Yeah, it wont last long, once the players have all gone home to  Johannesburg,Cape Town,Kabul,Sydney,Melbourne,Auckland

Sorry, forgot you may be in bed being an hour ahead in Luxembourg
  • I hate these games of a silly length. It’s mainly luck. Great when you win. Irritating when you lose.
  • Then along with Burns,Roy,Curran all with England.

Roy and Curran were born where? It wasn’t Banstead
Colin Cowdrey was born in Madras and Mike Denness was born in Lanarkshire.

    Your next point is?
That players come from all over the world to play cricket in England. Long gone are the days where counties played with 11 from their home county. Although im not sure why you asked that question as you were the one that started going on about 4 players from there, 5 from here. Who cares where players are from, it’s 2019!!!!! Kent were the better team tonight and the only two batsmen who got into double figures are from Australia and Afghanistan. Lucky it wasn’t a Surrey local boys 11 v Kent local boys 11 because the quality wouldn’t have been so good
That's not the point. It matters hugely where players come from if you are an England fan.
You brought up the fact about Surrey England qualified players born abroad.
My point is tonight, how many players from Surrey could play for England? - 9 , I believe, and I believe 4 from Kent.
Yes, moneybags Surrey could probably choose to play the system - like Kent do. But it is obviously to the detriment of England, whereas at least Surrey try to promote their 'local' players such as Pope,Jacks,CurranT,CurranS, -mainly, I suppose because they have to with having so many players called up for England duty (and the 3 currently called up have all come through the Surrey system).

  • Well done Kent...lets not get too carried away though.
  • If you feel ecstatic with Kent United Nations beating Surrey 'B' , then go for it.
With a cavernous budget, i’m Amazed you’re so bitter
  • Surrey = Palace
  • Haha Nothing better than thrashing Surrey at county cricket level. The wingeing even worse than the Aussies when we beat them. All luck and unfairness. O well and there was me thinking we the far superior side in batting and bowling.
  • WE WON BY 9 WICKETS AND 3 OVERS IN A 7 OVER GAME.

FCUK ME - IF IT HAD BEEN A 20 OVER GAME WE WOULD HAVE WON IN 8 OVERS.

WELL AND TRULY BEATEN..... AGAIN !!!
  • Top result Kent. Well played.
  • Plus Surrey had the umpire in their pocket when Curran middled it behind.

Somewhat but unrelated but Mark Butcher is the most abysmal commentator I've heard for some time. Hopefully Rob Key was flicking him and Sangakarra the finger, pair of Surrey biased twats!

Neither of those played tonight. Their inclusion might have evened up the sides a bit, but I doubt think it would have changed the result.

    Colin Cowdrey 12 n.o. after 20 overs  :)

He did play one particularly brutal clip of his legs for 2 though

  • Colin Cowdrey or Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge, to give him his official title, played in the inaugural One Day International.

Very very difficult batting conditions. I'd rather be chasing and kent defo in the driving seat but I wouldn't write surrey off just yet.
Erm difficult batting conditions you say?
Was particularly difficult batting conditions. As the commentators said before the game win the toss and chase and you will win. Pitch had longer to dry out and you got the best of the conditions.

Having said that we were always well short of where we needed to be.
Would you say that the pitch (which was covered while the rain was falling) was noticeably drier in the eighth over of the match (when Kent were batting) than the seventh (when Surrey were)?

There's obviously an advantage in batting second when the game is shortened.  But would you really say the pitch conditions in what was an eleven-over match made much difference?
Just repeating what the sky commentators said.

Before the game "win the toss win the game, chasing will be much easier".

After the game "Kent got the much better of the conditions".

I'll trust what knight, Sanga, Butch and Key said.

Indeed we were as I have said multiple times above. We simply didn't get enough and bowling Clarke was an odd decision that changed the game.
  • Stevens' stats for T20:

    2018 - didn't play
2017 - scored 113 runs at an average of 14.12 and took 4 wickets at 39.75 with economy rate of 8.67
2016 - scored 168 runs at an average of 15.27 and took 11 wickets at 33.71 with economy rate of 9.45

Trying to put aside our recognition of Stevens as being a fantastic servant to us and specifically talking about T20 where the third discipline, fielding, is such a major factor, if we had signed a 43 year with that sort of record would we be quite so enthusiastic about him?

Stevo has only played two games for Derbyshire and scored 5 runs in two innings and recorded figures of 3-0-33-0.

Hard decisions have to be made in professional sport and whilst he is still very good in red ball cricket, he would not get into our white ball squad let alone side.

I hope that the Club and supporters give him a decent send off at the end of the season.

Yes it's interesting that we've really tailored our T20 side towards white ball specialists, only 5 out of the 11 are regular red ball players as well
  • Thanks for posting.

Anyone know if there’s an issue with the Kent website can’t access it?

There’s evidently a bit more money around - I doubt any of the overseas players have come cheap and I can’t imagine Trott is working for free
