As I can't really see her living in a 2 up 2 down terrace I can only assume she will be 'working from home' a lot. Forty-three years. That's my personal record. The longest I have ever held a grudge. In this case, it was against a group of disgusting, nihilistic football hooligans, supporting Sheffield Wednesday.
I'm slightly ashamed of the delight I felt when I found out - through @LouisMend on Twitter - that Katrien Meire had taken the CEO role at Sheffield Wednesday. Ashamed, because no-one should take that much delight at the misfortune of others. But, in this case, I think it's justified.
They simply do not know what's going to hit them.
We know the harm this malevolent idiot has done to Charlton. And, while we know the harm doesn't fully stop just because she's scuttled off elsewhere, we are safer in the knowledge she's no longer wreaking havoc in the way she has done over almost four years.
The reason they don't know what's going to hit them is simple. None of her actions are predictable. No-one knew she'd come up with the sofa or sell all of our better players. No-one knew she'd slag off fans, but grin out of the windows of the West Stand while she did so. No-one knew she'd close the ticket office one day a week; and then react to the criticism by closing it a second day. Then turn it into an NHS call centre.
No-one knew she'd demonstrate, in graphic terms, exactly what she was doing to the club by filming two people enacting it in the centre circle.
No-one knew that, deep down, she had a limitless supply of compassion, trust and sympathy for fans and would do anything she could to accommodate them. (Sadly, this only went for Bournemouth's fans, not ours).
No-one knew that a CEO might consider it appropriate to arrive at work so late, so regularly; leave others to oversee and perform critical tasks on match-days; or disappear overseas as the club reached its nadir with yet another relegation to the lowest-level of its Football League history.
History? Of course no-one knew that the CEO cared so little of the club's history; nor that she would be so easily distracted by making claims - categorically denied - about the plans of a takeover consortium.
Each failure was fresh, new, unexpected and impossible to mitigate against. So, while many of her failures were greeted with a shrug of the shoulders and a resigned acceptance, the true devastation this imbecile inflicted was always a surprise to everyone else, if not to her.
In January 1975, a terrified young brother and sister were pinned against the railings in Floyd Road, following an FA Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday. Fists, bricks and bottles were thrown. Fuck all this niceness , she was utter shit , clueless beyond belief As a match sponsor over several years and having done a couple under this regime (she’s the only CEO who didn’t make an effort with us as sponsors ) When I emailed her a couple of times telling her the reasons for me pulling out of match sponsorship and mascot stuff for my kids , there was no response . Years back when I attempted to leave Valley Gold Steve Dixon rang me up to talk me back in . Reg Varney sent emails thanking me etc Even the Geordie Smiler made and effort to meet us sponsors . That lazy back and front , nothing . As someone who hates people it’s not a problem but when she’s supposed to be the face of a football club she has to have more people skills than silly girl smiles.
Anyway she has been involved ,at the top end of our club , which led to my group of 20 disintegrating to just me and my 4 boys going , so we’ve missed out on family and friends time together . I think football in this country has changed permanently now. The sorts of money floating about means that the local owner and local businessman can no longer get involved. It’s bad because so few clubs win (Chelsea, Man City for example) but many, many clubs lose
I actually pray for the day for the bottom to fall out the game because you’ll no longer have owners buying championship clubs in the hope of getting them into the prem then abandoning them as they realise how much money they end up losing, thereby screwing them over. Players won’t be getting astronomical wages for making up squads and hopefully fans get their clubs back
