Oh cool, what work did you do?
    Music clearance
  • I just asked Netflix Help about Sunderland and they have no realease date they were prepared to offer me.
  • Netflix have an 1880s football drama written by Julien Fellows out this month.

Unlikely to be any Charlton content.

Terrible, always left out, big club bias etc etc
  • Just finished season one in anticipation of season two.

Jonny Williams comes across really well, I felt like I wanted to just give him a hug a few times. Seems like a fragile guy, so glad he is so highly regarded at Charlton, must mean a huge amount to him.

I'm currently working my way through All or nothing: the Man city docu-series on prime.

I haven't a clue what old Pep is saying during his impassioned team talks, but it sounds good!
Found the Man City one a bit boring and propaganda like. I’m enjoying the Brazil national team one which followed them through the Copa América last year (though I’m biased as I was out there watching it). Least that’s all in Portuguese so you have subtitles anyway. But it deals with things like Neymar’s rape allegation in a way which the Man City one wouldn’t even mention it!

still looking forward to s2 of Sunderland. Our involvement was always a bonus for me - I just thought the first series was brilliant anyway

That sounds interesting, is it also an All or Nothing series?
  • Yeah there’s a bunch of All or Nothings, across different sports now too. I’ve not tried them cos of how lazy the City one was.

McGeady comes across less well. Openly critical of Colemns methods and man management etc.

I’m not sure All or Nothing works as well in the sanitised world of a Premier League team in a season where they sweep all before them. You need some adversity, characters and drama.

The NFL series’ (including Hard Knocks) work well because NFL players seem a little more entertaining, you have the drama of about 50% of the squad getting cut before the season starts and then the ongoing impunity with which NFL teams can sack their players even when they’re under contract compared to football where it’s not really possible save for some sort of unlikely gross misconduct situation.

I personally thought the City one exceeded expectations. Don’t recall a top Premier League team giving anyone that sort of access before, especially where you’re watching half time team talks from Pep Guardiola across an entire season!

    Same, i quite enjoyed it.
  • The Leeds one on Amazon is brilliant, narrated by Russell Crowe. Best football docu-series I've watched.

  • Season 2 is released on Netflix on April 1st

The access was great, it’s interesting to see clubs up close like that at a time when we are so detached from the millionaires. But they only gave that access because they had final cut, and that means it’s basically propaganda for the Abu Dhabi machine. It’s designed to make you think “oh I quite like these guys and what they’re doing for football!”

So that when they get done for blatantly cheating the system, you’re more likely to want them to be forgiven!
This, in a nutshell. It was terrible imo. No creative freedom for the director. A PR piece.
  • April Fools Day arrival apparently
  • Season 2 Trailer is now on Netflix.

I met a couple of the cast from this on Monday for a junket. Really nice chaps, and clearly very passionate about this show. Made me want to watch it after talking to them.
  • someone's stuck the trailer on Netflix (hopefully it stays on there so the link works!)
