the Solana blockchain and inspired by a pet squirrel named Peanut. The animal garnered significant attention at the start of the month when the New York state authorities euthanized it to conduct rabies tests after it allegedly bit a DEC worker during a seizure operation

You could check out Ziglu - a Revolut me too, that has a UK license to market crypto and is regulated by the FCA.  They are also planning to give interest on some coins.  Full disclosure, I'm an investor.
  • I took a load of profit, not bitcoin but ADA, decided I needed to spread the risk into a Blackrock fund, and just keep the cash there. Sold down the lot, also dodged CGT on it, so take your win and depart the scene
