Have FIFA ordered the refs not to issue reds in anything other than the most extreme circumstance? No red for a headbutt in our game, no red in the SWE v SWI game, no red for Ronaldo. There's been plenty of other incidents that could have seen red, and some have even been referred to VAR and then ignored. Certainly seems like FIFA don't want red cards to "mar" matches.

But there was a red in the Sweden game at the end, and the Ronaldo incident was barely a foul, let alone a red.
The only one they have got wrong was last night, they should have let the referee look at it for himself

THEY DIDN'T STOP HIM.
The referee makes the final decision as to whether he will watch a replay. "If the VAR believes there has been a potential clear error, he or she will contact the referee with that judgment. The referee can then either (a) change the call on the advice of the VAR or (b) conduct an on-field review (OFR) by going to a designated spot on the sideline, called the referee review area, to review the video with the help of the review assistant or (c) decide that he/she is confident in the original call and not conduct an OFR".

Exactly so they told him a yellow was fine.
The ref did not see the incident as he was dealing with something else.
VAR saw the replay so saw it clearly.
They should have said you need to look at the replay yourself.
No they said they felt it was a yellow, as he didn't see it he should have opted to review it.
The mistake is his own and not VAR's.
So despite having replays they were wrong, how is it not there fault.
Ref gives a yellow for something he hasnt seen clearly.
VAR with replays say we think its a yellow, so ref obviously sticks with his 1st choice, because VAR with replays have told him they agree.
If they had said we think its a red he would have looked, but no point in him wasting time in his opinion and looking when VAR have seen replays and said they think its a yellow
VAR should never have suggested anything other than review it. They aren't there to give bookings, as the system currently stands all they can do is say if it's worth a review or not.

The ref made his decision within the VAR guidelines, therefore VAR is also at fault. VAR is a system, not just some cameras. The desperation to exonerate Var from having any imperfections is getting a bit ridiculous.

Exactly this. VAR is only there to advise the ref if he has missed something, VAR isn't supposed to make any decisions on the refs behalf

Brazil v Belgium - Friday 7pm on BBC
Sweden v England - Saturday 3pm on BBC
Russia v Croatia - Saturday 7pm on ITV
Belgium will beat Brazil
Croatia will beat Russia
??????????
Belgium vs ???? Final
If we get Russia then we'd have the crowd, FIFA and probably the match officials all against us. And we'd likely get no VAR decisions either.

2, We would have plenty of excuses if we lost.
