CARD statement 15/3/18: protests set to resume on Easter Monday (ed. cancelled)

  • A few thoughts

I have some sympathy to Murray in that while he said that he expected the takeover to happen in February, that was an estimation. These things can take time, for example the takeover of Wigan (a much better run club) first emerged in October, was more formally announced in early February, and still hasn't happened.

We don't know why it hasn't happened yet, maybe it's the buying party faffing around? I'd be more happy to lay the blame 100% on Roland if the potential buyers actually came out into the open, stated their interest publicly and frustration that the takeover hadn't happened. After all in most takeovers of football clubs, the buyers are known (e.g. the Wigan buyers are HK based International Entertainment Corporation)

In terms of season tickets, I certainly won't be rushing to renew, but even if I did before Roland sold the club, it's not as if he'd get the money - such advanced cash would be factored into the price of the club, e.g if £600k had been received for 2018/19 season tickets in advance of the takeover, and taken out by Roland, this would come out of the sale price.

Other forum ? Don’t go on any forum assumption is the mother of all f**k ups and once again it has proven that when people don’t agree with others comments are made that are untrue. #donedeal
    That doesn’t make any sense.
Neither does someone stating you go on another forum and become a hero, further more and even more embarrassingly is when the poster retracts the post. Pretty much somes up the individual.
    Simmer Simmer angry boy
You'll be getting an invite to the Lib Club.
It didn't do a lot for Nick Clegg !

This protest is likely to be more exciting than the football. Bring it on...
  • if a sale has not materialised by the end of June latest then we need to launch a large initiative in Belgium. Really mess up his business interests. It does get under his skin.

While I applaud the reintroduction of protests, with no-one being there (CEO, owner etc) who gives a crap I'm not sure of how successful they will be unless CARD has something very imaginative up their sleeves which will grab media attention here and in Belgium.

Throwing their not inconsiderable weight of expertise, media contacts, publicity skills etc...... behind the ROT campaign would be a good starting point. Better late than never.
Could not agree more. I think quite a majority now believe that action in Belgium is the best way forward and both money and expertise should be directed there. Robbo is right about one thing, answers have to come from Rolly.

What are the odds of the new edition of VOTV going on sale that day. #donedeal
Did you become obsessed with Rick before CARD existed or because of CARD?
The day I lost respect for CARD when one of them made a remark about my 11year old wearing the new shirt and one of the CARD brigade calling me a scab on here, comparing me to a miner in the strike. The way I see it they are pretty good reasons
It's a shame things like that have happened but it doesn't mean everyone who supports CARD would agree with it.
Well you are a better person than me, there is a line you don’t cross and members of CARD have crossed it twice, no respect for them at all
From what you've said elsewhere in here you never felt the protests are justified anyway. It looks like those incidents are being used an excuse to hate everyone linked to CARD.

I just don't see why you'd label an entire group of people in the same way. I wouldn't hate an entire department at work if a couple of people within it crossed a line and really wound me up.
Whilst giving away the free programmes I was abused by several people. Just let it go. In any situation like this there'll be differences.
A shame to hide behind that as a reason to not support CARD though.

Excellent. Finally I have some motivation to attend a game again.

And give it large Mr Largo.

Good stuff, It'll give the Burger Boy something to do as well, with planning a response, now that Sparrows Lane is on "hold"

Give him a break Harry, he’s got to learn to tie his shoelaces first.

Cant imagine Murray is too pleased with Robbo at the moment.

His recent words became a catalyst for the new organised protests

And let’s give Karl credit for that.

He’s over 16 - not really your sort of row is it?
Wish to elaborate on that comment. Or do you want to PM other posters on here about me as you have done in the past ?
    Ohhh the irony of this.

Coming from the guy who PM'd me and threatened to beat me up if ever he found out who I am and warned me away from attending Charlton games if I didn't want to get into trouble with the wrong people. All because I questioned your reasons for disagreeing with the protests.

I still go to Charlton regularly. Haven't had any issues yet!
LOL, tell the full story you clown
What's there to tell? We disagreed on a thread you messaged me and I apologised if you'd taken offense but stood by my points (because I'm not a knuckle dragger whose only way to resolve a disagreement is through fighting). You then started threatening me and got upset when I called you a sad internet troll.
I never threatened, the facts are you openly accused and made accusations on an open forum in which were wrong, i said if you want to say such things then say it to my face and here is where i am at and where i can be found, hardly threatening, we can all be keyboard warriors and snipe at people but then when confronted you accuse people of threatening you, not one threat of violence was made, in fact i told you to meet me in a public place either before or after a match. So please if you wish to make an issue please tell the full story.
Really? So saying "people know who I am, come and find me at the lib and me and my mates can show you what's what" that's not a threat? Saying "I suggest you avoid Charlton for a while as you might run into the wrong people" that's not a threat? Saying you were trying to find out who I am so you could do the above. Thays not a threat?

    Interesting.

Don't worry though we all know you're all talk.
Bloody hell. Who has the time or the energy to threaten people on Charlton Life??
  • Well done CARD

    Jesus!
Leopards really don't change their spots do they?

Ffs. Protest if you want. Support the team if you want. Do both if you want.

But stop throwing your testosterone about on here like you're all in some cheesy 80's football firm flick.

The voice of reason! Well said. Do you need any more mods on here @AFKABartram ?
  • I wouldn’t be surprised if Murray wasn’t the reason it has not been concluded

There has been a lot of shot talk released on purpose to get things out in the open forum and none of them helpful

We are up for sale that’s one good thing

This WIWALB fella only comes on here for the wind up. I admire your respect for freedom of speech here on CL, I must say.

Murray has lived off of past glories for far too long. As for the suggestion he walks? It will never happen as money is his god and he feels justified to take in the debt owing. He like Daisy, have gotten off very lightly.

He doesn't need to be there to get the £2.6m he is owed; there are six others owed £4.4m on the same terms who aren't on the board.

Agree he's got off ridiculously easy but ego is the reason he's staying, not money.

I also agree with NLA if he meant that Murray's involvement is not gonna be conducive to Duchâtelet selling. As Murray won't accept not being involved with the new owners.

I know RD calls the shots but would be surprised if there wasn't an element of truth in that, especially as Duchâtelet doesn't really give a toss about the club, and can sell when *he* wants.
    Nail on head mate

Murray has no power and no choice in it, except at Duchatelet's whim.
  • DOUCHER said:

I won't be renewing until the takeover is done that's for sure - when Murray gets back he must surely make another statement - I'll see what he says before deciding whether to protest or not. No statement and I will protest.

@DOUCHER mate, you should stay on this thread. On this thread you’re a hundred miles away from being the biggest idiot on it and your post even makes sense. Great effort.

Why he hangs around as you rightly say while others are owned money is a mystery to me. Don't see the other six doing the same
  • So theres been no protests at the ground all season and now with 3 games to go we decide to protest.
Might aswell leave it for the rest of the season and if his not sold by july plan for next season

Probably as simple as he likes being on the board?

He presumably hangs around because he supports the club he has invested time and money in.

    Rolly is the enemy here.
