This WC has been excellent so far and the wonderful VAR has enriched the experience.
The human part of VAR still needs to catch up with the technology. By the Euro's we will wonder how we managed before.2 -

Both Lingard's goal and Quaresma's were sublime though and expect a few more like that before the Tournament is done1 -
i.e. Nacho's ability to strike the ball so cleanly and level when it was still moving beforehand, the fact he's a Defender is a factor too, that sort of strike from that type of player should have gone for a throw in0

Brush past him by raising his forearm to the back of the blokes head? It's soft, and as usual the player made a meal of it, and in real life I think the yellow was the right decision. I would suggest that penalties are not the strongest part of the best player of the 21st century's game, he has missed 6 now for Portugal. However despite this poor ratio he is still the 1st name on any teamsheet of the modern era.paulie8290 said:

The BBC have not stopped banging on tonight with the VAR for Ronaldo's Red Card whilst ITV didn't even show the incident in their highlight show tonight. IMO it wasn't even a Yellow let alone a Red. Chris Sutton however (who I personally love on 5Live) did not stop going on about how Ronaldo should have been sent off and the Ref had bottled it.0

Yeah the Peru Australia game will be far more open than France Denmark. If anything the latter game is more likely to be a 0-0 result as it suits both teams.
On the opposite side of the coin, Australia must win and you only have to look at Morocco's performance tonight to know that a goalless team won't sit back in their last group game.
Denmark may be tempted to push for a winner in the second half if they hear that Australia are losing - at that point they have a risk free chance at winning the group. Otherwise, both teams will be content with kicking it around in the centre circle for 90 minutes.
France have previous with 0-0 results in the last group game as well. Against Ecuador in 2014 and against Switzerland in 2016.1 -

Yes I believe it was deliberate hence why I thought a yellow was not sufficient. That is not a natural motion for your arm to make and to me, that shows that the intent was to strike the opposition player.The Red Robin said:

This is why I love the World Cup, all of the little boys have been sent home to bed, and it is up to the big boys to scrap it out for the main prize.
Portugal Vs Spain is one of those games, when it is hard to calculate whom you despise the most.
Is it the snarling, cynical and generally uncivilised Uruguayans or is it the preening, play-acting and generally un-loveable Portugese?
A further sub-plot involves the most combustible modern player -Luis Suarez - playing directly up against a centre back in Pepe, who is possibly the most nefarious character in the modern game.
Can see it really kicking off in this one, with the Portugese luck finally running out, and Uruguay squeezing through by the odd goal.
