Loving this thread. Very interesting. Not quite Charlton related but nearby I used to play over in the vast area of the Woolwich Arsenal as a kid. Some great fishing in the moats around the test facilities full of Crucian Carp. Also used to venture down into the underground hospital near the firing ranges. Took home a grenade and hundreds of bullet cases which I used to shine up and sell to my friends. I gave the grenade to my neighbour and his Mum found it and went beserk. Happy days
Tenuous link to Charlton. A friend of mine bought a German S-mine, also known as a Bouncing Betty, from a militaria show. When he got it home he realised what looked like mud inside was the explosive.
The tenuous link is that his wife used to come to Charlton with me for about ten years - people in the stand around us thought we were an item, we'd been going together for so long.
Came across some old newspaper clippings today while searching for a "Me at 20" photo. These may have been posted before, but are all from local and national coverage of the return to the Valley. Anyone in these?
Don't think Dean ever lived down that photo of him crying.
He shouldn't have to live it down. How many on here can honestly say they weren't emotional that day?
IIRC we lost 1-0 that day. I remember late in the second half Carlo being through one on one and letting fly..........The ball ended up out of the ground.

What a great turnout we had that day. Proud to have been one that was there. Guess that picture was taken from the west stand
I was also there and what a toxic day it was
