We have had some good behind the scenes coaches in the past. Nathan and Damian spring to mind. We have Euell and Baltacha in the wings plus others who I am not aware of. Bow has a team he is comfortable with. If he needs more, there are prized assets within the club without paying for outsiders.
Sounds similar to the illness suffered by Andy Hunt.
Christ I really hope thats not the case... Be a sad and early end to his promising career
I had pneumonia about 5/6 years ago. Now I'm only a semi professional athlete, but it took me a long while to get back to normal. When back at work, for months my chest would completely dry up when in meeting rooms with air con, and I'm not sure my lung capacity ever got back fully to how it was before.
Hope that is not the case with Dijksteel, but will depend entirely in the seriousness and spread of the infection in the lung.
Really Dan? Thought you were a bit short for a professional sumo wrestler.
We should be grateful to him. He is going to do his best with no guarantees about his future and no resources or financial support from the owner. Has he been talking up our chances too much! Of course he has, but we would be concerned if he didn't. He has to try to make the best of it. This season is a write off for me, but it could be worse than that, and we need to trust Bowyer to ensure it isn't worse than that!

I agree entirely. Perhaps, I worded it badly, but I didn't want to say Douchebag hadn't offered the promised contract, because he may have. Probably offering a pay cut :-(
Duchatelet has zero interest in the club. He wants to sell it as soon as he finds somebody stupid enough to buy it at his crazy price. Agree, he could offer Bowyer a contract but that would cost him money. Bowyer has an opportunity to impress the new owners - if we ever get them. I would imagine he sees this as a challenge. And I would say it definitely is that. I wish him all the best in that - he may be our best chance to save us from Duchatelet's incompetence sending us down deeper than we have ever been before!
I find this a little worrying from the piece in the Standard:
He wants his team to be fit and physical and has used some old-school training methods from his own playing days.
“The first day in Portugal we went out and just did running,” says Bowyer. “They were like, ‘what the hell is this?
“When I was playing, on the first day of training you would come in and do a long run. The next day you would not even be able to walk and then you have to do that same run.
“It did not hurt us. A lot of it is in the mind. The runs we were doing, mentally they had to get through it.”
A bit disconcerting given the problems we've had with injuries this pre-season.
I’m sorry for the situation Bowyer finds himself in but, honestly, this is a load of shite. If I was Bowyer I would walk. I don’t know his circumstances but I assume money isn’t an issue. If so I’d tell Roland to go take a hike.

Some people get a kick out of having the odds stacked against them. If he's suddenly looking at management as his future, turning Charlton round would be a massive feather in his cap. (Of course the opposite applies as well).

To be honest, I don't see how he can lose. If he turns us around and we do well or somehow, somehow get promoted, he is going to be deemed as one of our most successful managers for a long time as well as highly sought after by other clubs.
If it goes badly, other clubs will still look at him from what he has shown so far because of the situation the club is in and the circumstances he finds himself under, people wouldn't be put off him.
Walk Lee, this season is over, we have no chance in hell of promotion and the owner is going to put you in a position that makes your job impossible. There is nothing I’d love to see more than an owner who backs him as I totally believe he can get us promoted, but it won’t happen and I don’t want our club damaging your reputation.
Unfortunately Lee is just one of several reeled off the line to act as a human shield for RD. Ask Henderson, Jackson, Solly, Meire, Murray to name a few.
He’ll be hung out to dry like the rest of them.
I know he means well but we have no chance of promotion. To mention it shows his own naivety.

You really are a silly billy. Bowyer will back himself to produce a competitive side and will fancy his chances of making a fist of it and will have an eye on new owners backing him if they ever arrive. He will think he can sign a couple that will see him through to October and then he has half a side of good players coming back from injury’s.
I would also back him to get the results that will see us top half at the end of December.
Winners win. Losers get a good pay off. Best job in the world.

"It is what it is"
“Go up the A1, that’s the best way to get there, straight up the A1!"
Now Robinson would have given us an update on road works and alternative routes via Birmingham and Leeds.
Bowyer Out
Sadly it’s probably not the case at all.
