Bauer out for 2 months

  • Having just done a quick Google search on the injury, if it is completely ruptured 2 months sounds very optimistic. Surgery and 5-7 months sounds more common.

I know our medical team have been drastically wrong in the past with certain conditions, but if BFG is saying 2 months, I'd assume it's nowhere near as serious as you are suggesting

After all with JFC they said straight away he'd be out for the season
  • "Pat sustained an injury to the lateral ligament of his right knee in a challenge late in the game on Saturday. He has had an MRI scan today to further assess the damage to the ligament and following this scan he will see a knee consultant tomorrow in London to discuss the best management for the injury. We will know more details regarding the expected time to return following this appointment with the specialist."

Thrush's full injury update will be available at cafc.co.uk later this week.
  • Hmmm, tears do heal themselves and 2-4 weeks sounds about right.

Complete rupture as per PB initial comment is a bit more tricky.

You can build up muscle to take the place of the ligament under strain (recommended for older more sedentary types), or have surgery.

The former is fairly quick I think, 4 weeks, the latter is much longer for ACL the whole season, for LCL am not sure. Likely 2-3 months.

Bauer and medical team may choose to go muscular route for the season and then get it fixed permanently at the end of the season.
  • If it is a rupture I would be very surprised if it is only 2 months. More likely 4. Bollocks.

Yes, four months if ruptured is about right. But his leg was not ruptured, it was raptured. That suggests he pulled a muscle during orgasm. Been there, done that.

Are we unlucky with injuries or do we buy injury prone players. This is bad luck for Bauer but he always misses a chunk of every season.

In Pearce, Beilik and Sarr we have 3 CBs most in this division would be hugely envious of... trouble is 2 of them are injury prone as well.
  • Think it’s fairly rare to have players fully fit for more than 2/3 of a season at best
  • We need to sign a replacement as we all know Pearce will end up injured too. How about Stephen caulker or James Collins
  • This is a blow. Hopefully he will be fit again soon.
  • Is it just me that thinks Thrush is a worrying name for a Physio.

I was thinking the same. Only at Charlton can the doctor be a name of a medical complaint

  • Being Naby in, let him keep his place if he is doing well, put Bielik in if not.
  • Why are people saying we have cover.

We play with 3 CBS so with BFG out we only have Pearce,Sarr and Bielik.

3 players for 3 CB positions is not adaqute cover its just enough to start, all it takes is a suspsension or injury and its square pegs and round holes again

We played with two CB’s Saturday, if he carries on with that then we do have cover if all fit. Plus Djiksteel can play as one of the three when we do play with three CB’s.
I love these sort of comments. Anyone can play as one of the three. Literally anyone.

Let's chuck a kid in that can't get a game at full back or in midfield - which I understand are his acknowledged best postiitions. Throw him in as part of a back three.

    Problem solved. What's the issue?

    Spot on offy

We need to reshuffle the deck. Find a formation that utilises our players in their best positions.

    Steer
    Solly Pearce Sarr
    Dijksteel Cullen Aribo Page
    Reeves
    Grant Taylor

It may leave us somewhat exposed at RCB, but adds the pace of Dijksteel to support Solly.

Happy with Bielik in the back 3 when fit with Solly back in his RWB position.

Not sure what our other RWB options or CB options are tbh.
  • Marshall as right wing back an option.

Thomas Driessen isn't happy about this!
  • Just saw this on SSN. Shit news. As pp said, just as we seem to be getting everyone fit & a settled side another one goes down. Not concerned about Sarr as I think he's certainly good enough & his "bad moments" are outweighed by his better ones (one of the betters passers in the team). Beliek is a better midfielder imo, but may have to deputise there - although I think we could go 5 at the back with this news.

My main concern is if Pearce gets injured...........again as previously posted he's playing with an injury & I can quite see him having to go under the knife soon as well.

You can’t carry a centre back that has “bad moments”. Bauer and Pearce have very few
  • Yeah its one of the very few signings he got right

    Is he on commission then?

Or with the same players a 4-4-2 diamond - Dijksteel at the base and Solly RB.

Either that or planning on a resale in a January and will earn bucks for that

    Exactly this.

In the 3 years Bauer has been here he averages just under 30 league games per season.
Pearce in 2 seasons, averages 24 league games.
Bielik went on loan to Walsall in january last season and didn't play a single game for them because of a series of injuries.

Just 8 games into this season and all 3 of them have already had an injury.
  • Blumberg is clearly close to playing first team football. However, he is another left footed player. Not seen any of the Under 23 CBs this season to know if a right footed player might be good enough.

Erm no, I literally didn’t say literally anyone, I literally said Djiksteel, who played there a few weeks ago in the cup, literally.

Getting him match fit , for when we really need him in November !
  • glass half empty .. fucking disastrous news …. glass half full .. give Naby Sarr a chance to make a name for himself

(It would be disastrous if the rather injury prone Pearce were to suffer another injury)

    Slightly surprised at the timing
I’m not, Yao is nowhere near the first team picture so getting first team experience at a local non league side will do him good for his development.

first thought was Sarr, but when's Bielik back from his injury ? .. (seems Holby City's got nothing on us)
