  • Mitrovic double rugby tackled and yet no VAR.
  • Yup really looks like FIFA investigated the Harry Kane penalties really well the way Mitrovic was just handled

Another blatant bit of wrestling/rugby tackling not punished

Its the one fault of the World Cup... VAR was supposed to eliminate diving and wrestling with cards being given yet its being ignored even more by the Referees

Feels like refs are using it as a safety net at the moment.
  • If the VAR refs did not alert the ref to that incident they should not be allowed to take part in any remaining matches in this World Cup.

Have to wonder who the Video Refs are for this game and whether they're the same from the Tunisia game
  • VAR so good one minute then useless the next. That's the problem.
Mitro just wrestled to the ground.

Overall VAR have improved the WC but Kane and Mitrovic being wrestled by defenders is being allowed to go unpunished.
    Bizarre.

Don’t recall it being used for this game yet.
  • Did not see that coming.
  • Ref has to answer for this game now!!

Switzerland are the first team to lead a game having been 1-0 down in this World Cup if am right?

  • Always thought he was a bit tubby not maybe not.
  • Serbia losing a game where they should have had a penalty.

Not as lean as most but a little tank he is.

I think most people thought he was a bit chubby!

Going to be harder for Serbia now yet the way Brazil are playing you wouldnt put it past Serbia to get a result against them

Switzerland should then beat Costa Rica

Either way; Switzerland could end up above Brazil in terms of Goal Difference which could then setup a Brazil v Germany second round tie

If England then top the Group they'd avoid facing either beyond the Quarter Finals
  • Shaqiri the Bosnian Albanian,
Who plays for Switzerland was a power house 2nd half.

I wish I was that fat.
  • Serbia Brazil should be a good match. Serbia definitely have enough talent and physical presence to scare Brazil
  • That was a great game and reminded me of watching the world cup as a kid and just enjoying watching live international football as a neutral (which is appropriate, as Switzerland were involved).

Spain were 1 0 and 2 1 down against Portugal and were ahead 3 2 but I don't recall a team coming from behind to win until tonight

  • He was a keeper and Maradona about 4'3", if he'd have done his job and jumped properly then Maradona wouldn't have got anywhere near it anyway.
  • Shaqiri the Bosnian Albanian,

Indeed and a coat of varnish from scoring goal of the tournament

Think I would put about 10 goals in front of that.
  • Didn't he win goal of the tournament in 2016?

    Really ?

    Did you watch it live?

Look at the picture, Shilts was going to punch the ball, fatty punched it about 3 feet in front of him! The ball was 2 feet above fattys head.

Very harsh on Shilton or naive....

Great ( unbelievable in spells) player that he was and 2nd goal proved that, Maradona blatenly cheated - end of. Nothing to do with Peter "doing his job" properly.

Must be a WUM comment imo or just stated this for no reason ?

  • They only won 7 out of 18 games in the whole of qualification so it's not like they were winning that much even when he was in the team! Also its not exactly like competitive games come around every week - 600 days...? well their last competitive match was about 250 days ago... and they didn't score a single goal in 5 of their last 8 competitive games so saying 600 days is a bit misleading - no-one was scoring for Argentina.

And yes I know he got a hat trick in the final game of qualification! It was papering over the cracks of Argentina's issues though.

He probably wasn’t expecting the little f***** to slam dunk it in the net ffs. If his hand wasn’t there then that ball is getting punched away by Shilts followed by clothes lining that cheating scumbag and possibly ruining his facial features in the process.
  • Shilton jumped like a girl and should have taken out the ball and player.
Then in 90 his little pitter patter backward steps let in Germany’s goal followed by waiting to see which way the ball was going before diving in the penalty shoot out. And don’t even ask me about next game and being tackled in his own box when allowed to pick it up and conceding against Italy.
He cost us two world cups and a 3rd place

Reading this article about England's infamous 1-1 draw against Poland that cost us a place in the 74 World Cup, and saw the end of Alf Ramsey (Shilton was poor for their goal too) I noticed this little bit about our equaliser
Eight minutes later, England were given a glimmer of hope.

Martin Peters burst down the right wing and went down inside the area under a challenge from Adam Musial. Peters later admitted to diving, in desperation for England's cause. It worked - Belgian referee Vital Loraux awarded a penalty.
66 legend Martin Peters diving? I thought that was a modern thing brought in by "cheating foreigners"
