He still used to come and see us every so often as I would see him in the Millennium Suite or sat the row in front of me. He was having something of a battle with his health but always seemed cheerful and chatty
A great player back in the day - absolutely fearless in the tackle and a cracking shot on him. These were the days I really fell in love with the game...first one of my favourites to pass away :-(
I was 8 at the start of the 90/91 season and that was the first year I went to all the games my old man did, rather than just the odd one. Darren Pitcher was, therefore, a big player in the teams of my formative years as a Charlton fan.
I won't pretend I didn't later boo him, he as the first player to break my heart by moving 'there', of all places, but with that goal up at Blackburn he gave me, what remains, one of my best moments following Charlton and a rare something I could crow about to all the Man United and Villa fans I went to school with who looked down there noses at little old Charlton.
As others have said, I remember listening to that Cup Replay against Blackburn on the radio and scarcely being able to listen at the end as the team came under huge pressure.
And we forget now that at the time Blackburn were a big club (finished second in the League that season) and the big clubs took the Cup seriously. So it was an amazing victory - and Darren's goal would also ultimately lead to that never to be forgotten day out at Old Trafford in the 6th Round.
Terrible, news and such a shock. My thoughts go out to his friends and family at this very sad time. Blackburn away will always live with me for two reasons'. Pitch's goal and the scenes on the terraces that followed, plus it was the last game my dad attended before he passed away.
RIP Pitch, and if you bump into my old man up there give him a hug from me.

What a night at Ewood Park. I remember that a large amount of the Blackburn fans clapped us at the end of the game. Thank you Darren.
