I hope Sri Lanka havent spent the gate money already for this series !!!

are wee playing at this time of year because Sri Lanka wanted to, or because we insisted this is the only timeframe we have ?

According to the BBC site, its to do with the Body who organise all the fixtures. Sri Lanka have to go to NZ, OZ & then SA after our tour - first match of their tour is less than a week after ours finish.

Just stupid in my mind. Will be fun when the next tour over here starts in early March & games called off due to snow...........but it was organised because the "fixture people" think the Windies will want to see some of the white stuff (and that doesn't mean the ball)
They also now have to fit the fixture schedule around the IPL for fear of a player revolt!
And all the other T20 series...

Plus there's just been the Asia cup (which is one of the reasons the India Test series was so truncated)

As stated earlier this was Sri Lanka's decision to play the ODI series now. They brought it forward from its original date. No idea why as the monsoon season is pretty reliable.
It was Sri Lanka's choice to swap the order of the tour (I.e. ODI's before tests) but the timing of the tour was down to the ECB's schedule.

GOOD NEWS from Kandy - we are set for a 21-over-a-side game with the toss to take place at 3.15pm. All being well, we will then start the match at 3.45pm

England win the toss & bowl first. The team is the same. (Well Tom Curran in for Dawson).
  • Really hard to care about such a truncated and bitty series, especially as you expect the rain to reappear

Watching Tom Curren bowl his variety of slower balls you can see he's been learning from Dernbach.

Good to see Stokes resisting the temptation to punch the boundary marker - really don't know what it had done to upset him.

Chandimal made just 34 off 42 balls and only hit two boundaries - that's a third of their innings!
