The Apprentice 2018

I think it’s down to the business plans that have already been looked at and this is just an entertainment show in the background before Lord Sugar invests in the one he wants. Maybe Tom has a good one and that’s why he is still there .....for the moment0
-
Agree with the above comment plus Tom does conduct himself well in the boardroom, always calm and logical. Thought this weeks episode was good entertainment and Daniel was not only good value but somehow with no knowledge he actually "got" the artwork which is why he was successful, I think he may be a frontrunner. Jasmine came over as being a lot nicer on "You're Fired" than she did during the process but her business plan sounded somewhat dull. The process is now throwing up the potential winners and agree that Jackie is a strong candidate.0

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of visiting Scotland.killerandflash said:
I was surprised when I visited Glasgow, parts are surprisingly middle class as proven by the people buying art tonight!Weegie Addick said:
He got away with it because he's one of only two blokes left. Had to keep him for a bit of balance.Athletico Charlton said:Would have sacked the fella, he isn’t up to it and has been consistently poor to average at best.
What a beautiful, sunny city it was filmed in!
This episode featured the offices of itison which is a website offering some great deals on accommodation, dining and entertainment in Glasgow, Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland and Northern England.
For example, I have just booked an overnight stay at Carnoustie, Golf and Spa Hotel. Superior room with golf course view £59 for b&b.
Just Google itison, sign up and they send you a daily email with all their regionalised offers.0 -
That was a shocker. He has got rid of the best candidate.
Bonus for her is she is now free to be the wicked witch at panto!!1 -
I felt sorry for Tom, he knew he was for the chop soon as they gave the final figures which was a bit of a let down and pretty unfair I thought given they lost because people changed their minds which wasn't mentioned beforehandDOC64 said:That was a shocker. He has got rid of the best candidate.

I'm liking Daniel more and more since his tour de force performance in the art task last week. Absolutely Baggs-esque5 -
Agree regarding Tom, but not using Jackie as one of the presenters was almost suicidal.
Didn't help being told to sell the tooth whitening product by putting charcoal in his gob. Fantastic tv.0 -
Yes, no idea why he was presenting, when choosing the right products and doing the behind the scenes job is just as important.DOC64 said:Agree regarding Tom, but not using Jackie as one of the presenters was almost suicidal.

It was tough on him, but then most people were staggered he hadn't been fired the last 2 weeks anyway!Carter said:

The firing and the task are increasingly becoming unrelated halves of the same show. Performance on the actual task seems to have minimal bearing on who gets fired.1

Jackie played a game and imo was sneaky I also appreciate sugar backing smaller business the only thing I don’t like it with these small firms he usually sells off his shares within a year.
Daniel to win for me now.0 - Sponsored links:

I think he or the producers need to ditch the investment bit and go back to giving one of them a job. It skews the whole thing too much and like you say, he ends up sacking people not because of how they performed on a task or how culpable for a loss they were.
Besides that I thought dragons den was about investment, if you had such a good idea and were after investment and acumen just go down that route surely2 -
cant find the info but i know the plumbing company from 2 years ago he is nothing to do with anymore.Carter said:

Jackie had to go, far too manipulative and untrustworthy.3
-
He still tweets often for the skin care company, sweet company from last year, cosmetic surgery company and inventor Tom, so presumably is still involved in those. His investment is to help start a business and see it thrive. It may be that once a company is becoming successful then the original candidate may decide to buy Lord Sugar out to gain full control, which I think is what happened with the plumbing guy, although could be wrong0
-
Tom was useless and pathetic from start to finish, can't believe he lasted that long. He was such a wet.0
-
Tom came across as a very decent bloke which is accentuated even more this year given how unpleasant most of them appear to be. Trouble is, he was PM three times and consistently made bad decisions leading to 3 defeats.Carter said:

Can’t help thinking that Sugar set him up to fail this week though as in Kodeja and the blonde girl he probably had the 2 weakest candidates left and Jackie is not made for tv sales.

Jackie usually had good ideas (apart from boob tube for stewardess uniform) and could actually talk/pitch like a normal person.
Feel she was hung out to dry on this task and did nothing wrong.
Thought only her, Sian or Daniel had anything about them that would make me want to invest.
Believe it is only the plumber he is not still involved with.0 -
The problem is that LS's business empire isn't very exciting now, so there are few actual jobs available.Carter said:

The sort of tycoons who could provide a decent job (say Mike Ashley, James Dyson) are far too busy to appear on a TV show0 -
And most UK Apprentice candidates would probably prefer to stay in the UK, rather than be sent to Singapore to work.killerandflash said:

I'm Lord Sugar and I'm looking for my next business partner in the Apprentice 2019.
Candidates should be:
Gullible enough not spot when they are being manipulated to make TV fiction drama.
Prepared to give up at least a year of their working life (maybe more if and Election is called).
Able to understand that we film the final with 2 winners, so you won't know if you have won until we show it.
Not expect much contact with Shoogs after winning.
Happy to fade into obscurity like a Big Brother house-mate after the initial hoo har.0 -

did prefer it when a job was on offer and also the minders used to get a bit more involved in slaughtering the candidates, i think last few weeks the team winning has been v lucky, last night the better team lost.0

He currently employs around 3500 in the UK. Not that Apprentice winners would be needed for his type of design and engineering activities...Chizz said:

Most people enjoy the process, it's probably fun in the house, and some of the tasks can be enjoyable
You do learn things about yourself which may be useful
It's good if you want a career in reality TV, or want to make a quick buck from the fame0 -
How can you say the better team lost last night ?palarsehater said:did prefer it when a job was on offer and also the minders used to get a bit more involved in slaughtering the candidates, i think last few weeks the team winning has been v lucky, last night the better team lost.
Daniel and bad make up woman were so much better on screen than wooden Tom and useless Khadija0 -
The point re how you perform on tasks is very appropriate. A number of them have a mare but escape any great deal of scrutiny because they end up winning.
This series has by and large been one where you survive if your team is marginally less shit than the other!0 -
they also missed a advert by forgetting the prop.MrOneLung said:

With the availability of "lost/change of mind sales" on the QVC task, and any tasks where Shoogs has "lined up a Corporate Client", then the scriptwriters just decide who wins by "adjusting" the sales.Phil said:The point re how you perform on tasks is very appropriate. Shoogs has already been told who to move around in the teams, so they can arrange to ditch the person they want to before anyone has even baked a cake.
It may be entertainment - but it is fiction, just like the boardroom, the secretary, and the caff.
What is deffo real, are the NDA's that everybody signs.0 -
That's interesting, because Dyson doesn't manufacture any of its products in the UK any more.killerandflash said:

I totally accept your point about other entrepreneurs being able to offer jobs and not just Lord Sugar. But I think Dyson is such a hypocrite that a show featuring him would rightly be castigated.0
