Not quite as bad a trip as poor James, but left home hours early with thoughts of a look around Rochdale and a nice pub lunch. Ended up going straight into the ground and having a horrible pie. This was the culprit.

At one point I was whizzing past the National Football Museum, on my way to missing another train at Manchester Victoria Station, and the penny dropped. Make a day of it. Go early, visit a nice museum, have some lunch, maybe enjoy a glass of Prosecco, get to the match a little early....
Stayed at home with plenty of beer and whisky. Invited my mum over for dinner. She is 88 bless her. Ordered an Indian takeaway for after the match. My mum has only ever been to one football match in her life and that was in the 70s. After watching Saturdays game she said to me we are not that good are we. No mum Barcelona we ain't I said. So why have you been watching them for over 50 years . Because your brother started taking me when I was ten and it is a lifetime commitment. So both my kids and my three grandkids are going to have to go through what I have.
Serves me right for tweeting. Serves them right for not reading my Twitter profile.
So has the Standard just written that story from your tweets?
Almost. He messaged me, so gave him a bit more info. But didn't bother to tell him about Jimmy Seed, who he clearly thinks is just another Charlton fan
Luckily, we were only 45 minutes behind schedule, so still got a few beers in at the Moorcock. Didn't get to the Radcliffe arms until 4pm because f the diverted M62 traffic.
@PeterGage didn't get to the Moorcock until 5pm and jumped in a cab with some fellow Addicks just in time - ripped off by the cab driver though.
@SoundAsa£ arrived at the ground at half time - despite leaving his remote northern hell hole lovely house in Lincs at about 1pm.
Nearly got into the ground late because @el-pietro doesn't stop talking....... which is strange for an Irish lad.
Managed to meet 'Spanish Dale' who seemed overwhelmed by all the attention - and not expecting such a welcome from the Charlton fans.

Took me 3 hrs from York, left there at 3pm missed the first 30 mins of the game,
Felt like more than that too. Wonder if that was advance sales only? Spent the game standing and singing so felt like the old days. Throat struggling for Thu now!
