just a scenario we get up this season to championship through playoffs, halfway through next season were sitting in 12th with robbo at the helm, do you bin him off to get scp in?

oh and roland has sold.
I think if Robinson gets us promoted and has us mid-table in our first year back we'd be pretty happy with that wouldn't we?
If we'd been bought by new owners in December during our sticky spell, it's possible that they might have brought Powell in then, but now the takeover is likely to be after the transfer window has passed, and the team are starting to win again, it's most unlikely new owners would make a change before the summer anyway.
Knowing what we know now about there being no money at all for transfers, refreshment of contracts, seeding the pitch even, casts the achievement of that season in an entirely new light. And certainly highlights SCP's own class, dignity and forbearance.
Fantastic news for SCP, I had hoped we'd see him back as our manager one day but none the less I'm glad he's back in management, he deserves it an I think he'll do Ok there, he's almost as much as a legend there as here.
Seems to me if he felt he had any chance to be manager under new owners, he would not have taken this job. My guess each new owner has their own plans already, and none involved him at this time.
Don't really care how exciting the football was under Powell - being able to turn up on a Saturday knowing the fans and players were all united under a common love for Charlton was exciting enough for me.

This. And the football was pretty good given the circumstances, we had some really memorable wins home and away. Those saying otherwise are trying to find things to criticise whether it is some kind of coping mechanism for them or whether they simply like being obtuse I'm not sure.

In many scenarios I'm reading it's simply because some people have something against those that post regularly on here and will therefore automatically take the opposing stance, no matter how illogical it is. Particularly with a couple doing the rounds on social media.
Coincidentally, also the types that have something against CARD.

Give it a break Canters, wassa matter with you?,it wasn't just me who said the football was turgid. And imo , it was !! - but i'm not arguing about his record (take away his first season, and his time at Huddersfield) so that leaves only really 1 season where he got it 'right'.
Wow, there's some real Powell bible bashers on here.

Mate it wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular. It was a response to a small minority who have recently started slating the Powell years (a lot of it to justify Roland in some way). It's very much an argument used on SE7 Valiants and the the other place that because the fans began to get angry when Powell was sacked and that ended up morphing into the protests they hate the protests (more the people involved) and so they have to agree with the Powell sacking and find ways to justify it in their head. They are trying to rewrite history.
I know you're not in that camp. I accept it's your opinion that the football was turgid, I vehemently disagree that it was.
Other than the start of that last season when the rug had been pulled and we were a few months from Roland coming in when things got a bit dire and were backs to the wall grind out what we could (understandably). The football in the previous 2 seasons was very good (even more so that first championship season when the full context has since been revealed). That 15 game run at the end of the first season up which (barring a loss to Millwall) was exceptional. Harriot bombing down the wing, Stephens showing his creative side in CM Yann up top with Fuller or Obika. We scored lots and played great.
Even in that last season it wasn't as bad as it's being made out. The emergence of cousins (and later Poyet) was a benefit and really brought out the best of Stephens who really made us tick and scored some wonder goals. Stewart was on fire for a period and scored some crackers from outside the box. Wilson turned from shite to alright. And we still had Yann doing the business up top even if Church wasn't a great partner for him.
Yes we had some tough battling backs to the wall performances in there but there were also some games where we played decent football. Wilson scoring a brace against Brighton on boxing day comes to mind. And those backs to the wall performances were exactly what was needed to keep us up that year. We did them because we had a manager who knew when to play the nice football and when to do whatever it takes to grind out a result. That's exactly what you and others have criticised Robbo for not being able to do this year.
Those backs to the wall fighting performances have produced many equally as enjoyable days and good memories as the good footballing performances. How about QPR home that year. Jackos last min winner is my favourite moment of all time ever. I have never gone so mental. I will never forget that feeling.
Except for the run earlier this season, and even shorter runs under Peeters and Luzon, we haven't had football as good as that since. Powell gave me my best footballing memories and some brilliant football. The man is a god and should be revered. I don't want Robbo sacked as I like him and want him backed. But if we are ever in a position to need a new manager Sir Chris Powell would be top of my list by a country mile.
Took my 10 year old to football for the first time under SCP. Saw 13 away wins in 14 games. She's never looked back. If it hadn't been for SCP and what he built, she could have been lost to the Wendies, Pigs or something plastic. Having a kid grow up 200 miles from your club takes some cementing. SCP did that for me with my girl and i'll never forget that season or what him and his team did for football supporting in my family. I still struggle to think of his swinging from the crossbar at Hillsborough without getting a lump in my throat. Legend in our house. The very best of wishes.
Kermorgant, Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Jackson, Wright-Phillips, Stephens - all players that Powell made regulars in the side and got the best out of.
Hard to understand how watching those names play regularly in a Charlton shirt wasn't 'entertaining'. What exactly are you expecting when you follow a small club like ours'?
Yes, and I have an interest about how Chris is doing. Nothing wrong with following his progress. A good bloke who was dealt a rough one by RD. I hope he'll do ok at Southend.

Plymouth Argyle will come good.

Only they can explain why.

Well Southend have equalised versus Scunny now.
